Agree with David P. of Dillon, Co. Out there two years ago, same happened to us. Three of us sat at a table of 6, the owner moved us back to small table. That table for 6 was never used. I have trouble walking and like to sit at the first table available. Recently went back for a concert; it was better, but handled by bartender, not the owner. Don’t really believe they are prepared to handle the handicap.

I have never, ever been to a restaurant anywhere that doesn’t serve water to their customers until now. We used to love coming to the Hitching Post for pizza and wings after a long day at Canyon lake, we always order 5 large waters plus whatever else we are drinking right away. This time our server brought us some small bottles of water arranged in a cute little bucket. Before we opened them I clarified and said we just wanted ice water from the tap, she said they don’t serve ice water for free, only bottles for $ 2. What? Who does that in Arizona? Who does that anywhere? She could have at least informed us when we ordered that we would be charged $ 10 for water. This may seem petty to some but we would have grabbed water from our cooler if she would have told us. Pizza was good, it takes a very very long time even when there is nobody there, wings were good but they also charge for sauce on the side or if you ask for more. I’ve never been so nickel and dimed at a restaurant before. I guess we’ll only be stopping at Filly’s after our lake trips now.

It’s sad when people from out of town(even Mesa), state or country give this place a so-so rating. Having transplanted here myself 14 months ago you have to understand the ways of a tourist town and/or snowbird town. Service is slow because we jump from 35,000 to 74,000 -/+ population and it’s hard for these places to accommodate the influx. Wait staff don’t make a ton of money so who is going to drive all the way out to this location day after day in hopes to make a good living? This place is ‘packed’ from Nov-April — it’s out season! For us locals this place is great! Great scenery, $ 1 beers in a bucket of ice, horses or motorcycles can be enjoyed from the front patio. BTW there are 3 different seating areas. Front, inside or out back. IF the music is too loud, try a different spot. Food: Ok, yeah it’s not 5* We happen to be big fans of the pizza and we order it thin crust crispy. Please keep in mind we are in the county, in the heat, out in the dust this is not Phoenix proper. This place even offers live Bull riding, so yes more dirt! But great scenery! Cold beers! And good company, both from the snowbirds and the locals!!!

This place is okay. The food was pretty simple and filling, but nothing to write home about. A side salad was $ 6 and you couldn’t substitute one for your side. Our waitress was awful and surly. She asked what we wanted to drink, informed us the options weren’t in the menu, and proceeded to stare at us until we selected our drink option. We then had to ask what the options were. They don’t have ice water, they have bottles. I opted for lemonade since I didn’t want to pay for water. My boyfriend got coke and we stopped trying to get her to bring us refills and started asking at the bar(even though it was flat). My burger was listed on the menu with BBQ and came without so I had to ask for some(I was hesitant to do so since she met all requests with a scowl). We won’t be coming back for food anytime soon. From the outside there was plenty of potential for a great dining experience. They have hitching posts full of horses and fun décor. But all in all the experience was pretty disappointing. The worst part was we were the only people in the restaurant when we first ordered so there’s no excuse for the terrible service.

Such a great authentic real country western style bar/restaurant. There are literally people who ride their horses there & tie them all up outside. I went solely for the performing«Ron E Cash» who sings Johnny Cash songs. Not only was he a great live performer, but he also went around introducing himself to everyone & thank them for coming personally. The food was great. I had the«Heart Attack» burger which I loved, but I’ve also heard their chicken wings are amazing as well. The only reason they don’t get 5 stars is the service was a little slow, but only because they were so busy.

We have been here several times, there is a great view of the superstitions. the beer is great, their food is decent, they have a band that’s plays which is fun. However all and all the service sucks. most of the servers that we have delt with are not friendly. Being in that area I’m not sure if half of them are even sober. There was one waitress who brought in her two daughters both between the ages of 9 – 12 doing stuff for them behind the bar. which I am guessing the owner doesn’t really care. I get that you need to teach your children responsibilities but having them stock your beer fridge isent the best. I can’t say I’ll keep going. I am guessing the locals like it which is cool. Oh and they don’t have regular water so they charge you $ 2.50 for bottled water.

Just came back from having lunch here. NEVERAGAIN !! The beer was cold, so that was good. My husband’s burger was just a normal frozen patty not homemade. The bun was cold. My salad was good but the waitress forgot to ask what kind of dressing I wanted. We waited15 minutes for a take-out container. We were overcharged by$ 2.00 for the salad. There is no trough of water for the horses. The best thing I can say is that the view of the mountains is nice.

The Hitching Post has always been a favorite of ours ~ but not any more! Their customer service has gone down the toilet, to say nothing of their food! They chased us from a table for six that was sitting empty, saying it was being held for special guests, but it sat empty for the entire evening while many patrons waited outside, us included. After ordering meals, part of order came relatively fast, while the remainder of the order did not come for close to an hour. Everyone at table had ordered drinks, including buckets of beers, but when we asked for a glass of water they told us there would be a $ 2.50 charge for a dixie cup of water! Needless to say, Hitching Post will not get our business ~ ever again!

