Absolutely horrible doctor! In my opinion he is the worst doctor I have ever been to. Completely screwed up so many times on something so minor. He is rude and arrogant and honestly I cant believe anyone has anything good to say about this guy.

Not happy with this doc. He immediately looked at my face and chest and wrote up a prescription for three medications that cost me almost $ 500 WITH my insurance. I understand everyone has a different reaction and get different results, but the meds were ineffective for me. He did not ask me about my diet, active life, acne history, etc. I am very disappointed that I wasted my time and A LOT of money seeing this doctor. I’m simply using black African soap to cleanse my skin and raw apple cider vinegar as a toner, and the combo is working out better for me than what this doc planned for me

I wish all doctors were like Ken. After years of suffering with chronic pain, Ken was the first doctor who did the work and really figured out what was going on. I’ve been pain-​free for ten years now. That’s not a coincidence: it’s because Ken worked the problem and he cares about more than just throughput and billing. To all the lousy doctors who billed me, told me it was «stress,» and sent me home, well, turned out it was an allergy and all I had to do was change my diet slightly to avoid all that pain. If only all doctors were like Ken.

Very knowledgable, wise and friendly!

I tried to make an appoiniment. The person answering didnt seem to know what to do and the lack of basic english skills made me hang up and not bother to make the rest of the appointment. First impressions are usually the right ones.

While I was at Boston, I had developed what was diagnosed as Eczema on my right bicep and after returning from a visit to my grandparents in Taiwan, it began to spread to the back of my knee, other bicep, and hips. Awesome.
After seeing my Philip Cheu, my PCP, I was referred to a dermatologist and I chose Dr. Alpern. As a fellow UCSD graduate (a plus!), he was very aggressive in treatment and had me on prednisone, antibiotics for secondary infection, fluocinonide steroid ointment, and even Duac for my chronic face acne (which I didn’t even ask for!)
Be aware that he may be late to his morning appointments as he travels from West LA. The nurse even warned me when I made the appointment. Despite that, I still recommend him. He can be hard to book but call both Talbert Medical locations in Anaheim 714.995.1000 and Huntington Beach 714.968.0068 to see where he is available. I originally had an appointment two weeks later but after calling again at the Anaheim location, I was able to see him later the same week. He even ask me during the office visit if he was hard to schedule for.
