My family has been going to Four Joys for well over 25 years. The service is always great and the food is superb. We normally order the family meals for 3 – 4 people. It serves egg drop or wonton soup, egg rolls, and chicken and shrimp appetizers. Then, the main course is served with accompanying rice. Waitresses always refill drinks and satisfy all our requests in a timely manner. We have also had the buffet. It has a smaller selection compared to the large buffets in town but it really provides a good selection which I feel is just the right size, and at a lower price than those huge buffets. Four Joys is our main stay for Chinese food.

Id read many great reviews about four joys and wanted to try it for myself. I called in my order and picked it up. Usual take out process. The girl was nice enough but man was i disappointed when i got home. I ordered the wontons and they had almost 0 filling. See the pic for yourself. I understand cutting corners but frying wontons with that small amount of filling leaves them rock hard and far from enjoyable.

Excellent food at a great price. It’s not the microwave dinners that most other«Chinese food restaurants» in Albuquerque serve.

We almost always have the Hot and Sour Soup and some egg roles. A huge bowl of soup for two, which is spicy, full of meat and veggies. Very good. We have occasionally had entrees; one is the twice cooked pork. We order it extra spicy, and it is really great. The egg rolls we get are quite good. Prices are reasonable. Kind of a funky place, but clean and great service.

Needed my knife to cut the chicken, general tao’s was very bland, sweet and sour was neither sweet or sour. Won’t need to go back.

My husband and I happened upon this little restaurant on New Year’s Eve, when we were searching for a place where we did not need to have a reservation. It was busy, but there were a couple of tables and we were seated right away. My husband started with Egg Drop Soup, which he said was very good. I wanted Hot & Sour soup, but unfortunately they only prepare it for 2 people. So I settled for Won Ton Soup instead. It was delicious, with a very flavorful broth and delicious won tons. We then had egg rolls and fried won tons as an appetizer. Also very delicious, with a nicely crisp crust. The order of won tons was especially generous for about $ 2-$ 3. For an entrée, I had Kung Bo Chicken and my husband had General Tsao’s Chicken. The General’s chicken was a very large order and the flavor was wonderful. Although my husband loved the flavor, he does prefer a little smaller pieces of chicken. The Kung Bo Chicken had lots of vegetables, peanuts and a wonderful sauce. The entire dinner, including a half liter of wine, was about $ 35!!! And we had plenty for a future lunch/dinner. Our server was super nice and very efficient. We both highly recommend this restaurant and plan to return soon.

Love their sesame chicken & general tso’s chicken. Friendly and speedy service. Best Chinese food in the Albuquerque area. We’ve been there many times and highly recommend you give it a try.

I go there for the lunch buffet! I love the food. Very fresh with lots of flavor! I think they have the best egg drop soup I have ever tasted. Also, everyone is so friendly and the restaurant is very clean. Good price! I have never been there other than the lunch buffet.

This odd, dimly-lit, windowless restaurant had exactly the ambience we were hoping it would have.(When we drove past the first time, we were like, «Hey, there’s a windowless Chinese restaurant with no cars out front — bet it’s weird and great,» because… that’s the kind of people my boyfriend and I are.) It was indeed pretty empty when we went(it was about 7/7:30 on a Friday night), so we sat right next to the bizarre and somewhat neglected water feature(aren’t they always?) and explored the menu. The cream cheese wontons were perfect(and so cheap!) and fulfilled a desperate need I’d been experiencing for some time. Our server was so efficient! She was funny, too, and sort of severe in that mom-like way where you can tell her what you want but ultimately you’re just going to get what she gives you. It was like she had twice as many hands as a normal person in terms of her speed, and she kept organizing our table so that what each individual needed was right in front of them, like when I was reaching to take a spoonful of my boyfriend’s soup she just pulled it right out from under him and over to me so I could eat it more easily. Ok, enough of that. We were not as big fans of the egg drop soup as everyone else seems to be – it was dark and tasted too strongly of chicken(which isn’t a bad thing, but in the context of egg drop soup it was vaguely disturbing even though it is just due to extra bouillon or something). I have never been satisfied with the General Tso’s chicken I’ve had at any restaurant in New Mexico. The best thing this dish had going for it at Four Joys was that it was definitely the crispiest I’ve had here. And give me some gosh darn veggies(at least a few measly little broccolis…). Anyway, my boyfriend’s sweet and sour pork was terribly greasy. We felt awful after the meal, but that’s just what you have to expect when you eat [American] Chinese anywhere. If you want that nostalgic divey Chinese restaurant feeling, this place is perfect. I’m going back for a wonton feast.

