Super hipster! Please dont be offended by the butt cheeks hanging out of the the short shorts around here, pretty chill spot. Unfortunately, they were out of their usual bakery items and had to substitute for wholefood. Not bad but i love supporting local. That is why i gabe a 3 star rating. Good place to study or have a casual coffee date. I brought my 2 year old and she loved playing with the wood games on the table. That was a plus!

I don’t like to Unilocal a whole lot, but this shop was so great I have to. Great customer service, knowledge baristas, laid back vibe and most importantly great coffee. Was happy to find Picacho coffee being used! If I lived here, I’d be a regular. Thanks guys!

Really good cold brew. They sell Chocolate Cartel goodies, too. Nice modern interior.

First, I stood in line for quite some time while the dude behind the counter was just chit chatting with some other dude, as per his own admission didn’t notice me, even though I was taller than the guy in front of me. I was hoping for a tasty decaf, and the short version was they could ONLY make a decaf as a pour over… no latte, no espresso. .if you want decaf, it’s pour over or nothing. Now I’m a fan pour over, but not at $ 5…five bucks… now if it were a phenomenal cup of coffee, mmmm, no. I’ve never had a just plain ol cup of coffee worth $ 5…and sadly this cup tasted purely of cardboard… I don’t know if it was the filter or the cup that gave it the lovely cardboard flavor, but regardless of the source, the result was the same. Very disappointing. I’m sure if you are going in for your caffeine fix you’ll have a better experience, but if you happen to be a decaf drinker… because you love the taste of a good coffee, go somewhere else.

Upon waking in you’re meet with some great laser cut geometric designs. Beautiful, wooden tables, chairs, and benches to sit on and a stunning tin ceiling to look at. The whole place encourages you to look all around.
The espresso flight is a lot of caffeine but so worth it to try! It’s enlightening to have two different beans and roasts juxtaposed that way. It forces you to appreciate what you’re trying.
The green tea biscotti is just enough sweety to pair with the bitter coffee. Highly recommended.
I love coming to this place. I’ll be here often.

Coffee shop environments are everything to me, and this place has just that with the added bonus of delicious coffee. I had the iced coffee, which is my go-​to judgement drink of all coffee shops, and the one at Deep Space is in my top three for ABQ.
Downside — outlets. Have your devices charged! Upside — great open layout for the size of the downtown space. Great space for brainstorming, friend drop ins, and studying.

Met here for a business meeting based on location of my business partners location, cute coffee shop but needs better signage outside. I almost couldn’t find it.
Small space, a few places for sitting. Nice space that you could get some work done or run in a grab a quick coffee to go. Different coffee menu (size difference for options) that I enjoyed asking about. The staff was really friendly and was happy to help.

This is beyond the greatest place here in ABQ. so great to the point that it’s probably my new fave coffee shop here in town!
I’ve been coming here every week since my 1^st time being here. It’s such a great place to hang out w/​friends &/​or getting some work done.
The interior/​environment/​atmosphere: a comfortable/​casual vibe that’s not too overwhelming; the soundtrack that accompanies the environment also brings out the best of the shop itself.
The service: for the past few times that I’ve been in, the guy at the front is always so nice & willing to help.
I’ve gotten something different each time I’ve been in – the mocha latte, the butterscotch latte, & the vanilla chai latte. All are very great & worth a try!
They also have adult coloring books too so that’s pretty great!

I’ll admit it’s weird at first walking into Deep Space coffee not knowing what to expect. Just by looking at the pictures on Unilocal and looking at the reviews were the reason why I had to try to this place out. Who doesn’t love checking out new coffee shops in Albuquerque?! Curious as I walked in its somewhat similar to Zendo minus the art gallery. The layout is simple black/​white wall theme with wooden benches, tables, high rise seats to look at the view of Central. As usual people converse with one another, working on their laptops, and people coloring de-​stressing.
Trying to break out of Starbucks ordering system with the iced caramel macchiato. Sorry to the guy who cringed at my order. Lol He suggested a iced latte with sweetner and the balance of the latte was perfect. Feeling completely relaxed and awake for my exam. Instead of feeling sugared out and lethargic which is not a fun combination for a college student. What you pay at Deep Space coffee is good quality coffee not the quantity.

Deep Space is a welcome addition to Albuquerque’s growing coterie of hip local coffee shops (like Humble and Zendo). Cutting edge coffee techniques get paired with a photogenic interior of heavy wood, black-​and-​white stripes, spaceology iconography, and even a complementary pretentious book (like Hegel’s Phenomenology and Jansen’s History of Art) on each table. Cute. Very cute.
Ambitious. Very ambitious. No, seriously: I talked to the owner briefly and he has ambitions that go beyond this big concept little coffee shop. He is the future of a more sophisticated beer and coffee consuming Abq. Unless he leaves before the red tape clears. Then, sadly, we are back to the present.

Deep Space Coffee is mainly a hip Millennial-​centric place ideal for working. You see creatives and non-​affected suits collaborating or silently GTD.
Pretty darned good coffee, no matter how you drink it. Plus, a solid selection of teas. Their pot of tea is über generous at 45 ounces for seven bucks. But don’t tell them that.
Submerge yourself in one of their dreamlike desserts. They get their gelato and truffles from Chocolate Cartel, with flavors like Mayan Red Chile Chocolate, coconut and salted caramel. their baked goods from Bootstrap Bakery. All well worth the sugar coma.
The place is usually packed, sometimes the crowd overflowing just outside their front door discussing business. Half of the seating is at wide tables with wooden benches. Not the most comfortable setup, but if you’re lucky, you can find an open seat at one of their more comfortable options. Otherwise, know you’re working on your good posture. People are cool and open to sharing tables, since seating is limited and spending time here is coveted.
Don’t leave without taking home one of their unique business cards.

