Thrifty Ice Cream

happy new year 2013! 1^st review of the year…
it’s been a while since i posted a review, but it’s time to break the ice… literally, as i’m going to write about ice cream!
i love how whenever i visit so cal, i can pretty much find a thrifty’s inside every rite aid store. even better, my hubby grew up in so cal, so he knows where all the rite aids are!
we came here after lunch, since it was only a shopping center away, and brought our friend here since he was not aware of thrifty’s ice cream.
i chose a single scoop of coconut pineapple in a cup ($ 1.69), and as expected, it was a pretty big one scoop serving. the ice cream itself tasted ok, i would have liked more coconut and more pineapple flavour, but at this price, i will say it was worth it.
hubby got a double scoop, consisting of black cherry and strawberry ($ 2.49), which was about ready to spill over in the small cup it was so big! according to him, the strawberry was superior to the black cherry in taste. i tried the strawberry and it was pretty good.
while the ice cream could have tasted better, the prices cannot be beat. and where else could a so cal boy get that nostalgic feeling from his childhood?
already looking forward to my next visit to so cal and hunting down more thrifty’s ice cream stands!
