History

Established in 2008.

I started working in the heating and air conditioning business in April of 1999. The company I worked for was very focused on quality work. We had a reputation of quality work and because of this, people where willing to pay a little bit more. We took our time installing a new system right. Even if it sometimes ment not making much of a profit.

That was the case until a big corporation bought the company and decided to squeeze the life out of it. That was when I left and decided to go on my own. I got my license, started my business and figured out that I was right. People still want quality work at a reasonable price.

Many times I have gone to a home and heard this from the home owner

” They didn’t come to see if they could fix it. They came to sell me something I didn’t want at a ridiculous price!” Bottom line is: «Quality at a reasonable price» still exists.

Hello, my name is J. Manuel Valdovinos owner of The Air Conditioning Guy. I started in the heating and air conditioning field in April of 1999. I found this type of work to be very gratifying and customers can always tell when you enjoy what you do. My main focus was quality, so that if another company saw my work they would have absolutely nothing wrong to say about it.

When the company I had been working for was sold to a corporation, quality wasn’t on the top of their list. Volume is what they wanted and at ridiculous prices. Approximately two years later I was let go because I didn’t fit there agenda.

That was probably the best thing that ever happened to me. That is when I realized that in order for me to do the kind of quality work that customers expected of me I would have to start my own company. No more arguing for permission to do the right thing.

Talk about passion for what you do, so when you see that in people you KNOW and EXCEPT their best from them, and that’s exactly what you get from Manuel and his team. Reliable, dedicated, diligent, and respect all come with their service, and Manuel makes it comfortable enough for the customer not be hesitant about approaching him with anything that they’re uncomfortable with so he can make it right for them. When the job is done smart and done right giving a peace of mind along with comfort it’s then worth every penny.

Called this place and spoke to Manuel. We made appointment for a Saturday job.
Manuel is really courteous and very professional !! Without being requested, he had already prepared and used shoe cover upon entering my house, and took them off while walking out to make sure my house stays clean. This is a BIG PLUS as some vendors I’d worked with in the past simply refuse to wear one citing insurance as an excuse, so I just have to show them the door. The other plus point I would like to bring up about Manuel is, he really LOVES his work and a very HONEST man. I had called around before deciding to go with him, and most places simply quote you a ridiculously high number and simply because they can, not because they perform better.

Service was fine but price was not as advertised. I’m fine with the $ 99 service call price that is applied to any work.
Capacitor was out and it is a 15 minute job. $ 221? They will not split parts and labor. The part online is $ 25.
Almost $ 200 for labor?

A few weeks ago we called The Air Conditioning Guy to come to our house to repair our ac unit after our dog bit through all our wires on our unit. We were pretty nervous that we might wind out being overcharged for the repair so we chose this company based on Unilocal reviews. We were not disappointed we received excellent quality service at a reasonable rate. Manuel was polite, professional, and took the time to explain how our unit works to my husband and I. He also gave us tips on how to maintain it since we just recently moved into our house. I would not hesitate to use this company again and would recommend it to friends and family.

These guys are very skilled at solving problems and not charging an arm and a leg! After 2 other AC companies quoted me 600 $ + worth of labor to troubleshoot and flush out my system, and possibly replace the system, these guys came in and solved it in 1 hour, without replacing anything. They are very honest and have superior skills.
At the end of the day, I spent 393 $ with 3 different AC repair companies, but had I gone here the first place, it would have been under 150 $. I almost got talked into replacing the entire system from another company!

Cannot recommend The Air Conditioning Guy highly enough! Manny totally cares about the quality of his work. Came to fix my A/​C today. At first I thought I might have to replace compressor, which would have been big bucks. :-(Or possibly replace entire unit, which would have been even bigger bucks. :O Manny was able to fix it. Super happy camper. Paid $ instead of $$$. I’ve been a satisfied customer for many years. Have and will continue to recommend The Air Conditioning Guy to friends and family.

Manny and Michael just installed a new central air conditioning system for us. We have an old home which had never had air conditioning. They were true professionals and did a wonderful job figuring out how to install the system so that it is perfect for us and our home. The price was very reasonable, they were very conscientious about disturbing us as little as possible and making sure the house was left clean at the end of the day. It was a true pleasure doing business with them and I would recommend them highly to everyone.

