Leasing experience from a few months back. I’ve toured a lot of properties in Arlington. This building is clean, well-maintained and centrally located. I toured the property and have to say the amenities fit the property – felt more like a community and less like an apartment. The pool is awesome. The gym was small.(That was my only negative). If you’re looking for a safe, clean property this should be on the list.

I recently moved in to Lyon Place. During my apartment search I found it quite difficult to find a leasing agent who was sincere in their sales pitch and would provide great detail about the location, amenities, and building. I found this at Lyon Place. I submitted my application the same day as my first visit. It was not a difficult decision to make. Lyon Place is located in an exceptional location and provides it’s residence with a pristine living environment. I couldn’t seen myself as happy in any other location in Arlington.

This is an outstanding place to live. I used to review places since I knew I would not have a car with me, and being a single woman, I was looking for nearby grocery stores(I cook) and metro(I need to get to work) and several stores within two blocks: Container Store, Apple Store, Orvis, Crate and Barrell, CVS Pharmacy, Whole Foods. Heck, the Trader Joe’s is on the first floor of this apartment and there is even a residence entrance where you can walk to and from TJ’s without going outside!
It is within 15 min to Reagan Airport(I travel a lot for my one year assignment) plus I use taxi’s and Über to get around. Easy, and I say that as someone who has another residence in the Los Angeles area where I must have a car. It has not been too bad an adjustment, and a relief not to hunt down parking. The metro across the street takes me straight to DC where I work within 22 min, no transfers.(Orange or Silver line). But transfers are easy enough. I’ve purchased my metro card and have been swiping and moving around like a pro. I can jump on for Pentagon City for the huge mall in that area. I have also purchased one of those rolling shopping carts which help a lot for grocery shopping. The apartments themselves are great. I live several floors up, and when the windows are open the light reflects off those birch colored wooden floors and help the apartment be bright and cheery. The apts come with plenty of built in light fixtures, major appliances(stainless stove, refrigerator, washer dryer in the apt). You will need a shower curtain, though the apt does have a shower rod. 24 concierge service makes it easy to accept packages(I use Amazon for many of my apartment furnishings). When I moved in, I reserved the moving dock, and for the boxes, I broke them down and left them in the trash area available on all floors. I appreciate that they have recycle and trash bins and may I say the halls and even the trash-way smells wonderfully clean? I was not able to bring my dogs as I travel too much(they are home with my other members of family) but I like that there are dogs here. Walls are thick and the windows are double paned so I don’t hear my neighbors and it keeps the temperature consistent inside. Occasionally I do hear folks on the street because my apt faces the common areas of many restaurants, but I don’t find it a anything more than some white noise at times, but mostly this is a very quiet apt. There is a small gym, all kinds of socials, friendly folks, a pool, BBQ area etc. I have not taken advantage of those yet(that travel thing) but appreciate they are available. The monthly rent includes water/trash etc so the only extra I pay for is electricity and cable/wifi if I wish, but I have a personal mifi which works for my internet needs. When I moved in the management welcomed me and left me a few bags of goodies like cleaning products, paper towels, TP, and snacks! Nice! I’ve walked the area-very safe, lots of other walkers, families, dogs being walked and folks heading to and from the metro. Arlington VA is a great town, and right now I am watching the turning of the leaves from the view of my apartment.

Overall a very nice place to live. Regarding the location, it’s right across the street from the Clarendon metro stop, I can go to the Trader Joe’s and back on the first floor without ever going outside, and there are a ton of other shops/restaurants/bars within a 10 minute walking distance. When it comes to amenities, the 24 hour concierge is extremely useful for assisting with package deliveries, the dry cleaning delivery service, or whatever else you need, and the 2nd floor courtyard is very well kept with trees, nice grass, a fountain, 2 gas grills, and tables with umbrellas. The indoor pool is OK, but it’s a little too short and shallow to get a good workout from swimming laps. The workout room is good enough with a few machines and weights, but nothing too extensive. The apartments themselves have hard wood floors and nice appliances. Also, I never hear noise from adjacent neighbors and your feet don’t make a hollow thump noise when walking around — so the construction of the building itself seems solid. So like I said, a good place to live, but it doesn’t come cheap.