Not to be confused with Deep Space 9! This coffee shop is located on central and 5^th right in downtown Albuquerque. I heard they were opening this café for a long time but it finally happened. I’ve been there about 3 times and the espresso drinks I’ve had have all been great. I do need to try a plain espresso though just for peace of mind, milk and sugar tastes like milk and sugar. I’ve had a latte, an americano and a few cortados.
Their main bean source is Picacho of Las Cruces, NM (great company btw) but they go out of their way to bring us locals out of state goods like Gimme! Coffee and Counter Culture for variety which is thoughtful.
The inside of the shop is minimalist with exposed walls and very nice wooden tables. Their logo is everywhere which kind of creeps me out because it’s a pyramid. Their pyramid is everywhere, watching you at all times. Maybe they’re part of the hip hop illuminati? Is Jay-​Z behind this new world coffee take over?

I’m beyond thrilled to find this new coffee shop!!! Just what the downtown needed. I can’t wait to see what businesses follow this cool owner’s passion. We ordered an espresso and flat white — what better way to truly sample the coffee. Hand delivered my espresso with a soda water to cleanse my palate… am I still in Albuquerque? Flat white was delicious as well. Everyone come visit so this cool establishment starts a trend of more to come.

One of the newest coffee shops in the downtown area. They serve a wild selection of hot and cold coffees and some teas. They use Picacho Coffee Roasters out of Las Cruces NM.
All their staff are very friendly, they will explain what they have if you have any questions. They take their time when making your coffee, so you know you will be getting the best. Enough seating if you are hanging out with friends or sitting alone.
Highly recommend to coffee lovers.

Excellent new coffee shop on town. Compare espressos side by side with their espresso flight, try a fresh pourover… or a espresso/​milk combo, in trying the Gibralter today and it’s perfect.
Outstanding marketing inside. It’s nearly impossible to resist pulling out your camera phone while here. (I haven’t been able to resist yet). Has the big city feel to it, and it’s in Abq!
They also have a rotating selection of little nibbles and chocolates. We tried a pistachio biscotti last time that was fantastic.

The latest addition to great coffee options in downtown Albuquerque! Plus it’s right on my walk to work… bonus to easily stop in for a hot cuppa Joe on a cold morning. Definitely a hipster spot, but I must admit, I was digging the vibe. It’s decorated by Levitated Toy Factory’s 3D printing artifacts and trippy black & white wall art. It’s a small-​ish space, but there are some tables where you could meet a friend or work on your laptop for a while. Seemed like they were into «artful coffee» (French presses, etc) and really focused on quality. The owner was super friendly and welcoming. I also loved that they partner with other local businesses (like the Toy Factory and Chocolate Cartel) to promote other cool offerings in ABQ. I’ll be back!

Have we reached peak hipster in the Q? Do I care, so long as it means they bring great coffee with them?
Thank you, Deep Space — I needed a downtown coffee shop for my workday caffeine needs that wasn’t Starbucks, and lest it sound like I’m damning you with faint praise, let me clarify: this is very good coffee. The Ethiopian drip I ordered is absolutely lovely, faintly citrusy properly roasted yummy yummy coffee that I could drink all day. Of course, you also do the right espresso drinks –hello Gibraltar– and non coffee choices like chai. You thoughtfully included not just pastries, but a local chocolate selection too.
You’re also cute and cozy (look for the white painted building between Fifth and Sixth on Central, that’s the spot). High ceiling, lots of wood, spare décor, tables with Hegel sitting on them.
You are, in short, the coffee shop I have been waiting for. Welcome.

Damn, how I pine for a decent bakery in Albuquerque. Or a decent cocktail. Or a mass transit system, a walkable neighborhood, a music scene, a downtown grocery store. (Arguably, we are expecting the latter, it’s under construction and should open, ah, 2023, perhaps?) As a whole, this city is embarrassingly behind the urban 8-​ball, with two notable exceptions: coffee and beer.
Deep Space Coffee is, in my experience, the first shop in the 505 that’s taking coffee one step beyond, and that trend happens to be a tad retro. Without getting too involved, coffee is headed back to its origins, the ol’ filter and hot water thing, sans cream or sugar, and burning the bean is sacrilege. Deep Space does offer a dark pour, but they’re nudging you to reconsider, because the medium to light roast offers something you’ve likely never discovered in a cuppa joe: citrus. That’s what I picked up, anyway, and I honestly couldn’t believe what I was tasting, it was like sipping a grapefruit IPA. And from what I understand, depending on the bean’s origin and estate, the nuances of coffee pick up all sorts of flavors, including tobacco. Your morning brew simplified, and far more complex. I’m in.
Baristas are also mounting a straight up revolt against our corporate masters who somehow managed to shove the caloric equivalent of a Big Mac into the average latte. They’re basically saying Thanks, Seattlebucks, for introducing this country to something better than Folgers, but screw your Venti. Signature espresso drinks in these confines can run four to six ounces, but they’re stupid good, and the Ethiopian shot that I sipped had multiple levels of complexity. Just one sip, my tongue danced four times. These people source direct, organic, they know their growers, I believe the beans have a two week expiration date. In short, this place is a time warp: retro, forward-​focussed, and right on time.
