Apex Auto Service

So far, I am very happy! I took my car into Precision Tune because it was close to work and I could walk, and they wanted to add additional services to the ones that were needed (full fuel injection cleaning, etc) and quoted me 600.00 for a repair due to one of my cylinders misfiring. They did not go into detail about how or why these things were needed and I felt really uneasy by the way they treated me. I won’t assume it is because I am a woman, maybe they treat all customers that way. Anyhow, I read the reviews on Unilocal and decided to try Apex Auto. I am beyond impressed already. First impression, Pat asked if I needed a ride home. I already had one, but that was going above and beyond in the first few minutes. Second, he called me in under an hour with an initial diagnosis and a quote that was FAR more reasonable than the one made by Precision Tune. He discussed my specific car and what was needed. He gave me a thorough description of the what was going on (and even though I didn’t fully understand) he treated me as if I was capable of understanding. He did quote an additional item which the dealer also said I needed at 60,000 miles, but did not push this on me and said I would probably be ok until 70,000. Anyhow, I will update this if my opinion changes, but so far I am very happy to have found a place I can trust nearby!!!

I’ve been in the Triangle area for years, and I’ve never found anyone better than Apex Auto Service to work on my car. Pat, Tommy, and Kelly are genuine and great people. They’ve quoted me a few reasonable prices and have come in under that cost all three times. The work is quality, always within the window they expect, and always reasonably priced.
I believe the quote I recall is, «We try to spend your money like it’s ours.» They always seem to do it, and I appreciate that VERY much.

My auto service provider for years. Wouldn’t dream of taking my vehicles anywhere else. And I also was saved from making a terrible car purchase thanks to Tommy and his crew. Absolutely the best service in the business (and most honest) and the friendliest people in Apex as a bonus!

«How much do you charge to check over a used vehicle prior to purchase?»
«Not enough!» says Tommy, the owner, jovially over the phone. He had several time slots available same-​day for just such an appointment, so I scheduled one and brought the car I’m considering by.
When I arrived and checked in, he offered, «You want my honest opinion?» Of course. After conversations with dozens of car dealerships, a little honesty would be refreshing! So he says: «You couldn’t *give* the car to me.»
Uhm?
Thus began a long conversation about the woes of owning a German-​made car (lack of after-​market parts, and no accessibility to dealer parts at regular auto shops — except thru the dealers who often don’t inventory them, and need to order when something goes awry), all resulting in lots of expense and a long turn-​around time when things break. He said the car would be great for the short-​term, should do me beautiful for 75k miles, maybe on up to 100k. But once you hit that, normal wear & tear, plus increased wear due to being a «performance» vehicle would all add up.
I guess the info shouldn’t come as a surprise; it’s perfectly logical. But he really wanted to make his point, and talked with me at length (30 minutes) about the virtues of some other cars that might make a better fit — «women cars,» he calls them!
He did plant a seed of doubt that helped me step back and reflect on the car with fresh eyes. He also was nice enough to come into the parking lot 40 minutes after they closed and show me/​explain some things on the car that I had questions about. Moreover, I was quoted $ 40 for the appointment on the phone, but only paid $ 25 in person.
Tommy said, «I can make lots of money off of cars like these. But I want to spend your money like it’s my own.» Can’t help but appreciate that!

Best in the biz by far. I always feel like I can trust them to give me an honest and thorough answer and I know they are trying to save me money. A while back, I had a small accident where I went over a curb into a ditch in my 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I took it to the dealership at first and they told me it would cost about $ 3000 to $ 4000 to replace the scraped up oil pan and a bent bracket. That had me thinking about scrapping my jeep. I took it to Apex Auto Service for a second opinion and they welded a plate onto the inside of my oil pan and repaired the bent bracket. Total cost-​$ 75. That was about 2 years ago and I am still going strong. Amazing. I’ve occasionally checked their price and have gotten quotes from other local shops in the area and Apex Auto Service has always been the best deal. I am a customer for life.
