Super friendly helpful and genuinely interested staff. Always a pleasure to shop here. Wonderful selection and always a warm greeting and offer to help find anything I have ever needed. Easy parking and great hours as well.

As a college student, having a new pup has been an expensive, yet rewarding experience. Unleashed has been so unbelievably supportive of Calvin (my 8 month old Boston Terrier) and I. They have great sales and great selections. One of the best parts about Unleashed is their Puppy Playtime that they host– it’s a great chance to bring your pup to socialize with other puppies, when it’s hard to do in the city (especially in the winter)! I am a fan!

There’s NO better place for dog and cat lovers. And if you have children, bring them because it’s free entertainment (until they beg you to buy everything). This place rocks! From biscuits to toys to clothing to birthday cakes and tags, this place has everything. So very fun!

This place is really great… not even because of the products it sells but b/​c of the people who staff it. The service we have gotten there over the past few weeks with our new puppy is incredible. Everyone has been so helpful, friendly, and encouraging. I would highly recommend coming here if you are a new pet owner and need some advice along with a purchase.

They saved the day… tonight.
At 5mins to closing we realized we were out of dog food.
Our dog has major stomach issues and needs to eat at scheduled times in order to prevent lick fits and other gastrointestinal problems, (crazy I know).
We called the store just at closing and they were kind enough to set aside the food so we could pick it up just a few minutes after they locked the doors. Technically they didn’t even have to answer the phone since it was so close to closing, but their customer service was terrific.
Very thankful to have this store so close.

I love this place — they have great, natural dog food, awesome selection of toys and always have clothes small enough for my 2 lb. Yorkie. We go every Saturday for puppy training classes with Ruben — we’re only on week 2 out of 6 but we’ve already learned so much! The training classes and very affordable and I really feel like I’m getting my money’s worth. Ruben and Becky are always very attentive and willing to spend the time answering all of our questions — even when that means explaining the ingredients for every brand of dog food and coming up with the best diet for my little guy :) go here — say hi to Ruben, you won’t regret it!

I have to update this because when I came into Unleashed with a food crisis with my dog this same employee was there and he was incredibly helpful. He listened to what was going on and made some recommendations that have actually worked out pretty well. I’m beginning to wonder if maybe they just need more employees to deal effectively with customer questions and the cash registers…

Horrible customer service. I had gone into the store to find a pet fountain for my cat. After browsing around and trying to figure out which one would be best for her, I was asked by an associate if I needed help finding anything. I explained my needs and I asked the difference between the few that they had in stock. The employee said she didnt know the answer and told me to read the boxes. So she proceeded to read each of the boxes silently and then determine that she still couldnt answer my question. This difficult question you might be wondering? «Are any of these run on battery power?» Then I narrowed it down to two and asked what was the difference, immediately, she responded, «One is bigger than the other.» but couldnt tell me which one was bigger. Finally, I asked how often I needed to change the filter, and yep you guessed it folks! «Um it depends on the water you use and when its dirty.» Yep that was my experience at unleashed!

Eh. I’ve been in the store a number of times for a few different things. (usually left either without my purchase because they didn’t carry the item or with my purchase & buyer’s remorse for paying so much) Some of the employees seem flighty and invasive, and possibly creepy. I’ve heard employees give bad advice to customers and completely act like they know what they are talking about as some sort of authority figure. The store tries to act like a small, friendly business but something there just seems off. And the ‘events’ they have are always very unorganized and can get in the way of some shoppers, but that’s OK! They totally know what they’re doing! They are cashiers AND dog trainers! Anyway.
I mean, it’s Petco, what do you expect? No matter how they try to dress it up, make it seems like it fits more into the community, and hike up the prices, you are still shopping at a huge chain store. Support local businesses!
Just not a fan.

Not the best experience. I had my baby with me and the shopping cart had no place to put her. I had to carry her around and try to pick up an d carry around, heavy bags of dog food with one hand. Not only did no one offer to help but they put the bag of dog food and 3 cans in one bag. Of course the bag ripped while I was walking to the car.
Not very convenient if you have human babies!

