Kingdom Dry Cleaners & Alteration

Just fixed a button on my jacket on the spot. I was out of cash but offered to pay extra with card they then declined to charge me at all. Great service. I will be back!

I’ve been to a few places for dry-​cleaning in Old Town, had a horrible experience with one, and consider myself lucky to have found Kingdom Dry Cleaners. Consistently great service — management is very friendly, clothes always come out looking great, and I use them for alterations and repairs. I recommend them without reservation.

Great work, great service. We used to live closer to Kingdom Dry Cleaners compared to now, but we still bring our dry cleaning business here. We pass several competitors on the way here, and we’ve even tried one or two — no dice. Kingdom is highly recommended.

Highly recommended by a friend of mine. I dropped 3 slacks off for alteration and dry cleaning. The owner said they would be ready in 4 days. Four days later, her recognized me, had the pants out ASAP with a big smile on his face. Pants were tailored perfectly (taken in about 5 inches and it was completely professionally done). The bill was $ 72 which may be a touch steep, but the three pairs of pants fit like new and looked great. This place is a little ways from me, so I might not go back for everyday dry-​cleaning, but if I ever need anything altered again I will definitely come back!

I’ve been going to this cleaner for over six years and have never had a problem. They are courteous, honest and do a great job! I’ve also had them alter a number of items over the years (mostly hemming pants and fixing some tears in skirts), and quality has been tremendous. I had a bad experience with a DC-​based dry cleaner in the past, and that experience makes me appreciate the staff at Kingdom Cleaners so much more because they are wonderful compared to others! In fact, they were referred to me by a former colleague and many of our co-​workers use Kingdom now too and everyone has had a great experience! I would recommend them to anyone I know– keep up the good work!

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I had a brand new dress that I had only worn once and they ruined it completely. I took it here to get cleaned because it was wrinkled and I was planning to wear it to an event the next evening. When I picked it up the man apologized and said the dress was ruined. He said there was a stain on it and they tried really hard to get out (this stain was not there when I brought it in. I know this because I inspected it and considered steaming it myself to get the wrinkles out). After a couple of minutes of explaining his tremendous effort to remove the stain (that they caused) he turned my dress over and there was a huge tear and rip on the bottom of it! It literally looked as if a dog decided it was a chew toy. He asked if I could «just cut the bottom off and make it shorter». The dress is mid-​thigh length to begin with and more importantly I liked it the way it was! I don’t want a shorter dress. Shortening it would make it inappropriate to wear to certain events. Worst experience ever! DO NOT BRING YOUR CLOTHES HERE.

Great quality and attention to customer service and a wonderful, friendly owner. We have been going here for more than 10 years and even though we moved outside of Old Town and it requires a little more time to get there, it’s worth the trip.

Per the other Unilocal reviews, they may be great at cleaning (I dont know b/​c I havent used them for that) but they are terrible at alterations!
I tried to get my jeans taken in at the waist. The fabric was bunched at each side (instead of darts put into the back) making my hips look even bigger… A look most most women frown upon!
I went back to discuss but we couldnt reach an understanding that made me feel OK with giving my favorite jeans back to them again! And they wouldnt give a refund. Ill take them to my regular tailor (near my house, not work) and get it fixed.
Ugh, Im out $ 40 (plus the $ I have to spend to have them fixed again) and not happy and wont be heading back here for alterations nor for cleaning.

Love these guys. No matter what I have cleaned there the garments are perfectly pressed. I’ve had my trench coat cleaned there twice and each time they’ve pressed every strap and buckle separately making it look better then when I bought it new.

We have used Kingdom cleaners for over six years and wouldn’t consider using anyone else. The quality of their work is superb, the owner who works in the store friendly and attentive. This dry cleaners can actually dry clean a tie without ruining it.

This place is the best! They are magicians at getting even the toughest stains out of clothes. Also– they do great alterations.
