Best Western Plus Antioch Hotel & Suites

Not sure of where to begin. first off we have been staying there for the past several years during summer boating season and have always looked forward to going back. However, they must now be under new ownership as their rates have jumped sky high during the week and on the weekends they’ve doubled! Thats right for a mere $ 225/​night you will have a beautiful view of route 173 and a parking lot! Are they nuts? Its Antioch not Las Vegas! Save your money folks and stay in nearby Gurnee for under $ 100. Very disappointed. Will not be back.

My wife and I went to a Christmas party in the area last weekend and stayed here. The hotel is really nice, the young man who checked us in was very friendly, and our room was clean and well appointed. The reason I am giving 2 stars is that I was unable to get any sleep. I know the first issue is not the Hotel’s problem but the man in the room above us was snoring all night. It was so loud my wife and I could hear it through the ceiling. I didn’t even know it was possible for a person to make those kinds of noises. The second reason is definitely something that the Hotel needs to address. As it generally is pretty chilly in December in Illinois we were running the heater. Every time the heater turned on there was a sort of ticking noise, 2 ticks about 3 seconds apart that would continue until the heater stopped. Not loud, but also very audible. When the freight train upstairs wasn’t running, the ticking kept us up. I did tell the front desk on checkout and got an «I’m sorry, we will look into it». I wasn’t expecting anything by mentioning it, only to save the next guest from having the same experience. But the reaction was sort of an «eh, oh well». If we go to the same party next year, we will probably look for another place to stay.

This has been an amazing experience. Kim and Emily made sure my stay was phenomenal and the room exceeded all my expectations and is beautiful. Comfy bed, room smells very clean, TV works great. This is a gem of a hotel! Thanks again!

Reasonable hotel, but the staff is pretty unfriendly and not accomodating. I checked out early and asked to leave a piece of luggage in the office for a few hours. The receptionist, on duty Saturday 27^th morning told me curtly that she would not do that. Left with a poor impression of this hotel.

This place definitely exceeded my expectations. Im thinking, a hotel in the middle of nowhere, what am I getting myself into. Low and behold it was actually pretty nice.
It is well decorated, had a fairly spacious bar, pool, weight room & the rooms were pretty nice as well.
It was located close to the quaint downtown area which was nice and convenient.
I must say I was pleasantly surprised by this place and if I ever find myself in Antioch again I would stay here.

At this point I’m decently new to Illinois and what do when in regards to nightlife and bars and events to do. I heard of blarney island so I decided to rent a hotel nearby to lay my head and relax after a night of partying and drinking. I booked the presidential suite here at holiday inn plus and was not disappointed with anything there. Hotel is about three stars, decent size rooms, flat screen tv. Pool and hot tub in the lobby and a fitness center that is adjacent to the pool area. The only reason I’m not giving hit five stars is because of discrepancies that I had with the front desk girl. The problems are nothing huge like bad
Customer service, but being in the field of customer service for around ten
Years I would definitely do things a little different if I was in her shoes. All in all a great spot to stay at if you around the area lots of bars to hop and plenty of
Places to eat.

This place should be called the «Worst Western Plus.» HORRIFIC experience. I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. The customer service here is off the charts terrible, insanely unprofessional and down-​right rude. This place is wildy over-​priced, surrounded by a low-​scale strip mall and cheap fast-​food restaurants, but because they updated the furniture from the 1970s, they charge astronomical prices and treat their patrons terribly. NOT worth the trouble and certainly not worth the money.

I stayed here while visiting my girlfriend’s family for Christmas. Originally being from the area, I had passed by the hotel many times and thought it looked like a roach motel from the road.
When I booked my room, I was told that they had recently renovated. The inside is a stark contrast from the outside. Very nice looking and the fireplace in the lobby was downright impressive. The room was very clean and nicely laid out, although the night stand could use an outlet or two to charge phones.
As far as extras go, they had a really good free breakfast buffet, even for a hotel. They had a bar, a pool and a hot tub, none of which I ever got to utilize. Unbeknownst to me, Illinois enacted some law that allows slot machines all over the place since I’ve been out of the state, so there’s a room that you can gamble in which is nice if that’s your thing.
Not a bad place to stay!

Long before the days of Trip Advisor, Orbitz and Google, there was AAA. AAA was how my family planned every family vacation; you’d tell them where you wanted to go and they’d send you a leg-​by-​leg map aka TripTik, guidebooks and other stuff to get planning. Back in the day, Best Western was my parent’s no frills motel of choice for being budget-​friendly, giving AAA discounts, and being sleaze free. Boy have times changed.
We spent two nights at the Best Western Plus in Antioch as part of a wedding party and were continually impressed by the staff and our accommodations. We got a group rate and were staying in Antioch in November, which is hardly a hot spot* but I felt like we got a lot of hotel for $ 79/​night.
Our room was pretty standard as far as chains go; recently updated, clean, with comfy beds, free wifi and all of the standard amenities. Our room also had a mini fridge and microwave, which was very convenient. The only negative about our room was the bathroom nightlight that was built into the ceiling; it was 6″ x 6″ and couldn’t be turned completely off. The hotel property had a free business center, fitness center, pool, bar with a great patio (including outdoor fireplace), small video poker lounge, washer/​dryer on each floor, shuttle and free breakfast that included more than mini-​bagels and juice. The bar had live music (although I wouldn’t call what we heard a plus) and daily food and drink specials. Walkable from the hotel are a number of fast food options, a liquor store, and a Walgreens.
If you’re going to be spending time in Antioch, I don’t think you can do better than this hotel for the money. They definitely earn the *plus* in Best Western Plus.

