Gary entered into the Locksmith Profession at the end of his enlistment term in the United States Air Force in 1975. Since that time, he has owned 3 locksmith businesses, trained many of the locksmiths who are now operating in the area, has managed a locksmith company working exclusively for the Chicago Board of Education and the Chicago Park District. Since 2000, he has owned and managed Expert Lock and Security, one of the most reputable locksmith companies in Northern Illinois.

Very satisfied with the quality and speed of service. I locked my keys in my car and someone was here and had them out within 40 minutes. Only cost $ 75 cash or $ 85 credit which I thought was pretty cheap. The tech was pretty friendly too.

Gary was nothing short of amazing in my experience. I called him at about 5 pm and he was able to come change my locks by 2 pm the next day. I asked if I needed to buy a new doorknob or anything and he explained that would be unnecessary and not to spend more money than I needed to.
He got here and changed the locks in just a couple of quick minutes. He even gave me 4 copies of the key! I felt bad and didn’t want to ask for too many and he emphasized that he didn’t charge for extra keys and it was no problem. I even tried to pay him in advance and he asked that I wait until he was finished and even had me test the locks before accepting any form of payment.
Gary was 100% professional, quick and truly a stand up guy. Highly recommended!

I called Gary to install deadbolts and rekey locks on our house. He came the very next day to take a look at things and give a quote, and then we scheduled for a few days after to do the work. He was professional and friendly, his work was great, and he cleaned up after himself. I will call him again for lock needs if they come up. Highly recommended!

Gary is the man. You got deadbolt, schlage, jimmy proof, whatever. Gary don’t care he will take care of business and is part of Associated Locksmiths of Illinois. Throw him a couple extra bucks and he’ll tell you of the new lock invention he’s been working on in his spare time.

Excellent work. Had to install doors and get some old doors re-​keyed in a new house. Had to come back multiple times because I kept making changes but was more than patient to do so. Not only did Gary make the changes but pointed out other safety features I would have missed and recommended changes. Easy to schedule and early for all the appointments.

The gentleman who came to our house was very knowledgeable, and he was upfront with his pricing. We were closing on a house and I totally forgot to arrange a lock smith to change our locks. I called Expert Lock the morning of and they were able to come within an hour and a half and service us. My call for re-​keying my door locks was answered immediately by Gary himself who scheduled an appt. for the next day. He showed up on time and advised the most cost efficient way to complete my task.
And he gave me a Unilocal discount! He ran into a challenge created by a previous contractor’s mistake, but fortunately for me he knowledgeably and patiently solved the problem. I wish every contractor treated me like Expert and Gary did. They are definitely the locksmith to choose.

First impression: extremely easy to schedule. I called around 5pm on Tuesday to ask for a re-​key appointment for Friday. Gary told me that I could do it Friday, Thursday, Wednesday, or even the same day. I had already planned for Friday but appreciated the flexibility.
Second first impression: flexible AND understanding. I completely biffed the first appointment when my work schedule changed and I forgot to call and reschedule. I felt terrible, but Gary was very understanding and happy to reschedule anytime. When I called him again a few days later and named a specific date and time, he said «No problem, see you then.»
Final impression: the work itself was good and quite reasonably priced (there was also a Unilocal discount). I did not attend the appointment, but my wife said that Gary was personable and quick. My cat came out to supervise the work and he was tickled (Gary, not the cat; who the hell knows what she thought).

Gary was wonderful! I would recommend him in a heartbeat. I locked myself out of my house (again). Gary arrived 15 minutes after I called. He was so professional and friendly. I was so upset with myself for being so dumb, but Gary got out of his car with a big smile and friendly handshake, and really made me feel not embarrassed for being so stupid. His prices were incredibly reasonable. When I mentioned I had found him through Unilocal,he gave me a discount and he was even kind enough to make me an extra set of keys to leave at my parent’s house for the next time that I do this.

One of our door locks was sticking and difficult to open. The lock was replaced and keyed the same as the old lock so we did not need new keys. The other locks on the doors were checked, cleaned and lubricated. We were extremely pleased with the service. He was very professional and reasonably priced. I would definitely use them again.

We were extremely impressed with the service and professionalism. He noticed that the previous owners of our home had done an amateur job installing the locks while doing a rekey, and was kind enough to redo everything properly with the right hardware for no additional fee!
