Description

Specialties

Healing wisdom for the whole person.

At The Teal Center, we specialize in clinical massage therapy, bodywork and acupuncture to relieve pain, reduce stress, improve performance, and enhance your overall health.

We believe the body-mind holds the possibility of healing itself when properly supported. Our goal is to facilitate each individual’s innate healing ability.

In order to accomplish this goal, we listen and observe carefully, respond with appropriately designed treatment, and educate our clients about self-care strategies.

History

Established in 1990.

Brenda Teal started her massage therapy practice in her home on Capitol Hill in 1987. She specialized in Neuromuscular Therapy, the St John Method, and focused on the treatment of soft tissue pain and dysfunction.

Since the very beginning, Brenda’s mission has been to provide compassionate and effective touch therapies alongside other natural healing arts, and to educate the public and health professionals about the value of these complementary approaches.

In 1990, she began to recruit other highly-skilled practitioners to join her practice and thus The Teal Center was born. Over the years, the Center has grown into a diverse, yet cohesive group of practitioners who are dedicated to providing the highest quality of bodywork and acupuncture and bringing these complementary therapies to patients in the private clinic as well as in the hospital setting.

Business Owner

Brenda Teal, founder and director of The Teal Center, is a graduate of Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. She received her massage therapy training at The Atlanta School of Massage and her Neuromuscular Therapy certification with Paul St. John in 1985.

In 1990, after four years of private practice, she founded The Teal Center with a vision of bringing together a group of similarly trained therapists who would work cooperatively, supporting and learning from each other, and offer clients the benefit of their combined knowledge and experience. Since then, The Teal Center has become known for its consistently high standard of service and a dynamic professional community for its therapists.