This «kudo» is waaaaaaaaaay overdue – sorry Mike. It all started when Frank visited first back at the end of November and had to tell me the vent in my wall heater needed to be replaced. I was really shocked/​upset/​overwhelmed at how much it would cost. .. and Frank seemed genuinely sorry to have to tell me the cost. Installing a new vent is obviously no easy task. Then Mike arrives at the scheduled time – even calling me in advance to let me know they were coming. VERY long story short – my old house was NOT being cooperative to simply replace the vent. Mike worked HARD and LONG that day, and eventually was able to get it installed. BUT he wasn’t quite sure due to the complications he had – and left me his phone number to call him if my heater was again, not working! My appointment was on a Saturday. .. on Sunday morning, unfortunately my heater proceeded not to work again. So I reluctantly called Mike (mind you, this was on a Sunday) and informed him. He said he would be at my place the next day. Again, he spent time struggling with the old vent – trying to replace it with the new vent. After all that time and effort, I had to end up installing the vent on TOP of my roof, as there was a construction problem in the wall that prevented a new vent to be installed. Again, he spent SEVERAL hours on this 2nd appointment. I was absolutely impressed with all his time, effort, and I’m sure his frustration. He is absolutely the «go to» guy. .. I’m also absolutely impressed with the entire company.

Excellent service. Frank and Robert are both top notch technicians. They were able to come out the next day to check my A/​C and find what the real problem is. Robert was able to find me an electrician right away and my ac is working again
Cynthia at the front office is also really good on follow up. I know they are swap due to the recent heat wave, but Cynthia called me back at 11 pm to help me schedule a next day appointment. I will definitely recommend them to all my friends and relatives.

Robert was professional with a phone call before coming, booties for his shoes and a standard cost sheet. He went right to work and told me what the problem was. He had the parts we needed and was done sooner than I thought it would be. Fabulous service! My tenants called me and said the air conditioner stopped blowing cold air during the string of HOT days we’ve been having. Being a first time landlord I wanted to make sure I took care of my tenants. I called and left a message in the morning and got a call back from Cinthia telling me that there was a canceling and the repair guy can be there in 45 minutes. Awesome! But too bad my tenant was no where to be found and I couldn’t get access to the roof where the unit was. I called Cinthia back and she was able to move my appointment to 3pm.
First point to make. I got an actual appointment time and not a range. Awesome!
I called to confirm my new appointment time since my tenant got home. Ok, I left a few frantic voicemails, and Cinthia called me back and we laughed about my panic calls. The service guy (Mike) was still in the neighborhood and got to the condo early. The inspection and repairs were done within 45 minutes! Mike checked more than he needed to, which is great and changed the filter for me on top of making the needed repairs. He even inspected the rest of the unit and told me what repairs I might expect in the future and advised me of what maintenance I should be doing to keep it running well.
Mike sent the invoice over to Cinthia, we got on the phone, paid the invoice over the phone and the invoice is in my inbox. Tenants happy. Landord happy. Everything is great thanks for Cinthia and Mike. Thank you so much!

The 5-​star rating is for The Air Conditioning Guy’s excellent customer service. The entire team is professional, courteous and friendly.
A half hour before our scheduled appointment, Robert called to say he’d already arrived in our area, if we could see him early. He spent about an hour checking out the house and discussing with my husband what we wanted to have done.
Although they ultimately decided not to take on our special-​needs HVAC problem, they did refer us to the excellent Marcel Llorens. He took the job and brought us cold air, saving us from from being cooked to death in our own home.
It wouldn’t have happened without the good people at The Air Conditioning Guy, who cheerfully took all our calls and ended up giving us great free advice.

Let me tell you a story about a hero named Frank. We had a huge party planned for Saturday, I mean epic party. This was the kind of party songs will be sung about for many generations. We had food arranged, kegs chilling, bouncy house bouncing, playlists set, decorations mounted… then the air conditioner goes out on Friday at 8 PM. I contacted 7 different a/​c repair companies that night. I couldn’t reach anyone and despair set in. So I drank a few beers and wallowed in the 98 F misery. Frank called me within 2 hours and set up a morning service call. My a/​c was fixed and improved for a reasonable price 3 hours before any guests arrived. Frank didn’t wear a cape that day, but maybe he should. Not one other company contacted me until the following Tuesday. Don’t mess around, call these guys.

We chose this company to do a full AC maintenance based on the number of positive reviews on the Unilocal.Frank and Robert provided the service and they were very polite and professional. Because our compressor was very old, Frank didn’t recommend us to do the full maintenance since it will do more harm. They only charged us for the basic maintenance visit. Will definite use them again for future service.

AC started blowing warm air. Ok. Let’s look at Unilocal.
Talked to Frank over the phone, easy guy to talk to. Not some a-​hole middle eastern guy that immediately starts an argument with you.
But like everyone, they all want more than $ 50 dollars to travel to your location for a free inspection.
I avoided what would have been a $ 500 dollar repair by watching YouTube and disconnecting the power, and replacing the run/​start capacitor I purchased at Grainger for $ 7 (that’s right, seven dollars!) and threw the switch and the compressor and fan were back in business full speed and ice cold air was flowing in the house.
I understand that there is potential to get hurt with electricity etc. but you can also get hurt filling up your car at the gas station.
You can save a bunch of money by fixing it yourself. Seven dollars for a capacitor when your AC guy will charge hundreds to replace it in 2 minutes. Do the math.
That should shed some light on how profitable this business is for these guys.
