Weber’s Inn

We come to Webers twice a year when we visit our grandsons. While the property is a bit older it is very clean and well maintained. The staff always goes the extra mile and does so with a smile.

I am a huge Weber’s fan and always stay here when I’m in town. They have a great restaurant downstairs and super helpful and accommodating staff. Reasonably priced but top notch quality. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants a hassle free stay at a great place. Definitely a mandatory stop to get a good feel for what Ann Arbor has to offer.

Wait a few months until they’ve finished their renovations. Stayed at the hotel this Sunday. We were disappointed to find out (after we checked in) the pool was closed. Worse, we woke up to find out there was no hot water. Renovation work was noisy too.

I eat there for brunch today. Since it is Easter, I factored in that service would be a little slow and it would be crowded. The staff was friendly and the service was good considering it was a holiday. I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp and my friend ordered the scallops. I expected more food for the price. I was still hungry when I left.
They had a special Easter brunch and dinner menu. But the food was good.
Would I go again? Maybe. I think it was overpriced for the amount of food offered. But I do like the lounge area, the terrace as well as the pool in the hotel. So I would go back for the ambiance, music, drinks and atmosphere more than the food.

Last Sunday, I dined at Weber’s with a group of old friends and had such an awesome experience. Our waitress Janelle treated us incredibly well, explained a variety of dishes on the menu, and told us about the Lobster Week special. They have a new menu with handmade cocktails that were incredibly good — everyone at the table tried a different drink, and they were all exceptional. I ordered the Lobster, which came with some of the best lobster bisque that I’ve ever had. Hands down best lobster bisque I’ve ever had. Thanks for a great experience, Weber’s!

I have been to Weber’s many times over the years but have not been for awhile. I have only had great meals and tonight was no different.
I started with the French onion soup, it was delicious. Filet mignon was excellent and Hot fudge ice cream puff was a great end to my meal.

This review is for their Sunday brunch — I’m a huge fan of brunch, and I keep finding myself unable to resist returning back to Weber’s Inn for their wonderful, surprisingly affordable brunch. In addition to having my favorite eggs benedict, it includes everything else you could want from a brunch joint including a wide selection of meats, biscuits, mini waffles, fruit, pastries, great coffee, and some savory dishes, too! And while you enjoy the delicious food, there is a piano player who sets the mood in a restaurant full of natural light, energy, and happiness. This is definitely a place to take your significant other, friend from out of town, or visiting family members — just make sure to make a reservation or show up before 12 when the restaurant gets really busy. Had the Sunday brunch with a group, most everything, was excellent a few cooler dishes, i e. Eggs, & the eggs Benedict, but so many other great dishes to choose from. Always something for everyone to enjoy. Fresh little waffles with toppings. YUMMY

This review is for the hotel and meeting room/​catering staff.
If this were just a hotel review, it would have 1 star. I should probably preface this by saying I have had Marriott status for 10 years so maybe my standards are a little higher than other people. The basic room is very outdated. Move never seen such a large heating and cooling unit in a room. The bed was just ok. A huge frustration was the lack of easily accessible outlets. I feel like most people now sleep with their phone next to them for emergencies or to use as an alarm. I had to keep my phone on the desk to charge it because I couldn’t find the outlet behind the bed.
And the bathroom… I hope you are ready for TINY. I’m not sure why they have a door on the bathroom, it takes up so much space! The amenities seemed very old school. I was hoping this place was cool or modern or something different, but I was not impressed at all. Maybe the rooms off the pool are the cool ones?
Now I do need to mention the catering and event staff. I was here for a work meeting and the staff did an excellent job. They were on time, on point with all requests, and very nice. I have some dietary restrictions and one of the staff was more than accommodating to my needs. They are the only reason for the extra 2 stars!!!

RESTAURANT
if you go before 6 PM, you can get a prime rib dinner with dessert for $ 22, which is not bad of a deal. HOWEVER, the prime rib was the second worst prime rib i’ve had. it tasted old, not fresh and juicy, and wasn’t medium rare at all.
the cheesecake was alright but the crust was crumbling badly.
the server was kind of rude.
the only good thing about the meal was the free salmon pâté that came with the bread.
ROOM
don’t expect to take a hot shower because the water will be lukewarm at best!
if you get a room by the pool, it will be very noisy from all the kids making a ruckus.
their WIFI is the worst!!! disconnected every 5 seconds, making it impossible to get any work done! we’re not in 2005; we’re in 2015 where fast wifi is available everywhere.

