Reception is hilariously incompetent

My GF and I went to get massages together (though they do not offer Couple’s Massages at this location). We got there early and it still took us nearly 20 minutes to check in. We were both satisfied with the massages, but they each lasted nearly 10 minutes less than the 60 minutes we paid for! I would go somewhere else next time to really get my money’s worth.

I became a member of Massage Envy in order to start a skincare regimen for my wedding. I got facials from Tiffany and she is the absolute sweetest person. She is patient and courteous. As Shae S. said, «Tiffany has the softest, gentlest touch, and the most soothing voice to go with it… She did some extractions and it was like little tickling feathers gently dancing on my nose.» I completely agree. Initially I figured I would relax and meditate quietly, but you can’t help but chat with her, she’s great to talk to, I felt so at ease with her.
Unfortunately, after I got married in the beginning of September, I decided to cancel my membership. I have gotten very busy and the location is busy too, that made it hard to book appointments. Also the cost of $ 70 a month started to burn a hole in my wallet. But their service is fantastic and if you can afford the monthly membership payments — by all means do it! It was totally worth it for a skincare regimen before my wedding, I even showed Tiffany the pictures from my wedding — my face looked great. Thank you Tiffany!

ELLE IS AMAZING! if I was local to DC I would be back every month for sure. She is so knowledgeable, she listened to everything I asked for, and she was just all-​around a pleasure to work with. A++++++

The massages sometimes good and sometimes adequate, but the are a little too sneaky with their membership terms and conditions. For instance, when I originally signed up, I was told I had to lock myself into a 12-​month contract (or pay the individual massage rate which is twice as much). I did so, but subsequently found out that my girlfriend was able to get a 3-​month contract. I was annoyed by this, but the issue turned out to be moot since I moved out of the area shortly thereafter. However, when when I cancelled my membership, I was informed that somewhere buried in the membership fine print, it says that they will charge you for an additional month after you cancel. I called to see if that could be refunded the $ 69.99 for the month that I obviously wasn’t in a position to use, but was told to pound sand.

Massage Envy at Clarendon is amazing. They have a therapist that best suits any type of massage that I am looking for. Kyle, Shelita, and Meg are just some of my favorites for massages and facials. The front desk is very helpful and super knowledgeable as well. Definitely a great experience from beginning to end!

Will is the best! Super professional, a fantastic massage therapist, and a very thoughtful guy! If he’s booked up when you try to make an appointment, I definitely think he’s worth the wait! I recently had a facial with Meg, at his recommendation. She was incredibly knowledgeable and gave me a skincare 101 lesson in addition to a relaxing experience. Can’t wait for my next session! Also can’t forget Alicia who always takes care of me when I call!

Ben was my massage therapist and I looooved it. He massaged me all over, paid great attention to my problem spots which I have a lot, even my face. Felt fresher and younger instantly. Definitely coming back for more!!!

By far the best massages I have ever had. Great staff at this location. I would recommend this location to anyone.

I love this massage envy !!! I’ve bin a member for about 9 months and Their service is great, front desk is always patient with my scheduling and their therapist are phenomenal! They have options from deep tissue, Swedish, Sports massage. Front desk always seems constantly busy and I like to see that they care about me and my membership ! For deep tissue I would definitely recommend Sage, Bat, and Carl and for relaxation I really like Jane, Montesia and Twila :)

BEST location by far! I see Bat regularly for deep tissue and he is simply amazing!!! Carl is great when I can’t see my main man Bat. I’ve had facials at a few locations and Meg Jacobs at this location beats them all!
Alicia at the front desk is always friendly and welcoming with some flavored water. They really work with you to try to have your scheduling needs met! I’ve left behind jewelry, headbands etc… they always have it for me and call to tell me. VERY pleased with this location and its service!

I had my first massage with Tempest last Friday. I have to say from the start I found this to be a much more stressful experience than necessary. First, there was an insanely lengthy questionnaire before the massage. I’m sorry, why do you need a full medical history to give me a massage, including medications, etc? Next, Tempest was SO CHATTY I could not just lay there and relax. It wasn’t even chatter about the massage itself either, it was random anecdotes about massage school and having to let random dudes massage her. I’m sorry but that is just AWKWARD. She also asked me random questions about my life throughout relating to if I danced or worked out. Feedback could have been left to the end. The only talking should have been if she needed me to move and that is it. I basically just had no chance to relax and when I’m spending a lot of money to relax that is just very disappointing.
Overall I found the front desk as well as Tempest to also be very fake and over-​the-​top with the acting «spiritual» — not sure how else to describe it. Was very off putting from the start. Also, every single aromatherapy smelled AWFUL to me.

For a good massage you should go BYE BYE stress on 13^th st in Arlington. I’ve had many of my girlfriends friends go and they love it just like I do so its good for guys and girls.
Now Back to envy massage… Overpriced and the massages aren’t even as long as they say. If you get a «60 minute massage» then understand you will only get 45 – 50 minutes of actual massage

I had a great massage by Sage!!! Her medium pressure was perfect from the beginning, and she checked in often to make sure I was doing good. I asked for upper back and hamstring focus and she did just that. I will be back next month!