This was good classic American chinese… the staff was awesome and attentative. I wish I had remembered to take more pics of my food but I was too busy stuffing my face! Only wish the restaurant had a bit more lighting.

We too are long time patrons of this restaurant. This is an exceptional staff. They know our names each time we visit. Additionally, they accommodate a severe food allergy. Regarding the food, we rarely stray from our normal, but it is always equal to our high standards. A personal favorite is the spare ribs and pork fried rice.

We have been coming here for years. Owned by mom n dad who also do the cooking. The 3 kids are the only employees. Always good. Older inside, quality food, the red sauce is nice and thick no watery, thursdays they have this red chicken on the buffet, my husbands favorite. Kids welcome, has a water fall thing that runs the length of the inside. Buffet is the best! Did I mention we love the buffet, small and foods good. We have come for dinner a few times, we can usually share a plate.

We have been going for years, it is in my opinion the ONLY Chinese restaurant in town! I am pretty picky and I love their food!

Unfortunately this is the worst place I’ve ever reviewed. From overly fried wontons to the suspect sweet and sour pork my boyfriend received, I would never in a billion years recommend this place to anyone. Although I wasn’t expecting five star Chinese food given where we are, I at least expected basic food health standards to be met. My beef was not any consistency I’ve ever had, even at panda. There was this sad and disgusting gooey, clear medley of I think vegetable that took up most of his plate. Please, if you honor your health, avoid this place like the plague.

After reading such stellar reviews my boyfriend and I decided to give Four Joys a try. We ordered the Four Joys beef and a number 6(swapped the szechuan beef for Mongolian) for pick up. The food was ready promptly but the first thing we noticed when we got home was an off smell, which after trying both the beef meals I can only assume it was oil that desperately needed to be changed. Rancid is the only word that can really explain it. Both the Mongolian beef and the four joys beef were completely inedible. The sweet and sour pork was alright and the egg roll was bland but otherwise fine(bf didn’t like the texture, it was more doughy than crispy but I didn’t mind). The only redeeming factor of this entire meal being the egg drop soup, which we both enjoyed. All in all I genuinely hate to say but it was a waste of $ 20.

Not sure if this place is paying people for reviews, but id give it zero stars if I could. The egg drop soup is horrible, probably the worst I’ve ever had, tasted like the yolks were bad. Sweet and sour pork was equally revolting, tasted like the grease in the fryer hadn’t been changed in a month. I mean really really bad. $ 45 worth of takeout and basically everything but the rice is trash. I will never go here again, stick to Chens its worth the drive.

Best Chinese in Albuquerque! The four joys beef is to die for! The fried rice and egg drop soup were also amazing. My husband’s family have been patrons of this place for over 20 years and they keep coming back. The waitstaff are friendly and knowledgeable, the prices are very reasonable. Get the hot tea!

I love this food. Everything I’ve ever eaten is delicious. I always order take out and they are very nice and the food is ready quickly. I usually order the sweet and sour chicken and it is always yummy. I never see very many people in the dinning room but I think it is probably more popular for sit ins at lunch time. Nice and convenient for me!

Great lunch buffet, simple and smart. My favorite is the egg drop soup, which happens to be the best I think in Albuquerque. It’s kind of a hole in the wall kind of establishment, but clean, great service, a small goodie store on the side by the cashier, and a great selection of food.