This is a review for the hotel. We did not eat at any of the restaurants (because Zingerman’s Roadhouse is right down the street! And Shalimar is downtown!). We were exceptionally disappointed in our stay at the hotel. I booked the room because the hotel called itself «boutique» and we were finishing up our vacation and wanted a very nice hotel for our last night as we travelled through Ann Arbor. The price we paid matched the prices of other boutique hotels we’ve stayed in but unfortunately we might as well have stayed in a nice Holiday Inn Express and saved the money. The only reason I didn’t cancel was because I was not allowed to cancel on the day of and would be charged the full room rate.
The pictures of the hotel are deceptive. Take about four levels of shine off the pictures and add a definitive 90s décor feel. Nothing terrible. All looked clean, but not high end. The lobby smelled terrible — like sewage — and no one was acknowledging it (my husband joked they should bring in a goat farm to cover the smell). Our room was tiny. Teeny tiny. Not even remotely worth what we paid. It seemed clean enough (although the carpet on my side of the bed had a very distinctive mold/​mildew smell) but honestly like a down market room at a chain. Nothing at all extraordinary or boutique or in any way left us feeling like the price we paid was worth it. I was expecting extra nice linens or a big bathroom or a nice tub or, I don’t know, beautiful wall art? But nope.
The bed was comfortable. I’ll give them that. The pillows were terrible, though.

What’s not to love about Weber’s Inn? This little family-​operated boutique hotel is almost like a second home away from home for my husband and myself. We love to stay here for an occasional weekend get-​away because we love the hotel and its amenities as well as downtown Ann Arbor.
The rooms are nicely decorated, comfortably appointed and very quiet. The concierges are always friendly and willing to go the extra mile to make sure that our stay is perfect. Once, right after checking in, we noticed that the cable wasn’t working properly on our TV, so we called down to the front desk and they promptly responded by giving us a bunch of free vouchers for the Habitat Lounge so we could go and enjoy ourselves while they fixed the connection. We didn’t even care that much about the cable signal. It’s not like we were just planning to watch TV or anything, but we just took note of it and called the concierge to tell him and he was so accommodating!
They often advertise special room rate offers and get-​away packages on their website. The Esther Williams swimming pool is amazing, as is the hot sauna. I’ve yet to stay in one of the poolside rooms (we always get a regular interior room), but I would love to check one of those out next. They have free Wi-​Fi throughout the hotel, as well as a business center. There’s also a gym to burn off the excess calories that you will no doubt consume from eating and drinking here.
Check out the Habitat Lounge for live music and great cocktails and appetizers or even a quick meal if you prefer not to get room service or eat in the restaurant. As for the food, it’s yummo.

This review is for the restaurant. Weber’s has a lot to offer: from the boutique hotel, nightlife in Habitat Lounge, to fine dining in the restaurant. Our reservation was for 8:30pm. I checked in at 7:30pm and we sat at the bar. Hostess found us and said our table was ready whenever we were, no rush. That was nice. We enjoyed a drink and appetizer with the live jazz 3-​piece.
We took the table and started checking the specials, since it’s restaurant week. Specials are a good place to start if we hadn’t already had dishes in mind.
I ordered Ribeye Oscar Med Rare, salad, and mushrooms. Hubs ordered the Horseradish encrusted NY Strip, Med Well, with scalloped potatoes and salad.
Salads were very nice. Well dressed with toasted almonds and dried cherries. Dressings on the side. I do wish tomato basil was not a default for the Soup de Jour. This has been the soup on my last three visits.
My husband’s steak was perfect. Great flavor, crust, cooked perfectly. Mine was not. It was well done and there is no fixing that to Med Rare except a redo. Staff was excellent at resolving the issue. Manager visited and comp’d my next glass of wine. Very appropriate and appreciated.
Once I had my steak, I was in heaven. Though next time, I won’t bother with the added Oscar topping. Wasn’t worth it, though it was good too. The steak stands alone.
We topped off the evening with sharing the infamous Strawberry Shortcake. Plenty to share and very good way to end the evening — though I would suggest finishing your wine and clearing your palate before diving in.
Great meal with well-​handled hiccup. I am a fan of Weber’s.

