Attorney Jeff Hsu is a Certified Bankruptcy Specialist through the State Bar of California. Prior to starting JCH Law Firm, Jeff worked for a former chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee. Jeff was a judicial extern to a Los Angeles Bankruptcy Judge and a clinical intern with the U.S. Trustee’s Bankruptcy Office. Jeff participated in the 17th Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition and earned the «Outstanding Brief» award for his legal arguments on chapter 11 corporate reorganization matters.

I was conned for a large amount of money, then, the con man went bankrupt.
It’s a long and painful story, in short, this is the kind of person
that would take your grandma’s life’s savings, her social security check and
spend all of it on cocktails with the devil.
Jeff Hsu saw me through to a stipulated judgement, and he was able to spare me the additional expense of going all the way through trial and achieved the same end result.
Jeff is reasonable and trustworthy, and was available to talk me off the ledge, several times… He explained, as well as anyone could, the insanity of our legal
system…without making my head explode !

I called various attorney’s in the San Gabriel Valley and most kind of rubbed me the wrong way. So I researched more and based on Jeff’s Unilocal reviews decided to give him a call. I called him and he directly answered and I briefly discussed my situation and then made an appointment a week later to meet for a thorough consultation. I spoke with Attorney Jeff Hsu regarding questions I had about a possible joint interest in some real estate property of a recently deceased individual. Jeff is knowledgeable, professional, and extremely helpful. On top of that, he is a great listener and provides meaningful feedback and legal advice. I highly recommend Jeffrey Hsu for all your bankruptcy related needs! As a landlord in CA (where the law highly favors the tenants) we found ourselves in a complicated eviction process where a tenant tried to avoid eviction through filing for bankruptcy. As you can imagine, the process had already been drawn out into a nightmare situation and that’s when we hired Jeffrey in hopes that he could do something to help us. Jeffrey did an absolutely amazing job taking the time to explain everything to us — the process, our rights and what our best options were. We really appreciated how open and honest he was — he is definitely NOT one of those lawyers that feed you nonsense trying to get you to spend more money for something that they already know isn’t worth it. He is GREAT with communication — always giving us updates with any progress or changes for our case. In the end, he managed to get our attorney fees back which was unexpected because we had pretty much kissed those fees goodbye from the start! I had a complicated bankruptcy matter, which required chapter 11 expertise. After reading the reviews about Jeff and checking out his website, I decided to meet with him and see if he could help. I am so glad I did because Jeff is awesome. Jeff laid things out and explained the process of chapter 11 filings for small businesses that are incorporated. Jeff was really honest with me and told me the odds of the case either being converted to chapter 7 or having our objectives stymied by the filing of a motion for relief from stay from one of the bigger creditors was very high. I was able to take that information and process the cost benefit of filing the chapter 11. In the end, I decided to just dissolve the company and walk away rather than throw more money away into a sinking ship.
It was always going to be a terrible situation, but meeting with Jeff made it infinitely less painful. Jeff is a sincere person who is truly compassionate and knowledgeable. He really cares about people, and as a potential client, I really appreciated that and want to spread the word. If you are thinking about any type of bankruptcy in any form, you really should seek Jeff out and at least talk to him before going with someone else. He really knows his stuff and looks out for your best interests.

When my relatives needed to decide whether to file for bankruptcy, I consulted Attorney Jeffrey Hsu. His analysis and advice helped calm their fears. He gave them a clear action plan about the type of bankruptcy they would need to file if they did proceed. Fortunately, they were able to avoid bankruptcy.

Someone in my family was facing a difficult legal situation and their home was involved. The family member hired an attorney claiming to do bankruptcy work in Los Angeles and was served with a legal objection from the United States Trustee because they claimed my family member didn’t qualify for bankruptcy under section 707. When that happened, the so-​called «expert» couldn’t explain anything.
The family member didn’t know what to do so we did some digging and came across Jeff’s website and realized he know what he’s talking about. Jeff was able to help out big time. He explained exactly what was going on and why my family member couldn’t qualify for chapter 7 bankruptcy. Jeff also informed us of our options. He said it was possible to fight the objection and overcome it, abut he was honest and said that the chances were low and that it would cost a least a few thousand dollars to fight because the process would require appearing in front of the judge and writing and arguing legal briefs.
Even though Jeff didn’t speak our native tongue, he was very trustworthy and made us feel very comfortable. My family member decided not to fight the US Trustee, but had we done so, Jeff would have been the right attorney for the job. Our only regret is that we didn’t hire Jeff from the beginning. I really feel the outcome could have been different had we done so.
