We came here today because my husband is a huge Hastings fan and we don’t have one in Dallas. After spending time walking the aisles and digging through DVDs and CDs, we gathered our haul and headed to check out. In the end, we purchased 5 movies &3 CDs. Our total came to $ 45. What a steal! We utilized the $ 5 off Unilocal check-in offer, thanks Unilocal!,and scored a $ 1DVDS because of the bundling sale. The prices are hit or miss, I have discovered. My only other complaint is their bathroom. Gross. I could tell it had not be cleaned in awhile and it smelled awful. I know this sounds silly, but it is another way to value your employees and your customers.

I purchased battlefield 4 for Xbox 360 for 49.99 plus tax. When I got home I realized the game was used. I contacted the store and was told that the used games sell for 39.99, so I went back to the store and was told that I fact the game I bought was new, but they open all there new game and keep them upfront to prefect theft. Total BS! The game CDs hand many pits and scratches on the back of cd. Very obvious this game was used and ran thru their cleaning machine to be sold as NEW. I returned the cd and went to Walmart down the street and purchased a NEWCOMPLETELYSEALED game got 29.99

Hasting’s must hate video-games. They shove videogames into a tiny space with no room to walk around other customers so that I feel like I cannot browse, and if I do actually find something I’d like, I need to call for assistance to get the locked cases open. Also, it’s not like they don’t have the space. The isles next to plastic toys and T-shirts are wide and pleasant. Likewise, if you are someone who actually buys video, they use 30% of the store to you. Another 30% is for books, 15% for the coffee shop and magazines, and 20% for music. This leaves videogames crammed into 5% of the floor-space. The truth is I have a digital answer for every section of their store other than console videogames too. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon for video, or ebooks for reading, and Spotify or Pandora for music. This was a company who was around before Gamestop and that could have grown their video-game section to have gotten a piece of the billions of dollars that Gamestop brings in each year.. . but they consistently refuse to adapt despite being a media retailer.

I ordered from . Their address is at their Plains Blvd. wherehouse in Amarillo, Texas. Price was good for a used trade cloth hardcover and there was only 95 cent shipping for my book. Takes a while to arrive, though. About a week. HOWEVER… What I’m Unilocaling, though, is the fact that the used book I purchased had an $ 8.99 sticker price for customers at their store. I ordered it online and the book was $ 10.99 for me. This has nothing to do with tax or shipping either. They obviously charge their ONLINE customers MORE than their INSTORE ones. I’m thinking of calling them at the 1 – 800 # about this. That’s ridiculous and it’s really shoddy, poor customer service…

I ordered something from Hastings on Amazon they advertised at a fair price($ 80). Then they did a total«bait and switch». What they sent me was something with a similar name, but with a retail price available many other retailers for $ 30. I tried to contact them, but they make it very hard to reach them. They shipped me the incorrect item full knowing they were sending me something I DIDNOTORDER. When I finally reached them, they tried to convince me to keep the item I did not order by giving me a partial credit back. I refused this, as I never wanted what they sent me to begin with. They have yet to make this right for me. I am still not credited back my $ 90(with shipping). Apparently, they have done this same thing to many other people. How are they allowed to continue this behavior?

Although I eventually found what I wanted, the store itself was fairly disorganized. There were definite problems with the merchandise being moved around and not subsequently cleaned up. That being said, this place has some good prices on used music. I walked out with several CDs for very reasonable prices and was quite pleased with my purchases.

My perilous pursuit of renting movies on this wild road trip(to distract from the immense spiritual pain that being on an artistic journey of self-discovery sometimes brings) sadly continues. We didn’t have Katya’s membership card with us, but they were so frustrating about it, and gave us blank, condescending stares and staunchly refused to accept a phone number and personal info in lieu of said membership card. We were trying to rent The Brothers Solomon — I mean, come on, does anyone really rent that other than nerdy-ass homeschoolers who are obsessed with punctuality? We are GOING to return it, and we are going to return it on time, and we will dispute any late charges! Also, they make cute employees in training wear badges that announce their status as «in training,» which I think is the devil. I suggested that the gentleman in question promptly rebel. I also suggest that someone start a rad independent video rental joint in Amarillo and escape the corporate tyranny of this establishment.

The CDs are way overpriced here and the extra charge certainly isn’t to make up for the customer service– there isn’t any! Clueless staff, messy unorganized store, go ANYWHERE else if you can.

UPDATE: They have moved to a new store across the street. The layout is very reminiscent of borders or Barnes and noble. The dimly lit and layout problems are gone. They even have a new coffee bar. Beware however, they serve it at lawsuit temperatures. It was scalding after 10 minutes. The staff seems to be ill trained in helping and directing people which is bothersome, especially when you have 1 thing to buy and just want to pay. Additionally, I can’t imagine how they stay in business. Their prices are at least 30% higher than other stores. Still, the new store is an improvement with a nice layout. Just train that staff. Dimly lit and huge, one has trouble understanding the logic of the layout. They had TONS of different CDs, DVDs, Books, etc, but I found it difficult to navigate. Still, if you’re looking for the top 20 on any chart, they’ll have it.