I came here for a week night dinner and had the opportunity to sample a good portion of their extensive menu. Our group got a sampling of various appetizers, which ranged from ok to so-​so. Unfortunately, we only had very tiny appetizer plates, so it made it hard to fully enjoy each item, as it felt more like a «buffet» where all the different items ended up piled on top of each other.
For the entrée I got the t-​bone steak that came with either a soup/​salad as well as a carb/​vegetable. The soups they have french onion or lobster bisque. I opted for the french onion which came with a thick topping of gruyère cheese. Their scalloped potatoes paired really nicely with my steak.
The steak was perfectly seasoned, you can choose from a few different seasonings (with differing add-​on prices) the au poivre and cognac glaze were just the right amount of flavor for me (they also have oscar style and horseradish or blue cheese options). I also ordered a side of scallops, which were perfectly seared and very tender (you get 2 medium/​large sized scallops).
They also have all their desserts made on site. I ordered a strawberry shortcake with fresh strawberries, fresh cream, and ice cream topping. It was a very generous portion, and at that point, I had to take most as leftover. Overall, I enjoyed the refreshing strawberries after a heavy meal, but wish the biscuit wasn’t as dense. Others in my group raved about the different chocolate dessert options they ordered.
The service was top notch, attentive, helpful, and cheerful. One of the owners also was around that night to check in on our experience too, which was a thoughtful touch. The ambiance inside is also nice, with dark warm wood interior, an area with stained glass-​like windows and some other nice decorative touches. I could see why some choose to come here for special occasion meals.

I honestly enjoyed dining here (It’s good a casual date/​hosting an event) — I most say the waitress/​waiters are pretty awesome. I came with a group of people (about 16 people); I tell you we put staff to work. I was pleased with the knowledge of their menu and recommendation — believe me we asked a ton of questions and we were replied with a smile/​answer. There were a ton of selections of food to choose from — please note most dinners start at $ 20 and goes up. I do wish the food was a little bit more seasoned — I ordered the shrimp stuffed crab dinner; it was just ok and i probably won’t order it again but my other friends truly enjoyed their steak dinners (I think i will try that next time if anything).

Weber’s offers solid renditions of fine-​dining classics: steaks, seafood, big salads and such. This isn’t an adventurous menu, but dinner here reminded me of just how good the basics can be.
My group started off with a selection of appetizers, mostly seafood, but also a plate of sauteed mushrooms that I thought were the star item among them. The calamari rings were also good as were the shrimp, which were firmer and meatier than the cocktail shrimp I’ve encountered at a lot of places.
I ordered the sea bass for my entrée. The menu said it was miso-​glazed, and since miso makes me-​so sick, I asked for the fish to be prepared without it, which the kitchen gladly did. The bass was tender, buttery, and mild. All I can say against it is that the scallops I ordered as an add on outshone it: perfect in texture without a hint of fishiness. There is a scallop entrée on the menu which may be my pick the next time I visit. The plain rice on the side was a bit of a letdown – slipping in a few herbs or some cream sauce wouldn’t have added any great complications or expense for the kitchen, and would have made for a near-​perfect plate.
Most of my companions ordered beef – steak or prime rib – and they seemed happy with their meals.
The best may have been saved for last. For dessert I ordered bumpy cake, and it was easily the best version of that I’ve had. The food service decaf did take a bit away from enjoyment of it, though. (Note to all restaurants aspiring to excellence: the little things… rice, coffee… matter!)
Service was exceptional. Special requests were met, recommendations were spot on, and when we needed attention we got it.
It’s not hard to see how Weber’s became, and remains, an Ann Arbor landmark.

