The food is good — it’s ‘regular’ Chinese food, but it was fresh and delivered quickly. They also made the spicy food SPICY — not the bland version passed off on us white folks who can’t handle heat. Again — this is not anything special, but a solid version of your every day Chinese takeout/delivery. We’ve ordered from them a few times and have found them to be consistent, that’s why I’m rating them 4 stars.

They have great Peking Duck! I ordered Yang Chow rice and was served combination fried rice and told that it’s the same thing… hence the 4 stars.

The delivery people’ attitude suck, if I can rate it zero, I will defiantly give a zero. I will never go to this restaurant again, and I recommend other people don’t go.

First, I placed my order for delivery, and it took over an hour for my food to arrive. When I called after an hour, I was told that they had opened late, and my food is on the way. It did arrive, but that is when the disappointment really began. I ordered curry chicken, which was 80% onions, 10% chicken and 10% broth. The dish should be called curry onion. the Shanghai Egg Rolls were dry, and tasteless, so I would only recommend them if you are looking for something to use as a wood filler. The total meal was horrible, and I will never order from them again. I am trying to decide if I should seek out a stomach pump for dessert.

What a mistake. I should have just gone back to the fantastic kabob palace for lunch. Stars lost — The food was depressing. Plain sad. Bland and flavorless, the chef seems a newbie who is just figuring his way around the kitchen. We ordered eggs rolls, soup, Hunan chicken and lemon chicken combination platters from the lunch menu for a delivery. Mighty Lord! Such a simple basic order, still screwed up. The soup was just yellow runny water. That’s it. The egg roll was small and oily with overly peppered cabbage and shrimp. The hunan chicken was alright. Seemed good because we were hungry and the food was right there. The lemon chicken was just dry, like throat clenching dry and the rice didn’t help. It was like eating microwaved frozen chicken nuggets. Oh what a disappointment. The place looked a little shady with the strip club right next to it, so we decided to order the delivery and not eat in. Not a fan. Not going back and don’t recommend it.

No stars! This place is TERRIBLE! I ordered carry out from them, 2 orders of beef with green peppers with fried rice, and spring rolls. It was the worst Chinese food my fiancé and I have ever had! Not only that but the meat in the entrée spoiled after one day in the carton! Don’t waste your time or money!

We ordered delivery here. The portions are HUGE(everything we got was enough for 2 people) and if you order $ 20 worth, you get 4 free spring rolls which are excellent. Prices are very good.

Not good, went here for a work lunch. First off, it’s shared with a strip club. We walked in at high noon and the only other customer was a sketchy army dude who was smoking, or else the smoke from the strip club was seeping in. Hard to tell with this place. The waitress lied and said they didn’t have a lunch special and that we all had to order expensive dinner entrees. Luckily my boss went into hard boss-mode and was all like, «I was just here yesterday and we had the lunch special and it’s only noon, wtf!?» And wouldn’t you know? Instantly a dozen lunch menus appeared. The waitress lied AGAIN and said they didn’t have tea. But my boss AGAIN was all like, «wtf?!» Of course tea magically appeared. I guess that’s why she’s the boss. I’ll spare you the details, we all ordered different dishes but everything was just slight variations on the balls of fried chicken-with some sweet glaze-resting on a pillow of snow-white rice. So if you want sugar coated fried chicken after an afternoon at the strip club, I guess this is your place. They have a nice fish tank and some festive decorations.

I ordered crispy roast duck from this restaurant and was totally disappointed as the duck was old and not at all crispy: apparently it had been left in the fridge for a while and just got reheated in the microwave so most of it was burned and really rough. Will not come back.

Ok, I will say that I have not ordered much food from here. I have had the beef and broccoli, the crab rangoon, and the philly cheese steak egg rolls. I’m not sure if those egg rolls are still around, but they were actually superb. The best part about Young Chow’s is the bar. He definitely has his regulars, and it seems like one of those local bars that everyone in the area comes to and has a great time with each other. It looks like he kinda lets his regulars run the place, but in a good way. It makes him look like a fun, laid back owner who has definitely gained the respect of his customers. And it’s nice seeing the bartender(whom I believe is also the owner) enjoy his job and enjoy spending time with his customers/friends. Don’t get me wrong, he is definitely attentive to everyone in the bar area, and I have never had to ask for more drinks. He always notices when I’ve finished a drinks, sometimes before I’m completely done, and asks if I would like another. The bar is in a separate room from the restaurant, which makes it much more intimate and not overwhelming. The beers are cheap. $ 3 or $ 4. The cocktails, I believe, are $ 9, but you can request any alcohol you want. Absolut or Grey Goose, it doesn’t matter. Still $ 9. So you can’t reallly be mad at the price. There is a smoking area in the bar, but it has a sliding glass door to contain the smoke smell. For the most part, I can’t smell the smoke in the main bar area. It’s a great bar for those times that you want to have a fun time, but don’t want to brave a loud, crowded bar like Bar Louie.