I talked to the shuttle driver and he said they renovated 2 years ago but they replaced the beds and added pillowtop matresses 2 weeks ago. The beds are incredible. The bathrooms have nice tile/​quartz and high showerheads (us guys over 6′ appreciate a showerhead that’s higher than our shoulders).
The breakfast was well stocked with eggs, meat, waffle maker, yogurt, juices, cereal and this is the first place I’ve seen a conveyer belt pancake maker, so that was cool.
The hotel bar is also nice.
I can’t complain about a thing.

We stayed at this hotel and knew we wouldn’t be able to check in until later than normal! The staff was very understanding and made everything happen for us. The room we were in was amazing and super clean! We’ll definitely stay again if we come back to the area!

This place is fantastic! Friendly staff, top of the line room fitted with travel soaps, comfy beds, and all for a great price. Wasn’t expecting much here in the
outskirts of downtown Chicago, but was pleasantly surprised. Will stay again if I ever find myself back in the area.

UPDATE: I find it completely amusing that the manager of this hotel can respond so quickly to a negative review on Unilocal… but the NUMEROUS times that I had asked to speak to a manager, I was told, they aren’t here, it’s their day off, I don’t have the phone number, and today it was, they are in a meeting. Also. the issue has not been resolved and will not be resolved until the money is in my bank account where it belongs… So to say that the issue has been resolved, is yet another lie.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Not only are the walls so paper thin (I had the pleasure of hearing the people next door having sex) The staff are completely disrespectful, and will result to name calling. I stayed at this AWFUL hotel Memorial Day weekend. Long story short, I was charged DOUBLE for my stay. Not only was I charged double, I was charged incorrectly. They charged me 194 $ for Saturday night, and 194 $ for Sunday night. The FIRST problem was that Sunday night was supposed to be 124 $ …so I was over charged… The SECOND problem was that I was charged the full amount on TWO credit cards … The one that I held the room with… Which I was told would NOT be charged, and the one that I wanted to be charged. When I went to the desk to complain, the woman at the desk, Kim, told me that I was a liar, and that I gave her the credit card that I DID NOT want charged to her… REALLY??? Ok. So then another employee came and figured out the problem (took about an HOUR) and I was told it was all taken care of… Ok great! But fast forward 2 days… Both cards have been charged AGAIN!!! After I called to complain… AGAIN, I was told I would receive a call back… Still waiting for that call. AGAIN, if you want to be robbed blind, not get ANY sleep, and be called names, stay here. If not, do yourself a favor, and DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

What a surprise. This was one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at! Amazing suite for the price. Everything was clean and the staff was pleasant and attentive. The pool and hot tub were wonderful! This will be our new «go to» hotel when traveling in the area, even if it is a bit out of the way, well worth it. The on site bar was a pleasant surprise. All updated rooms with great tvs and beds. Free wifi. Just dont take a hot shower with the bathroom door open! Two fire engines and local police dispatched after alarm was supposedly set off from steam! Breakfast was decent.

My family and I spent last week in Illinois for a family tragedy. I made a reservation on the website in advance and listed that we would be traveling with a pet (10 pound dog) and that we needed a late arrival because we were driving from Texas, a fifteen hour trip. On the day we were traveling, Wednesday the 24^th, I called the hotel and asked that our reservation be changed to allow us to check in a day earlier because we were due to arrive at 4:00am on Thursday morning. I had originally made our check in date for the 25^th and just wanted to ensure we had a room available. The lady I spoke with pulled my reservation up and changed the arrival date from the 25^th to the 24^th with no problem and said she would see us soon.
At 11:00pm on Wednesday night, we received a phone call from a gentleman (Larry) from the hotel. He asked if we would be checking in and we explained that we were driving from Texas and that we were half way between and that we’d arrive around 4:00am. He then asked if we were traveling with a pet. When we confirmed that we were he told us that the hotel doesn’t allow pets and that we wouldn’t be able to stay there. I asked that he contact the manager (Tim Cepek). He did so and said that the manager confirmed that there were no exceptions and that we would not be accommodated.
So, at 11:00pm somewhere between Texas and Illinois I was left to find a new place to stay.
The problem is that no one bothered to advise us that our pet would not be allowed prior to our stay. The website indicated that this was a pet friendly hotel and I even noted it on the reservation. We’ve stayed at this hotel in the past, with our pet, and it has never been a problem. The lady that I spoke with earlier in the day (at the hotel) didn’t mention it when she updated our reservation.
The man on the phone that evening, Larry, was rude and uncaring and was not sympathetic at all. He was not apologetic and was more concerned with getting us off the phone that anything else.
The way that this situation was handled was very cold, very unprofessional and left us stranded for a night with no place to stay, after a fifteen hour drive.

We stayed here with another family for a quick weekend getaway and were completely blown away. We have our boat docked nearby and usually just make it a day trip, but we wanted to make a little more of this visit — and man were we glad we did, as it stormed most of the weekend and we only got out on the boat one day. The facilities were immaculate, the accomodations comfortable and suitable to our family (of five) ‘s needs. The pool was fabulous and fun, the hotel had great service and attention to detail. The food for the breakfast bar was amazing — fresh waffles, pancakes, fruit, and more. Tons of variety and plenty of space for our group of 10 to spread out. The location of the hotel on 173 is a perfect mid-​point between activities on the chain and restaurants, stores, etc. You wouldn’t think of Antioch as a destination otherwise, but we will definitely be back to this hotel for another great mini-​vacation.

We stayed here for a wedding and it was great! Newly remodeled, the amenities were impressive. The staff was also very accommodating to all our requests. I would definitely stay again.