I have been to Weber’s Inn for dinner on several occasions, most recently with a large group, and I now feel confident in my review.
The service and kitchen must be commended. The servers were attentive to all the needs of a large group, and I was wholly impressed that the kitchen was able to execute all dishes with exceptional timing, such that all arrived together, at the appropriate temperatures, and as ordered. Well done!
I was and still am underwhelmed by the quality of the food. The appetizers are very hit-​or-​miss. Overall, I recommend the cold appetizers; the hot appetizers, on the other hand, (true or not) taste like frozen food, over-​salted to compensate for bland, off-​textured food. The meat was essentially properly cooked to temperature, but the carve on the meat was on an unusual slant, such that one side was much thicker than the opposite. Overall, the food is always fine. Nothing special.
Overall, I have had one impressive service (the rest of my visits less praise-​worthy), and the food is always OK. For those prices, I personally want better than «alright.»

Without being to Weber’s previously, this was an entirely new experience for me. Staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. Even starting with the bread basket, everything from garlic toast, soft bread, and others served with salmon pâté. Fresh appetizers came next and included fried calamari, shrimp cocktail, tuna, oysters, crab cakes, and sauteed mushrooms, all to die for. All entrees came with a pre-​entrée salad and by far this might’ve been my favorite part! The spinach salad had fresh tomato, onion, mushrooms, and hard boiled egg on it but what really stole the show was the warm bacon vinaigrette that topped it off!
The menu is spectacular! So many options for our carnivore and herbivore friends alike. My filet was cooked perfectly to my liking and came simply with a side of herbed butter, asparagus on the side. The asparagus was unfortunately a little disappointing, being simply boiled; no seasoning, char, or anything that helped it stand out. But luckily the filet stole the show.
Unfortunately, as my time permitted, I had to skip out prior to dessert, but the menu looked phenomenal! I was sad I had to leave without trying the strawberry shortcake with fresh cream but I can only imagine how wonderful it was. I suppose this is a good excuse to go back?

We came here for my boyfriends birthday celebration. The lobby seemed a bit small and packed. We were checked in and on the way up to the third floor of the hotel. Honestly I was truly disappointed. The prize didn’t match up to the hotel room. The room was outdated, the bathroom was so small two people cannot be in at the same time. The bed was not comfortable and pillows where horrible. We both woke up with neck pain. To add to their review the air conditioner was making when weirdos loudest noises during the night which we had to wake up to constantly. Walls are paper thin soon as you hear everything.
We decided to check out levers and Saturday night Bar scene which had live music. The band was pretty good however I would not come back. The reason is because it was not age-​appropriate for me. That age group in the placeseem to be over 40 close to even 60. I bit too old for my taste.
No matter the differences and the hotel disappointment is still had fun and made the best of it. When I checked out the staff did not seem to be interested how my stay was nor either of them asked me.
I will not come back to this hotel in Ann Arbor. Pick something else!

I am going to split this up into two chunks. The hotel and the bar/​restaurant. Also worth noting is I have stayed here for over 3 weeks in total over a few stays for business. And I never pay for the hotel, just food.
Hotel — 3.5 stars
The hotel is a bit of a mishmash. Some rooms were newer and some have a definite feel of age, or a very bizarre room shape that is just oppressing. While some rooms are weathered they have always been clean, and the cleaning staff does a good daily job. The beds are fantastic. There is free wifi and it actually works pretty well. Staff has always been friendly and the service has been great. I had to rebook a room after a canceled flight the other day and they were right on that.
It’s average, with a personal touch. For $ 100 a night I would stay there if I was paying for it.
Bar/​Restaurant — 4.5 stars
Goddamn this place can make some good food at reasonable prices. Very old school dishes done right. They consistently churn out one of the best prime ribs I have ever had. No muss — no fuss, just a pound of rare meat on my plate. Their sliders and sandwiches are great — they make all their bread in house and it shows. Veal oscar, lobster thermidor, and crab stuffed sole? You betcha. And its amazing.
For breakfast they make above average diner style egg dishes. Shout out to the eggs Benedict — in a world where every swanky brunch spot has to mess with it, Weber’s gives it to you like it should be; eggs, Hollandaise, thick cut ham on an English muffin.
The bar is an odd duck. It is something of a cougar prowling ground right after work but I can usually grab an empty stool and shat with a friendly bartender or local about whatever and have cheap pints of local craft beer.
