Martini’s on Main

You will be hard pressed to find better cuts of meat better prepared than at Martinis on Main. I am unaware of any restaurant in the Chicagoland area that serves 30,40 and 50 day dry aged steaks. The pricing is very fair for the excellent quality. The bacon wrapped scallops are as large and fresh as if you were sitting ocean side in Naples. As a resident of Geneva I can say with confidence that patrons of 3^rd St. establishments only wish they could frequent a resturant such as this. As a traveler who has dined in bistros in every major city in the country I can say with conviction that Martinis on Main is the real deal.
I have enjoyed Martinis on Main on over three dozen occasions.

So I went back to my favorite spot to grab a bit and quickly regretted the experience. There was a half ass owner/​bartender trying to serve customers at the bar while also what looked like cook my steak. Needless to say it was horribly over cooked and even appetizers tasted sub par. Martinis on main use to be my favorite spot to grab steak and now sadly I will not be returning.

Wow! Just left martinis on main! My girlfriend and I stopped for dinner. The server said she would clear a table we wanted. The owner lady that battened came over VERY Rude said there’s no way in hell we are sitting there pick a table already set I have one server and one cook!!! Yes she said no way in hell! She shouldn’t be a restaurant owner if she can’t handle it! Take some midol last we will never go back with that kind of treatment.

Wow what fantastic burgers and drinks. This place will definitely be my fiancé and I’s go to date place.

First visit: Beside having my steak overcooked, spiders prowling and ants roaming around us. The place wasn’t too bad. The waiter was Great and the staff appeared friendly and accommodating. For my overcooked steak, I was offered another steak and a free dessert. Maybe the second visit will be better than the first. The atmosphere was lively and inviting.

This was our first time here. And I have to say it was absolutely fantastic. We are definitely sticklers for new places. So I was greatly impressed with the customer service from Kelly the bartender who is not only beautiful but sweet as can be. The group of us (4) would recommend the pear martini, blood orange, raspberry too. Also we got the artichoke dip and the fire cracker shrimp were delicious and definitely sharable. If you have been skeptical about coming to this place then I give you my word it’s worth it. Go to it you won’t regret it. :)

I went on a Tuesday night and made a reservation because I wasn’t sure what it would be like since its small, and there were 2 tables occupied. It is a small place though with maybe 10 tables and a small bar. This was my first time there and our server Brenden was excellent and very attentive. Probably the nicest server I’ve had at a restaurant. The drinks were perfect and the food turned out better than expected, just enough to fill you without being overwhelming.
If you’re looking for a quaint and cozy place for a few drinks or a romantic dinner for 2, this place is perfect.

This place is low key and fun. The drinks are good, leaning mostly to the girlie side. Orange Julius and French Martini were really really good. Did try the food, hate there is a TV in a place (come on what real cocktail lounge has a TV behind the bar) am I suppose to watch the Bears game while I sip a Cosmo??? The place is a good date place, small, good service and fun.

Almost ruined our valentines evening. Server didn’t know his wines. Didn’t have any recommendations he liked everything. We were sat in front of the door that was constantly opening so I was never able to take my coat off and then was asked when we were leaving because they needed the table. Plainly rude.

I was there for the first time on Saturday with my girlfriend. The service was great and the food was outstanding. My girl had the rack of lamb and I had the duck. This is a very cool little place that you should check out.

Martini on Main, Algonquin. Thanks for ruining which was to be a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner. Purchased your Groupon and made dinner reservations (mentioning Groupon) for today 3 weeks ago. Sat down at table and waitress advised could not use Groupon. I stated I told at time of reservation I had Groupon and No Where on Groupon does it state it excludes Valentine’s Day. Owner comes next stating rudely that I did not tell her about Groupon when I made reservation with her (how does she remember me calling?) and does not have the food advertised as part of Groupon. She will NOT honor Groupon! So we walked out. First and last time customer at this establishment! Have to give it a 1 star doesn’t accept a no star rating

Have only visited once with a couple girlfriends for an after dinner cocktail. We had a great time, and we ended up staying for two or three! Look forward to coming back for a bite to eat with our drinks next time! The food passing by looked delicious!