One does not go to the Hitching Post for the food, they go for the atmosphere and the music. My grandparents live in Mesa over the winter months and they really like this place. Of all the places we visited, my grandfather could speak of nothing but how he needed to take us to The Hitching Post. The beers are fairly inexpensive for the area and there were some special pricing over the happy hour. The décor is western themed and cool and on Thursdays and Saturdays they have bull-riding out back. The free wifi was also appreciated. The Johnny Cash impersonator was very excellent although the music was a tad louder than desired. It was difficult to carry on a conversation with anyone farther than a few inches away. We went on a Friday and it was PACKED. You can make a reservation prior to 5pm and if you have a large group you will definitely want to do so! The pizza was honestly sub-par. The waitress got our order incorrect and then tried to correct it with a plain cheese pizza(and still charged us for the meat-loaded supreme price of the one we originally ordered). She volunteered to comp the price of the wrong order but did not follow through on that offer. The servers were in general very nice but were thoroughly overwhelmed. Be prepared to have to physically chase down a server for another round of drinks as they are too busy to stop by on a regular basis. Overall, the experience was fun but is not on my Must List for the Phoenix area. I here there is a similar-themed place right around the corner with better food… :)

Went here cause the service at Filly’s sucks real bad. So six of us get there at 5pm. So far 5 stars. We order drinks, still 5 stars. Order food no issues yet. They bring out the first couples food, two chicken orders, yum looks good. Now for –1 star, 20 minutes later the second couples food comes. Hmm, 15 minutes later my pizza comes out –1 star. My wife who orders chicken got nothing. So we ask, they say will get it right out. Half hour later, everyone is finished, and dozens of chicken orders come out… no chicken for her. We finally wanted to leave so they eventually brought out her order… in a to go bag… Needless to say I wont be reviewing it again, cause you kind of gotta actually go back to do so.

Love this place. We ride our horses and tie them up to the hitching post. Great food, with a lot of entertainment. Live bullriding on Thursday and Saturday nights.

Wow… so dispapointed. I’ve come out here since th=y opened. Every time I’m more disappointed. I won’t be back. Overpriced drinks… way over priced. The food is okay at best. Just really disappointed in a local place. Try the Sky’s, Rosatis or Philly’s.

If you want to understand Apache Junction you might as well start at Hitchin’ Post. The burgers are pretty good and if you like country music, two-stepping, and watching people be thrown from live bulls, you will love this place. I’m into just the burgers part. So, while I won’t be back, I am glad I went there once to see what all the fuss was about.

This place is bad, bad, bad. Terrible pizza. It is like a frozen supermarket pizza(maybe worst). Too many professional drinkers soaking up too much booze. Many of them get belligerent and rude! My advise: DON’T GO!

Rude, uneducated staff. Not much of a drink selection other than a few domestic beers. Liquor selection was terrible. Bathroom was dirty and disgusting. Only cool thing about this place is the huge chicken photo op. Take your pic and keep driving by this place. Not worth your time or money.

Worst experience I have ever had. The old bartender with blond hair was rude from the moment we walked in. I carried a bottle of water with me because it is hot and it was just water. The bartender rudely tells me(not asks),“Can’t have that in here!“From there it was downhill. So I take it outside and I not say a word to her. Unfortunately she ends up being our server as well. When I receive my food I decided I wanted a lemonade. She goest I get it come back I ask for a salad as well(because I got the urge for one) so I nicely ask for a side salad as well. She then says.“what else do you need?!”(Like I was a nuisance for asking her to bring me what I need) Still being nice, I simply said no. I ordered the shrimp and it was all bread, super chewy, and the shrimp were so tiny. The waitress came back after I tried to eat three I quit and asked for the manager because the food was too hard to even chew. From this point on the lady starts telling me no she will not get the owner. Starts yelling at me as well as my sister. She even went as far to scream and put her finger in her face. The owner of this place did not apologize or try to correct the situation. Instead he said she has been here a long time. And also ate a piece of my food after my hands has already been in it. Then proceeded to say there is nothing wrong with the shrimp. Then gave it to other customers sitting by U.S. To try and they said there is too much bread and the shrimp were too little. The owner was rude and tells me there is nothing wrong with your food!(Eating from my same basket. Disgusting) there was no customer service displayed and any sign of humanity from him. Not even when his worker was yelling and screaming and pointing. Worse way I have ever seen anything handled. LETITBEKNOWNTHEOWNERISSCUM! HEDOESNOTCAREABOUTHISCUSTOMERS! Food was great. Heard there was live music at 5. Music started at about 5:25. Took a break at 5:50. Wish I could have had a job where I can take a break after 25 minutes! Music is free. Guess you get what you pay fir.

I have lived in the area for 10 years and have never been to The Hitching Post. A non-descript little joint off the trail, with a huge co… rooster out front. When we walked in, I thought it was pretty cool. What I found uncool was the picnic table family-style seating. The wait staff was friendly enough, but wasn’t around when you needed them. At the lunchtime hour, the poor girl we had was all over the place, seemingly the only server working. The menu had some interesting eats, from rattlesnake, frog legs and gizzards to pizza, sandwiches and burgers. I had a frosty Strongbow Gold and a Western burger. The real steak burger was tasty. It was cooked just like I ordered it, was flavored well and was a good size. I was impressed by the fries. They.were.the.jam! Crisp and well-flavored, these too were not in short supply. My husband accidentally spilled a full beer in his dollar store flimsy plastic cup, and the girl told him not to worry, that she’d take care of it. After we cleaned it up ourselves and she brought a fresh beer, we were dismayed that he was still charged for it after the conversation. Oh well, it was his fault after all, just a bummer. I think I will come here again after the snowbirds go home though. They monopolize the seating and the staff, and the experience would have been more enjoyable with regular rednecks and not pretend ones from Manitoba. One too many O2 tanks around, if you know what I mean. I have a friend who comes for the line dancing and bull riding. I will come back to check it out… with a definite side of fries!