Unleashed is awesome in every sense of the word.
I originally stopped at Unleashed to find my newly adopted 1 year old Boston Terrier a better food, but found way more than I was looking for! The store has a great selection of products like treats, kibbles, toys, beds, grooming products, and even pet accessories like booties and sweaters.
Along with some new chow from Blue Buffalo that my dog Penny can’t seem to get enough of, I also bought some tiny training treats, a Nylabone, and YogiHund (froyo for dogs). Penny is very happy with her new treats/​toys, especially the banana/​peanut butter YogiHund. I’m just happy that I’ve found a great pet store that only carries holistic, organic, and/​or healthy products.
Unleashed is definitely worth checking out. The staff is helpful, there’s a great selection of products/​brands, the store is immaculately clean, and there’s even plenty of parking. Even if you don’t already have a pet or are looking for a new addition to the family, check out their adoption events!

This place has an amazing selection of stuff for dogs and cats, right in Arlington Heights. Parking = easy. Selection per square foot = fabulous (compared, for example, to the megastore in Fresh Pond). Very friendly to pets (duh) and enthusiastic, helpful to new pet owners, staff will walk you to the item you are looking for and help you choose among the options. Easy, pleasant, stress-​free pet shopping.

I need to revamp my previous review as Petco has changed the design of Unleashed to be without doggie water fountains and doggie seating.. I guess they weren’t making money. I still like the store a great deal for it’s cleanlienss and selection of items. They are always well stocked with an assortment of premium items. The Burlington store is larger than the Arlington heights store, so they are able to have a larger inventory. They carry items Petco items as well, at same or cheaper prices! They also carry other lines like Dog is Good, Waghearted and Kyjen to name a few!

Unleashed by PetCo is a bit further from my house than the PetSmart over by Fresh Pond, but I prefer Unleashed for a few reasons. First and foremost, I can avoid the nightmarish traffic and parking lot over by the Fresh Pond Mall. Aside from that, the staff at Unleashed is obviously much more qualified, enthusiastic, friendly, and knowledgeable than the bored folks working at PetSmart. Being there, you get the feeling these folks really like pets, and even have dogs or cats of their own, unlike the employees at your typical big chain pet store who seem to be there just for the paycheck. Unleashed is smaller than your average PetCo or PetSmart, but still has just about everything we need for our dog and two cats (we get their food elsewhere).

Unleashed by Petco is really helpful! I’m so glad we got a pet place in Arlington– finally! The staff there is friendly and knowledgable. I’m getting a new bunny, and they knew exactly what to help me with. They also give 10% off when you adopt (on your first purchase), which is great. The guy who helped me had pets himself and knew a lot about local adoption places and rescue places. It’s a convienient, cute little place with everything you need!

Lucky for me, Unleashed by Petco opened in Arlington Heights a few blocks from my workplace! I am a new mommy to a 10 week old kitten, so I have spent many lunch breaks in Unleashed recently.
On my first visit, I was greeted by a very friendly (but not overbearing) staff member. He asked me if I had pets, and I told him about my brand new kitty (who was due to arrive later that week.) He gave me a «tour» of the cat aisles and recommended a few products that are a «must have.» I did have some products already, but was happy to find some great toys and organic treats. This store has some great choices for shampoos, and a huge selection of water bowls and food bowls. They were running a special on the refillable cat-​litter, so I purchased the first bucket at half price. The great thing about the Unleashed cat litter, is that you can refill the bucket at Petco as well. So, it’s pretty convenient!
I have returned already, and have also checked out the new Unleashed by Whole Foods on the Winchester/​Woburn line. They had CATNIP BUBBLES! My kitten is afraid of them right now, but I’m sure someday she will find them as cool as I do!

Grand opening this weekend! Stop by to get bags full of swag (tennis balls, doggy treats, $ 5 off $ 25 coupons). The promotion staff is out struggling with giant balloons and wind, so that’s fun too.
Unleashed is supposed to be a hip version of Petco, with comfy little areas to sit with your urban poochie, dog snack bars, crazy expensive hemp collars, and wicked witty outfits for your pets. I love it — it’s shiny, new, and doesn’t even smell like piddle!