As the title states, the food is great, the ambiance is great, but the staff leaves A LOT to be desired. We have been there twice, and to watch them disallow some people from entering just because they didn’t like the way they looked is horrible. They hold tables for «reservations» and they don’t actually have them from what it looks like. They make up their own short hours, and treat their guests like it’s a hassle for them to take their time when eating! Also, let it be noted that there are tables about 3 feet from the front door, and I would seriously suggest that you stay far, far away from the entrance door in the winter time because of the draft in there in the winter.
That being said, the food is great if you have enough time to eat it. The drinks are good but pricey. I would recommend the place down the street if you want to eat without getting bothered. It’s a shame, I would like to love this place

Best steaks I’ve ever had! Been here numerous times and never disappointed! Chef Matt is amazing and the martinis are delicious! Worth every penny!

It was our first and last visit to this restaurant. The steak was very fatty, the vegetables, including the potatoes, were very salty and the shrimp which doubled the price of my salad was not prepared well! The food was definitely not worth the cost! We tried calling for reservations twice the night before we were going and the first time someone answered but put the phone down to ask about reservations and never came back. The second call went to voicemail. When we arrived the next evening we were asked if we had reservations. We said no and explained our attempts to call. They almost didn’t give us a table and all of the tables were empty except for one. There are too many other quality restaurants around to waste our time and money at Martinis on Main.

I was pretty bummed this place turned out to be a disappointment after being excited to give it a try. My boyfriend and I decided to walk down from Cucina Bella for an after dinner drink. When we walked in there was no one to greet us, sign, or hostess station to indicate we should wait to be seated so we were sort of standing/​wandering awkwardly around trying to figure out if you just sit or what; eventually hostess came back to seat us.
Server seemed to be newer and not have a good grasp of the menu. My boyfriend ordered a vesper and he hadn’t heard of it (ummm, classic James Bond martini), for a martini bar server you should know that; so after some confusion we thought it’d been worked out. When it arrived (to be served «up») it had many large chunks of ice floating around, not ok for martini! Also, my boyfriend said it didn’t taste like it should.
I ordered the grasshopper, and although I knew it had ice cream, when it arrived it was so thick I could hardly drink it, and it wasn’t served with a spoon or anything; also it tasted like I was drinking a mint extract shaved ice, so I sent it back. Got the raspberry chocolate martini instead which was ok, nothing special, and there was so much syrup garnish on the inside of the glass that it just got so syrupy/​sweet I really didn’t enjoy it.
Next time I would stay at Cucina Bella for drinks instead as I really wasn’t impressed by this place!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here last night. We made a reservation for an early time so we could go somewhere to watch the Hawks game so even though we had reservations we were able to be seated early before the dinner rush started.
Server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We both had the Filet Trio. Steaks were cooked to our specifications, medium rare and tasted excellent. The trio gives you a bit more meat than the other filet on the menu and you comes with a bernaise on one, garlic/​parmesan crust on the other and blue cheese crust on the third. Grilled asparagus was very good and the loaded baked potato was awesome… couldn’t finish it. I had a Pear Martini, Strawberry Delight Martini and my wife had the Raspberry Lemon Drop martini. All were excellent, the strawberry was my favorite as it had a strawberry purée in it.
Prices were a little high but expected for this type of experience. Appreciated that the atmosphere and service was friendly and not stuffy as some places could be.

Very cute place, would be a great date night. They have great martinis. Tried the choc raspberry, strawberry delight, French, and grasshopper, they were all so good. Its easy to screw up a martini… Ive had my share lol but they have a bartender who knows what they are doing. We got a free appetizer from Unilocal thank you Unilocal !! We tried the artichoke and cheese fondue … WOW AND YUM comes to mind you get a good size bowl of it with toasted bread. We didnt eat dinner there but the plates that were coming out were BIG so it looks like you get your moneys worth. I felt underdressed, its not a jeans and hoodie place more like nice jeans, sweater, and boots type of place!
I will definitely be visiting again!
