We stayed in Cedar crest for more than 3 years and had a very good terms with the management and we were a good tenant. This year before our end of the current lease, we were in a situation to cancel our lease as we were moving out of state. We spoke to Ms. Mary Cooper and she asked us to pay the rent for next 3 months and promised us that she will repay the last 2 months rent if someone rents the apartment. There was no written document about the conversation. We arranged our friend to move in and gladly left the apartment. After a while, we just received the initial advance amount and when we called the management, they said they will not return the 2 month’s rent. We spoke to Ms. Mary Cooper and she denied about our conversation. The worst part was the management ‘s bad attitude towards us. We wrote a complaint to Boston Renters association and they guided us to contact Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office .When the cedar crest management received a letter from Attorney General office, the owner of the building called us and spoke to us as if he is not aware about the problem. He spoke as if he is doing good to us and was not ready to pay the full 2 months rent. He took sometime to agree with us for some«X’ amount. The end result of the bargain: He didn’t pay us the full amount and We had to reduce 800 $ from the our 2 month’s rent. Pros: SPY pond, nice trail, good transportation, Well maintained building but the building needs renovation .The building maintenance staffs — Julio and Jose are very helpful and friendly. Cons: Interiors of the apartment needs renovation, Parking inside the building is very expensive. 2 cents advice: If you are cancelling the lease, Pl. have a written proof of what ever the management promises.
