Founded in 2007 and opened in October of 2009, our Vineyard has a three-​fold mission: to produce premium wines made from classic vinifera-​grapes; to promote responsible land-​use and building practices; and to provide a warm and inviting venue where people can gather with friends and family or explore the natural wonders of our rural landscape.

Our landscape provides a beautiful backdrop to celebrate life’s most memorable events including weddings, anniversaries, family reunions, and graduation parties. We cultivate 11 different grape varieties and only serve what we grow on our premises. We offer many classic white and red wines in addition to popular Ohio wines made from native American grapes. Try an old time fruit wine like our exceptional persimmon wine made from fresh fruits from our own land.

While tasting wine and drinking a bottle with us, try a food pairing from our delectable food menu. Everything we serve takes advantage of seasonal bounty from our own gardens, local farms & orchards, markets, and boutique producers.

History

Established in 2007.

Vermilion Valley Vineyards was founded in 2007 and opened to the public in October of 2009. Our Vineyard has a three-​fold mission: to produce premium wines made from classic vinifera-​grapes; to promote responsible land-​use and building practices; and to provide a warm and inviting venue where people can gather with friends and family or explore the natural wonders of our rural landscape. Meet the Business Owner

Joe F.

Business Owner

Joseph P. Fowler is a Partner in and Winegrower for Vermilion Valley Vineyards. He started making wine with his family at the age of 10. At age 13, he began work in the wine industry at a large winery in Sandusky.

Joe learned a wide range of business skills while working at a number of north central Ohio wineries.

Today, Joe is the youngest person in the State of Ohio to own a stake in a winery.

Joe started working at Vermilion Valley Vineyards when the winery first opened its doors in 2009. He is responsible for managing the vineyard, inventory and important records. He also serves as primary liaison with area wineries and experts at the Ohio State wine-​growing program, located in Wooster, Ohio.