I’ve been a massage envy member for about 1 year. I’m not a huge fan of their brand, but this particular ME is pretty nice. I’d rate it a strong 3.
The front staff are friendly and prompt. When I call, they tend to be patient and helpful. I won’t say they do the best job of matching you with a good masseuse, but they can steer you in the right direction.
The facilities are clean and cozy. They have a «tranquility room» that you hang in before your massage. It’s comfortable. They play soothing music and the lights are dim. It’s pretty basic. Nothing special.
My massage therapists have been pretty good. I really like Tempest. She is relatively green, but she does an excellent job. You can tell immediately that she is kind. She seems to focus on bringing her clients positive energy. I found her very pleasant, and her massage skills were strong. I’d highly recommend her.
So for massage envy locations, this one is pretty good. It’s worth checking out.

This place is conveniently located but it stressed me out so much that it counteracted the benefits of massage.
The customer service reps don’t know what they’re doing. They’ve told me I wasn’t in the system even though I received a confirmation call from them the day before. They put me under the wrong name once and insisted I had a husband with my last name who I must have put the appointment under (not true).
At one point I was going in every week and the same girl checked me in. She never remembered me and it got embarrassing after a while that she would ask me the same questions every time about where I’m from and tell me that she’s from there too, etc. (it would be different if I wasn’t going in every week!)
I had about 10 great massages from various therapists here, which is why I continued to go back, but the one time I complained (because the massage was feather light and lacking technique and the therapist got mad when I asked her to use more pressure) the girl at the front desk told me that it must be me because everyone likes that therapist. That’s when I stopped going. It wasn’t worth it.

I was the lucky recipient of a Massage Envy gift card. A late birthday present from a very smart man. When I called to book my appointment, I didn’t even know they offered facials. It was a pleasant surprise, and since I already have a masseur that I’m faithful to, I opted for a skincare session. What a lovely way to spend an hour.
Tiffany has the softest, gentlest touch, and the most soothing voice to go with it. What a relaxing spa experience. She lightly rubbed my arms and neck while waiting for my mask to set. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. She did some extractions and it was like little tickling feathers gently dancing on my nose. It actually felt nice. I’ve experienced extractions in the past where I was sure I was having my face ripped off. I went for a facial, but it felt like a relaxing massage.
Tiffany is passionate about skincare and will provide you with lots of tips and tricks and she doesn’t try to sell Massage Envy’s recommended product line (Murad), which I appreciated.

I’ve been going to this Massage envy for about 6 months now. I’ve been very pleased with every massage!
I started going because I get very sore from crossfit and it got to the point where I needed to have a monthly massage to loosen everything up. I called the center and they said Urna had a last minute cancellation and she’s usually very hard to book so I should jump on the opportunity. At first I thought this was a ploy, but boy was I was wrong.
Urna is amazing! I’m almost hesitant to say how awesome she is because I don’t want her to be TOO busy haha. But no, she’s awesome. I usually have to book 2 months in advance with her. I started with 1 hour sessions and told her my focus was sports therapy massage and she does a lot of deep tissue massage and stretching. She literally stretches my arms and legs and works on rotation. Its great!
I did have one other appt with another therapist and while she was good and worked on some knots, she didn’t have the same strength as Urna when it came to deep tissue. What’s crazy is I’m never sore after Urna’s sessions when I usually am after other massages. I think she just gets all the lactic acid out!
As for the spa — its always very clean and calming. The ladies at the front have always been super courteous and helpful. The only problem I’ve had is trying to reach them by phone, but after 3 – 4 calls I can usually get someone. For the most part, I try to make another reservation at my appt.
I haven’t tried the facials so I can’t speak to that. Very happy with my monthly membership! My missed months have rolled over as credits.

I started going here for massages while marathon training and have seen a number of their massage therapists now. Obviously I’d prefer to go to a higher end massage salon, but the price is right, so… :)
I’ve had mixed experiences here (my main complaint is some of my massages starting late), but overall my impression has been good. I highly recommend Urna — not only does she give an amazing massage, but she’s also very timely and professional, which some of the other massage therapists at this location are not. Once I found her, I stopped seeing anyone else!
Go see Urna — you won’t regret it!

Spare yourself the hassle. I’ve been trying to cancel my membership for the last week. I’ve called this place about 7 times, and I keep getting the answering machine. They called back once, but only to tell me to call them back. No other information was given — no other instructions… And well you know the rest.
I checked the website, and I can’t find any other numbers. I mean — what am I supposed to do if I’m trying to book an appointment?
Anyway. What a hassle. I’m guessing I have to go to my bank to cancel the stupid membership. (Mind you — I’m not trying to cancel early. I’ve been a member for over a year).

I finally got ahold of Massage Envy. It took about a dozen calls, in the last week. I tried calling mornings, afternoons, weekdays, weekends. I am not exaggerating. 11 out of the 12 times, I got the answering machine. The only time I got a live person, I was immediately put on hold for about 20 minutes. What a pain in the ass. I’ve been to this location about a half dozen times, and it was never this bad. I understand that maybe they’re short staffed or something. But 11 unsuccessful calls in 1 week is absolutely inexcusable for a service-​oriented business. And there’s this thing called temps.
To be fair — once you get ahold of them they are super nice. Cancelling a membership is a pain in the ass though and involves a personal appearance at your home location, which is not all convenient for me. If you have any massage credits, you apparently have to use them within 30 days of your cancellation; w.t.f I have 4 credits, and as much as I would love to use 4 massages in 30 days, I simply don’t have the time. You can gift massages, but I’m pretty sure you can only gift 1 per month. W.t.f, again.
As for the massages themselves. well I’ve had some truly great massages here. In particularly, I had a super sublime sport massage. But I’ve also had some sucky ones. All Massage Envy locations are franchises, so quality is high variable. Clarendon is definitely one of the better ones. (College Park sucks!) Michael H is awesome.
