Comfort Inn & Suites University South

Hot hot tub. Clean, comfortable room. Across the street from Briarwood Mall. :) Same side of the street as Wendy’s, Burger King and Buffalo Wild Wings. Make sure when you drive, you use Victor’s Way, Boardwalk Drive, and Eisenhower to… get back… to State Street, you will thank me later! (State Street is lacking «Michigan Lefts») It is very close to I-​94. Great filling breakfast, eggs, sausage, waffles, danishes.

Poor customer service, rude staff, all around cheap at the expense of the guests.
We accidentally booked for the wrong date; the manager agreed to switch the dates for a $ 25 upcharge (no cancellation refunds allowed), then charged us for both nights plus the upcharge. Trying to get the problem fixed with the heavily accented staff was not easy, and they didn’t refund the extra money they took.
Even without this problem, I would give the hotel 1 – 2 stars.
Comfort Inn & Suites are typically nice and have good amenities, in my experience. This one was all around an unpleasant stay. Insanely small and uncomfortable rooms, almost non-​existent wifi, cheap gross breakfast, rude staff.

We are here for our nieces graduation at Michigan. We only made serrations about two weeks ago so we feel lucky to have found a room. $ 269 for the night is a bit steep for here but I guess supply and demand rules. I just don’t like it when price gorging happens.
The room was fine. Nothing special but clean and comfortable. Nice big bed with plenty of pillows. I slept well. Pretty standard finishes. Hallway carpet looked stained but had been cleaned. Probably bad choice of designer selecting a light grey in heavy traffic areas.
Our room had a jacuzzi tub which might have added to the cost. Again lucky to find a room. We never used it but knew when the neighbors used theirs at 11PM after we had gone to sleep. It sounded like a jet taking off inside our room. Super noisy.
Free wifi which was great. Albeit slow and disconnects each time.
The small refrigerator, microwave and coffee stand was perfect if we needed anything but all we planned on using was the coffee maker. Unfortunately it wasn’t even plugged in. My wife had to move it to the sink since there wasn’t enough plug ins. That just doesn’t make sense. So also the coffee maker didn’t work. The coffee just filled up in the top of it. That was so frustrating.
Breakfast was your typical. Nothing over the top but pretty complete. Overall a fair stay that I’d return to but not during high season if I had a less expensive choice.

We just finished a four night stay and we will be back next time we are in Ann Arbor. Comfortable king size bed, large undercounter refrigerator, flat screen TV, strong shower. The room was well cleaned every day. The continental breakfast had a lot of variety including hard boiled eggs. Staff was super friendly. Agree with the front parking challenges at night but there is another lot tucked in the back with access to a back door with your room key. All in all a very good value.

From reading some of the other reviews, I was like, Yikes. but they are all fairly old, so the Hotel has done some improvements since then.
We had a very pleasant 4 night stay. The staff was polite, the room was clean, the pillows were comfy, and if you don’t have any major allergies the breakfast looked pretty good.
I noticed on the weekend, that if you return to the hotel late, you might not find a parking spot out in the front lot. It seemed to fill up in late evening, and some people were half parking on the grass in the driveway/​fire lane.
I also found the wifi was sometimes hard to connect to. I’d assume it was «peak» times that my devices couldn’t find it, or it was painfully slow. But, it was free.

Stayed here for three nights for the football game. Had a pleasant stay. Hotel staff very friendly and courteous. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The only negative I have is do not stay on the first floor by the dining area. It tends to get very loud. Also, sometimes early in the morning, I heard a male subject speaking Spanish loudly in the hallway by the employee storage/​work area. He is probably an employee because who else would be speaking Spanish. Overall, good experience but next time I will stay on the 2^nd or 3^rd floor.

I am not that hard to please, but this place was really bad. The outside keyed-​entry door was broken (thus no key needed). Our room door had to be pushed shut otherwise it didn’t lock. The room smelled like ckgarette smoke and there was hair in the mini fridge. One of our 2 rooms wasn’t cleaned the entire 3 days we were there (towels were just left outside the door). There were dirty serving spoons left in the breakfast room all day, the milk was curdled, and what was in the warmer was inedible. The soda machine was empty (couldn’t get change anyway as they don’t keep over $ 1.00 in change at the front desk. The washer worked, but the soap dispenser was empty (stole my $ 2.00). And they screwed up the billing. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable, and the help was nice & friendly.

I gave it three stars because the young lady at the front desk actually cared that my 1^st room was crawling with ants!
After being moved to another room I was greeted by a large, comfortable king bed and large flat screen tv, in room micro and fridge and a large clean bathroom.
There are few places to walk to if your hungry, so order out or drive about 10 minutes into downtown or across the hwy to the mall.
I bet the ants will be beaten back for another year once maintenance gets on it in the morning. Happy Trails…:ants:… Lol

My husband is staying at the inn at this very moment. It’s an extremely uncomfortably hot day in Ann Arbor 97 °F. It is a 2 night’s stay and this is the 2^nd night. The hotel is not as comfortable as said, and surprisingly not as new. He’s traveled quite often
The hotel/​motel has lost power and there is no AC. The wifi is down. He’s been down at the reception many times and has called with no one answering the phone. He’s currently making the third trip down, furious.
These are mishaps that’s beyond anybody’s control, but how it’s handled, with no one to be reached, is pathetic.
Moreover, my husband has been using a sleep sack, it’s clearly not the hotel’s sheets but it’s carelessly taken away as such to be laundered and it’s lost. He’s not comfortable sleeping in direct contact of hotel bedding and did his own precaution towards it. He’s checking out tmr and I’m sure he’s not getting any sleep tonight.
I’m tempted to give it zero star because even without the power out, he’s told me the walls r paperthin and with very poor sound isolation for an average 2 star hotel from his experience, the ACs r so loud he can hear all of them humming in rooms around him, other guests showering, doing their business, everything can be heard.
ETA: now that he’s finally reached someone and complained about his lost item, they dug it out fr the DIRTY laundry pile of soiled sheets and hand it back to him as is with a sorta halfassed apology, unwrapped, unwashed and absolutely grossing him out in horror of their astonishing level of hygiene.

This Comfort Inn is a rather new hotel; so though the brand name is synonymous with «good enough hotel» this one is still quite nice and comparable in quality to a Fairfield Inn or Holiday Inn Express. And at a comparable quality it is $ 20 cheaper… so that’s nice. I came here for a night after midnight and the guy at the counter was super-​nice and also hooked me up with a small discount and extended my checkout time and all sorts of little things that made my stay better. The shower is strong and the room quite clean.
Though I can’t say the hotel is anything special, the customer service I received pushed it over the top of being just average. When I need to come back to Ann Arbor for a short stay I would definitely consider this hotel again.
