I went to this Hallmark a few weeks ago to buy a simple thank you card for a colleague. They had only a handful of thank you cards(and almost no blank cards), but most of these were specialty cards, like thanking a babysitter or someone for their military service. Then I returned a week before Father’s Day and could find not a single card appropriate – 90% of their selection was for either new fathers or grandfathers. What they did have was a selection of St Patrick’s Day, Valentines, and Thanksgiving cards… in June. In short, this place is abysmal and probably only stays open because it’s the only card shop in the CC area. The only thing to recommend it is the decent selection of birthday cards.

This store no longer takes your Hallmark card number and inputs it into their system, so that means you cannot earn points toward the Hallmark Crown Rewards Program and earn coupons. It seems silly that an actual Hallmark store would not participate in this program and track your purchases so customers can earn points and retain their tier status. Then again, while this store may have Hallmark in their name, they never provided the gold crown stickers for envelope closures when I purchased cards at this location and had difficulties redeeming Hallmark company issued rewards coupons when I tried to use them on previous occasions. Additionally, while the store has a decent amount of square footage, most of the card racks are empty. There are whole sections that don’t have any cards in them at all and the other sections aren’t well filled.

Stopped in here for cards yesterday and found what I needed quickly. The owner was very friendly. I was a little surprised with how much empty space some of the card racks had though, made me wonder if they were closing? But looking at the other reviews I guess this is normal. Decent Hallmark if you can get in when it is open.

They have quite a varied selection of cards here and they are generally reasonably-priced. I also like that they have other cute gifts as well, like stuffed animals, picture frames, etc. When I visited, I found a set of holiday cards that were reasonable and classy. It’s well before the holidays still, but this Hallmark shop had exactly what I was looking for.

This is my spot to buy warm and fuzzy cards and post cards for friends and family! There’s plenty of cards to choose from for any special occassion. The staff is very friendly, and to no surprise, its only natural because they’re from the Philipines! I always greet them in Tagalog with Kumasta! The only negative is the hours from 1000 — 1800 as sometimes I’d prefer to visit the Hallmark Shop after arriving from the metro.

On our way back to the hotel, my friends and I cut through the Crystal City Shops. One of them noticed D.C. postcards in the window display and we had to stop. Lulu’s Hallmark had plenty of reasonably priced D.C. nostalgia, from books about the Presidents to tee shirts to mugs and keychains. There were also a variety of postcards to choose from. My friend found an assortment of cards, and I ended up getting a glass nailfile; something that is a rare find in Cincinnati. I stocked up on a couple. If you’re staying in Crystal City and want to pick up a little something to take back home, stop by Lulu’s!
