History
Established in 1959.
Gene Allen’s Gifts has been providing Arlington with an excellent selection of unique gifts and customer service for over 49 years. In 1959, Mr. Gene Allen came to Arlington to join his brother who had just purchased Park Row Pharmacy. In September 1965, Gene Allen and his wife Nancy opened Gene Allen’s Gifts — the first Hallmark store in Arlington. Gene Allen’s Other Place opened next in 1969 at Park Row and Bowen. In 1980, Gene Allen’s Gifts moved into a larger location with 10,750 square feet.. A south Arlington location was opened at Little Road and 1 – 20 in 1984. In 1991, Mr. Allen completed an expansive remodel making this location the largest Gold Crown Hallmark and gift store in the southwest.
In 1996, Gene Allen sold the 3 remaining stores to Connie Gauntt, who was the general manager and buyer for all 3 stores. Connie continues to carry on the Gene Allen legacy with an award winning selection of gifts and customer service.
