Joy Nail and Spa

Really sad to give this place this low of a rating, as this place used to be my favorite in town for a pedi or mani but over the years it changed. Yes, it still is clean and the people are fairly friendly. They have an awesome collection of colors and they just got new pedi chairs I think. My issue is with the service and a general miscommunication.
Recently I went in for a pedi and the lady asked if I wanted my toe nails cut shorter, which I obviously did. She cut probably an 8^th of an inch off, leaving them fairly long and since I don’t get pedis every week, my nails are completely long on my feet now, requiring for me to cut them again. They don’t let you soak your feet in the water for more than 5 minutes, even on days when you are the only person in there, almost like they just want to get rid of you.
My biggest issue is how they started doing gel nails, depending on who you get. The owner (or at least who I think the owner is) does your nails like he is in a rush, no matter if he is or not. I came in once last summer to find the salon fairly empty and saw his familiar face and decided to get my nails done with him. My gel manicure literally lasted 20 minutes. No hand massaging, no wax, not even cuticle cutting. I kid you not, my nails looked jacked up the next day! And I know, people say you can go in and ask for them to fix it but if they half ass it the first time, will they really want to do it the second time? I avoid this place for manicures specifically because I feel like they just want my money and nothing else. I miss the good olé days here.

New to the area on a trip and had such a great experience! The salon is gorgeous, it’s HUGE, and they were well equipped to take walk in mani/​pedis the entire time I was there. They have a GREAT gel nail color selection and I was very pleased with the service I received today. Would definitely recommend and attend again

Pedi was great! She cleaned my toes super good. I get regular pedis and it sure was hard finding a place that truly cleans your toes the right way. Will come back and become a regular here.

This bright and cheerful salon has amazing customer service. See Ann for waxing — she is phenomenal! I have followed her here from two previous salons and I really enjoy this new location. The rooms are neat and clean. Also, this is a great place for mani/​pedis! Can’t wait to try a massage, too.

The place is under management. It’s worth the visit. Def come back & would recs to friends/​fam!

Been here a couple times before, but since the new management took over, the difference really is night and day. The salon looks a lot better and customer service is awesome. I was greeted right away and my manicurist was friendly and sweet. She also did an amazing job on my nails that lasted for weeks! I’ll be coming here more often now!

Really nice establishment! Upon walking in I was greeted by someone and asked what I needed for that day. I made an appointment with my nail technician Lisa, who always knows what she is doing and is the best in the NOVA area. The pedicure seats are new and up to date. You can also watch one of the two large televisions posted on the opposite wall, while you are getting a pedicure. The management team decorated very nicely for Christmas holidays and placed a huge Christmas tree inside the center of the salon. They also have waterfalls and a fish aquarium. Joy Nail and Spa is very nice and clean. The staff is also very friendly & greet each and every one of their customers as they enter. Make sure you give this place a try!

WORST hair cut EVER. My bangs are so obviously crooked and cut way too short. She kept trying to fix them but in the process made them shorter and shorter. The rest of the cut is a disaster, instead of putting in layers, she essentially thinned out my hair, its all uneven and resembles something from a bag shag from 1970. Its a cut a student might have done in here first week. Been here for pedicures and had a good experience. But DO NOT get your hair cut here. Now I wish i could find a place to fix this mess.

Salon is clean, everyone is friendly and there usually isn’t a wait. Everyone who works there is good with nails and waxing. I come here all the time :-)

I didn’t even get to try this place out. Walked in here on a weekday afternoon after my car was finished at the Tire and Auto shop. No one was at the receptionist desk and it took about 2 minutes before I was greeted by a nail tech. He just asked what I wanted and I told him a pedi. I was told by another person doing nails to pick a color. Then a couple walked in the door while I was looking at colors and a young girl from the back came out, greeted them, and turned on their pedi foot tubs. I looked around and no one was free to take me. Everyone was working on another client and not even close to being done… and the couple who came in after me were being helped even though I was there first. Needless to say, I walked out. Ridiculous. No one said anything to me even as I headed for the door… or out of it.

I went in bright and early the second they opened, and found the place dead. The staff were all still coming in for the day, yawning and cranky. It was quite perplexing, because I assumed that their opening hours meant that everyone was actually ready for customers! I was snapped at and felt like a burden… in a salon! Also, my nails chipped on the second day.