Average Chinese food at very inexpensive prices(for the area). They deliver for free and very quickly. I probably order from them once every two weeks. They don’t mind doing substitutions either. I have to give them 4 stars because you can’t be upset you’re not getting fine dining if you’re paying fast food prices. And, if you’re wondering about what’s good — sweet and sour chicken, crab rangoon, and the egg rolls. The soup and rice is pretty bland, but that’s to be expected.

The office ordered Chinese food for a meeting… last time I’m eating from here. Can I just say yuck, gross, ew!!! I grew up working with my parents at their restaurants so I know Chinese carry-out and this is by far the WORST! I ordered the lunch special, Chicken with cashew nuts. The cashew nuts were stale and the dish/sauce was flavorless. They added some fillers of water chestnut and some other vegetable that I can’t even make out. The egg roll was filled with over peppered vegetables and something that resembled a shrimp. They open at 11:00 a.m. and I ordered at 10:55, took little over the 40 minute they quoted me. Do NOT recommend, if you HAVE to order Chinese in that area, I would suggest Charlie Chiangs… not super better but better to say the least.

My go-to Chinese joint especially for delivery in the area. Nothing special, but, nothing to complain about for the price. They pretty much have everything I’d expect from a Chinese restaurant plus more — menu items that are labeled as Young Chow’s specialty are usually pretty good. And you can’t beat free cokes and egg rolls for delivery orders.

Review for lunch delivery: Okay Chinese food, nothing special but the pork lo mien was pretty tasty, not too oily, and the pork was lean. Portion sizes are pretty decent for lunch prices but keep in mind lo mien doesn’t come with egg rolls or any sides. Delivery was fast and no problems with my order when I ordered online via Gribhub.

Sort of an experience. When you enter there is a closed off smoking area/bar with drapes on the windows. Strange. We sat in the restaurant and were the only patrons the entire time. The door kept opening and it was clear there was steady take out food getting picked up. They clearly had a focus on the take out orders because the waitstaff was horrendous. In the middle of taking our order the server excused herself to go to the front to service a pick up client. There was a problem with his credit card so she was gone for literally 10 minutes and were at the table waiting to finish our order. Strange. Food was average. It wasn’t something to write home about, but it was good enough for what it cost. If there is bad traffic you are fucked with their ‘parking lot’. You need to drive over a curb to park your car. If you go there you’ll see what I am talking about.

1 star for quick delivery and free cokes(or maybe because Unilocal made me). Ordered several lunch combos for the office. Nothing was good. The rice… not sure how to describe it but the texture was off and flavorless, no onion or egg mixed in. It was just bland beige rice. I ordered the shrimp and broccoli with spicy garlic sauce. Bland. The sauce was just brown and wet. If it is designated as spicy on the menu, atleast add a little kick… or flavor. The eggroll had a few shreds of cabbage and maybe a bit of pork, no flavor, consisted of mostly fried wrapper. Meal wasn’t worth increasing my empty calories for the day, so after a few bites, into the trash it went. I would say ‘you get what you get when you go cheap’ but that isn’t true, there are other places around Crystal City/Pentagon where you can get an excellent meal for $ 10.

I’ll start with the positive: I’m staying at the Embassy Suites in Crystal City and the delivery was relatively fast. Also, the included soy sauce was tasty. Now that that’s out of the way. .. I ordered the Gen Tao’s chicken platter, which comes with a single spring roll, fried rice, and choice of soup(I got the hot and sour). The delivery failed to include any utensils or napkins, which tends to make it difficult to eat. That forced me to go back to the lobby and request utensils from the hotel. The spring roll was inedible. Quite possibly left over from two weeks ago. The sauce was decent, but nothing special. They give you the option to order extra spicy, which I did. A six month old baby wouldn’t have thought it was spicy. About half of the chicken I ate was bone dry as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours(perhaps part of the reason delivery was fast). The soup was mediocre. Extremely bland. Finally, I had to throw in the towel when I picked up a piece of chicken with a long, thick, black hair wrapped around it. Don’t know what to recommend, but it can certainly tell you to stay away from this one!
