Stay away from this place. The office is run down, the waiting area is dusty and grimy with furniture that is falling apart. The NP was kind and knowledgeable but the receptionist is horribly rude and incompetent. They’ll take days longer than stated to call you with test results and good luck to you if you think they can actually call in your prescription to the correct pharmacy (even when you write it on your intake form, specifically). That’s on top of if they even call it in at all, despite them telling you that they have called it in. So, this place is a great place to go if you like wasting your time and money and enjoy being sick longer than you need to because the staff can’t seem to obtain proper test results or manage to call in a prescription.

I had a great experience today at Dr. Mary Ellen Gallagher’s office. She took the time to figure out a treatment plan for my current issues that I’m having. The staff is also Great!

My son and I have seen Dr. Gallagher for 10 year. She an her staff are the best!!! I have moved to Florida and am contemplating going back once a year to see her. She always makes time for a same day or next day apt and even stays late to see her patients. She is a pillar in the community. I will miss here greatly.

I am surprised to read some of the negative reviews because they focus on the office rather than Dr. Gallagher’s clinical acumen. Dr. Gallagher is incredibly bright, astute and ahead of the game at all times. She has never been wrong in her diagnosis and treatment of me or anyone in my family. We are all incredibly complex due to a multitude of autoimmune diseases. When hospitalized Dr. Gallagher calls me and visits me no matter how late at night. I respect her clinical skills, the fact that she is always up to date with the medical literature, and her skill prescribing. I am a nurse practitioner and worked at Harvard and Tufts Hospitals for 20 years. Dr. Gallagher is equal or superior to the doctors I worked with. Yes, waiting in the office can be lengthy but in Boston it was common to wait 1 – 3 hours for a scheduled visit.

Always runs late. Sticks you with a lousy intern even when you have scheduled the appointment to see her. Tries to nickel and dime you get make more money. For instance if you get blood taken at a physical, she won’t call with results but makes you come back in and pay for an appointment only to say «bloodworm looks fine.». I need to find another practice I’ve just been lazy. My appointment this past week just confirmed. Time to move on! She is over scheduled and it shows.

A friend recommended Dr. Gallagher and said she was awesome. I agree, she is really nice, pragmatic, takes time to listen, and cares about her patients.
I have had mixed luck with the front desk staff, some are nice, some are not. Sometimes I have had to wait a long time, others I haven’t, but never more than 45−60m including time in a room.
My only complaint is that they rarely get prescriptions right. I can’t read their writing and then once the drugstore translates it, I realize something is wrong (wrong drug, wrong dosage, wrong number of refills, they wrote it for a 10g tube with 3 refills and I use that in two weeks, etc), and then when I get that fixed, it’s slightly better but still not right. It’s a total pain in the a$$. I guess I just have to get over my concern about appearing a little psycho and just bring a list with specific details about what I want.
Oh, and the guy who draws blood is amazing.

I’ve waited 3 years to write this review and 3 years later I’m still bothered by the treatment I received. I too was so happy to have found an office that appeared to be warm and welcoming. The reality is that my care was by large attended by the nurses (who were nice), when I was really there to be seen by the Dr. I believe my daughter saw Dr. Gallagher once and after the initial appointment, was never attended by her again. I would have been fine with the sub-​care had something serious not happened. I got sick and went to been seen, again by the nurse. I explained my symptoms and was told that I had a virus. Well that virus was a staph infection that came with all kinds of scary symptoms. I didn’t go to ER because I was told it would work itself out. 3 weeks later the nurse contacted me to tell me what my diagnosis was and was told that I had to be put on antibiotics, as this infection can be dangerous. By then I had suffered immensely. Even though this mistake was a horrible experience with fever, chills, body aches, shakes, you name it, I would’ve been willing to forgive and forget and give them another chance. What turned me off, was that when I called to talk to someone there, they circled the wagons and refused to take any kind of responsibility or apologize. They wouldn’t even let me talk to Dr. Gallagher. Okay, so my daughter and I went somewhere else. This office does a good job maintaining the status quo, however, my concern is that if something goes wrong, you may end up completely on your own. That is why I learned my lesson and have become am extremely careful about whose hands I chose to put my health in.
PS The front desk, depending on who you get, can be a wonderful experience or a snotty impersonal one. As I have not been there in 3 years, maybe that has changed, but just because certain people have all been blessed by great care, it doesn’t mean that others have experienced the same. Keep in mind that human error does happen to the best of the best, the responsible thing is to own it and fix it.

I highly recommend Dr. Gallagher and her team. They are responsive, professional, compassionate and caring in their approach to treating their patients. My wait times have varied, but never for as long as others have indicated. The office is always flexible about walk in and emergency care, and are responsive to my needs and time constraints.

Once you wait an hour and are finally seen by Dr. Gallagher, she’s a decent doctor. She does spend adequate time with you and she’s very friendly. With that said, I’ve heard from friends and other former patients that she’s pretty quick to write a prescription. Maybe she’s just trying to rush you out? Who knows, either way, she lost my son as a patient due to her awful front desk staff. They are the rudest women I have ever experienced. Once I found a new doctor, I had to go by Dr. Gallagher’s office and fill out release forms for them to send my son’s medical records to the new doctor and they said it would be at least 2 weeks. Yeah, 3 weeks later, no records at the new doctor’s office. Not only are they rude but they’re lazy too. Score Dr. Gallagher!

I am appalled to see the remarks made here by another user. Never in my life have I received the care and compassion like I have here.
The ladies at the front office are pleasant, personable, and always go out of their way for any question you may present.
Not only does the nurse get to know you as a person, but she sits with you and digs deeper into your reason for visit to figure out what could be going on. I was complaining of a backache, and instead of sending me to physical therapy or an orthopedic, the nurse asked me to leave a urine sample, and it turns out the problem was a kidney infection all along. Dr. Gallagher spends an extended amount of time with you, talking to you like a person and not like a medical test object.
To ice the cake, I received a phone call at 7pm on a Friday from the nurse to explain my blood work.
If waiting to see the doctor bothers people, they should be happy they are alive and worry about the person who was seen first.

I arrived early for 2 appointments, and had to wait approx. 1 hr. both times. They also rushed through my last appointment and Dr. G suggested I take a very powerful antibiotic that I felt was not appropriately prescribed.
Lastly, I was told my x-​ray results indicated a herniated disc. Great… except for the fact that x-​rays don’t show herniated discs. This is primarily the fault of the radiologist, but their office should have caught this.

We’ve been with Dr Gallagher since my son (now 2) was born. I can’t imagine working with anyone else! She is fantastic, easy to work with, a great communicator, and her staff is lovely. They are all very responsive and happy to help whenever we need anything. We are so thrilled to have hit the pediatrician jack pot!

We have been using Dr. Gallagher since the birth of my 3 year old daughter, words can not explain how great Dr. Gallagher is. She actually cares about her patients and takes time to address your concerns and questions. Office staff and nurses are all superb as well!

Dr. Gallagher has amazing people skills! She listens and gives honest advice. She diagnosed and manages my thyroid condition. Aaah the thyroid… explains so much! There can be a wait, since she does spend the time needed with each patient. If you are in a rush, get an appointment first thing in the morning or just after lunch.

We’ve moved and miss our ped! My husband and I both loved Dr. Gallagher. She is knowledgeable and on top of things but laid back at the same time. Didn’t feel rushed in appointments and answered all our questions –even gave us her cell since we were first time parents :)Everyone in the practice is very friendly. We did have to wait a bit for our appts but it is worth it.

Yes. A friendly medical staff who cares about there patients and addressees their concerns. I have finally found a primary care group to go to.