I had my hair cut here last week. Pam was very sweet and experienced. I also got a deep conditioning treatment. The place is very nice … Looks more expensive than it is. Nice clean atmosphere and so close to my home! I will be a regular here. I even got a new customer discount.

I came in today for a manicure. Firstly they are more expensive than most nail places so I was obviously expecting a good job.
I get a manicure every other week and went with this salon as it is closer to home than my usual place.
When the lady was doing the part where they remove dead skin by your cuticles, she cut so much it made it painful.
I had a natural color put on and she didn’t properly remove the color I came in with which was dark. I asked her to fix the few nails where you could still see the old polish so when the new polish was wet, she filed off the old. Of course this messed up my nails but she just «corrected» it by adding about 4 coats of color to each nail. It took forever for my nails to dry and needless to say as soon as I got home most were ruined.
She also came back when my nails were drying and sat down in front of me counting her tips. I felt like this was a huge hint and made me feel uncomfortable.
I always tip at the nail salon but I was so mad about my nails hurting and the thick layers of polish I upped and left. They didn’t deserve a tip.
On my way out I walked past one person who worked there sleeping in a pedi chair with her mouth wide open. This wouldn’t really bother me if I wasn’t paying higher end prices for an awful job!
Seriously not impressed and will not be back!

In February we had my daughters start of her bridal shower at the spa. They were over accomidating to all our needs with 11 of us there. We all got done about the same time and had a blast while there. The staff all have great personalities. Love this place so much that the bridal party is going back tomorrow and Friday to get there nails done for the wedding.

I absolutely love this salon!
I look forward to each visit! In fact, each time I go for my mani/​pedi, I bring at least 2 or 3 of my girlfriends so that they can experience the awesome service and superior treatment.
In a very short time frame, I have 6 of my girlfriends, who are now hooked and have become repeat customers… just like me! My favorite technician is Min; however all of the technicians are remarkable. What’s even better, is the hospitality you received by all.

I’ve beeing coming here for the past 3 years and I adored the original owner and so far like the new owner. The place has been completely revamped and its just gorgeous, quite relaxing with all the warm colors and just overall very pleasing to eye.
When I moved to Centreville, I thought I might try to find a new place to go, but NOBODY gets my nails right every single time like Danny does. He is so professional and knowledgable about all the work he does and friendly at that.
The only negative side is that sometimes you have to wait even when you have an appointment but this is a nail salon, sometimes people don’t show and other times they get walk-​ins, they can’t say no to business. Danny is worth the wait, I get more compliments on how natural my nails look even though I get the gel overlay often enough that my nails are something I’m really proud to show off.

service is awful.
went there on a recommendation. first. there were teenagers all over the place being loud and obnoxious. and no one asked them to settle down because this was a place of business —- not a basement in someone’s house.
second. the icing on the cake. after i had a facial the tech was friendly walked me to the front, where i paid the receptionist. i went to my car, put my top down & looked in the rear view mirror. I WAS COVERED IN WHITE TOWEL LINT!!! they actually let me leave there… covered in white towel lint! REALLY???
no telling what others have walked out looking like…

Came in for a hair cut and color on a whim after coming back from vacation with an extra day to spare. The cut is good, the color is good but it took forever! I’m not sure what was going on, but the guy kept going back to check his email or chat session at the laptop next to him. When you have a client in the chair, wait until they are being processed to check your email!
The main draw for me was that they are open on Sundays. Prices are the same as a high end salon but I was not offered a beverage, no separate shampoo person, and I was there for over three hours for something that should have taken only two.
But, I do like the color job and the cut, so I will likely return.

I came to the Joy Salon because my favorite hairdresser, Kim moved here. I was fascinated to see the feng-​shui-​industrial look the salon is going for.
When you first walk in you can’t help but notice the large row of pedicure and manicure stations! These guys mean business! To the right they have a few Hair stations, and in the back they offer spa treatments — massage, waxing, etc.
I didn’t get my nails done here, but I am ready to try them out! They are a few dollars cheaper than my usual place. I did get my hair done and was, as usual with my hairdresser, extremely pleased. I was ecstatic to find out that the cost is 30% less than another day salon in the neighborhood! YEAH COMPETITION!
The owner is on the premises and this is her only salon so she takes a very personal interest in the happiness of every client. You can feel the personal touch!
Great service and attitude of all that work here — a happy «vibe» if you will!
