Quickest $ 60 bucks Ive ever spent. Phillipe was cool and got me out quickly. Directly off the 91 fwy.

The worst place for smog!!! paid for electronic filling on two vehicles DMV never received. When I went down there to explain to him, He wanted to charge me again for Re-​smog test. then he started to yell profanities and yelling in Korean. What a terrible businessman do not go there it’s not cheap either $ 60 and you still have to go to the DMV to prove your smog completion in order to get your tags. After paying for e-​filing…

After a decidely unkosher smog test experience at Purrfect Auto Service in Artesia, where they said I failed the visual inspection & needed a new exhaust manifold, transmission, O2 sensor, yadda yadda yadda — I looked for a new STAR station to have a smog test done for my truck. Mom recommended I go here, so J & B it is!
With a small parking lot shared by several businesses, J & B is a quaint, STAR test-​only station. With only 1 customer ahead of me & being a walk-​in, I watched a little bit of the World Cup (Mexico vs. Cameroon) before my vehicle would be serviced.
After about a 10 – 15 min wait from the previous customer to my truck being completed, my truck passed & my paperwork sent to the DMV. $ 60 for the test, which isn’t the cheapest, but I was highly satisfied with the results & speed of service.
Mr. Kim prefers cash or check over debit/​credit, so try to oblige him and he’ll get you going in no time.
J & B Smog, you now have a loyal customer! My previous smog experience left a sour taste in my mouth and you happened to sprinkle a little sugar on my tastebuds.

Hubby says that this is the only place he’ll go for a smog check.
Pretty decent place! It seemed quite busy when we went, but my car was taken care of pretty quickly.
We didn’t make an appointment. Hubby basically just made a call to see when their hours of business were, and he was told to
just bring the car in before they closed!
Made it into the small, crowded lot and I noticed at least 3 people sitting and waiting for their cars. I’m guessing the place is shared with a body shop or auto repair/​maintenance place. Don’t be put off by the amount of cars left there. As we were leaving, I was assured by the owner guy that my car was safe, with window down and valet key in the ignition. He noticed my apprehension and mentioned that there were plenty of staff on hand to keep track of the vehicles.
We drove about 10 minutes away on Pioneer to grab a late, sit down lunch. On our way back over I got the call that my car was done! Whole thing probably took an hour, tops.
$ 60 and a passing smog check! Not bad!
I guess this place is my new smog check place, too!

Been here a few times and will keep patronizing this business because they are quick and owner and staff are very nice! He prefers checks to debit cards. Honest, reliable local business that should be supported!

This is a STAR station. There are lots of smog check stations in the area but most are not STAR stations and for my registration renewal this year I was required to go to a STAR station. Test only station, no repairs. $ 60 for smog check. Waited about 30 – 40 minutes with no appt. Accepts cash, check, or credit card.

A lot of people probably see the attitude is rude, but i’ve been to a number korean run establishments and most of the owner/​operator acts the same. Its probably a culture thingy but who cares.
The only smog check place in the area that gives a $ 10 discount. Theres not much of a line in this place so fast, cheap and good service is ok with me.

I have been here third times already. The owner is very nice and they are very efficient. I never had to wait. You might be able to get a discount if you are a customer of the autoshop next door.

I have done my last two smog checks on my Honda Civic at J & B Smog.
Brian, the smog technician, is friendly and quick. Both my visits were less than 25 min long. Both visits I did not make appointment.
The price is reasonable. He charged $ 50 that included Smog Check and Certification Fee.
Overall good service and best price.
This is a STAR certified Smog Check station.

Pros: As long as there is no problem with your car you will get great service.
Cons: If your car does not pass smog, Byung gets very uncooperative. And when he gets uncooperative, its very difficult to understand his English as to what he is saying. My car had a check engine light on because the battery was changed an hour before the smog check. I told him prior to the smog check that I had changed battery. However when I told him he was not interested in hearing what I had to say. Only that he said that he doesn’t like doing retests on cars. Well Byung, I have been a loyal customer for awhile now, but now I will NOT be.

This place is no good, don’t go here. I had my car failed and they said next would be free, but when I went back, they gave me the run around. What a rip off.

This was my second time at this location for Smog Test (first was 2 yrs ago).
Would definitely recommend this shop. It may not be «easy on the eyes» — but the location, ease of service, friendly techs, can’t be beat. Also, they have some pretty cool magazines to peruse… esp. the ‘Recoil’ Gun Mag.

Had been to this place a couple of years ago and my truck didn’t pass on the first test. Byung showed me the trouble code that was causing the failure and I was able to diagnose the problem online. After replacing a defective sensor I passed with no problem.
Fast forward to today and while paying my DMV fees at AAA, I discovered I needed a smog certificate and the registration is due tomorrow. (I know, I know should have taken a closer look at this sooner). I called Byung and he said he could see me right away and got me in and out in 15 min. Almost made it back to AAA too…
He’s a good man and very friendly and helpful. You can’t go wrong here.
Keep in mind that his station is a «Test Only» facility so he doesn’t do any repairs.

I’ve only been here twice in 2 years (since that’s how often smog checks are required) and the owner remembers me. I’m not exactly a «regular» but it’s good to know he keeps track of his customers.

Best rate for 2000 model in the area. Tucked away, but worth it. Nice guy too. My second time here.

My mother comes here to get her car smog checked and so I have been coming here for the past 2 smog checks, especially since my vehicle was designated as test only.
Overall, compared to other test only shops, the price is fair, service time is excellent, and I have yet to have any problems/​complications.
First time i was there, I was in and out in 20 min.
Second time, there were more people so ended up waiting 40 min before I was done and out. I don’t think it’s the business’ fault but I’m guessing sometimes when it’s busy, I can see it taking some time.
That being said, it wasn’t like they were just sitting around and talking; they were busy, running back and forth.
Despite the busy times, however, owner answered all the questions I had about my vehicle and was quite friendly. On a side note, it’s one of the cleanest auto shops I have been to, which is a lil plus.

Went in early Saturday morning for a smog test. I was the only customer, so very fast & easy. I think it was $ 50 for a smog test, I have no idea if that’s a fair price or not. There’s coffee, but it was gross an watery. The candy jar looked dirty and there were only crap candies.
Still, I don’t go to a smog test candy for sweets, so 3 stars for a good job.

I went to LA this weekend to spend some quality domestic family time. So I got a smog check with my dad. This was the first time I ever got a smog check. So, cant compare this to anything else.
It was quick and easy. I gave them a call and said I was coming by. Brian, the owner, welcomed my dad and I. They drove the car up on these roller thingies and hooked up a computer the car.
Dad and I had a coupla minutes of quality time, and they were done!
I called a few places before we brought the car in. This was on a Saturday at 1:30. Most places were already closed or said they couldn’t help us because they were going to close at 3. I got to J&B at 2 and was out before 2:30.
Remember to bring your registration paperwork! I almost forgot…
