Literally, the worst steak I have ever had. I asked for the steak cooked medium, it came medium rare. I asked the server to take it back and give it a little more time. When they brought it back it had some unknown sauce and a huge glob of sour cream on it. I don’t like sour cream and didn’t want my steak drenched in a sauce.

This gives the impression it is higher class than it is. In appearance and location, 5 stars. In service 2 stars. Those overall rating is 3 because of the service issues. I think the food is fine, but it’s not 5 star. We had 3 visits from the waiter and had to ask to order appetizers(and entrees eventually). We asked to put in the Brie first because of the time we were told it took to prepare. On his next visit we asked to order the other 3 appetizers, and the Brie arrived. It should have all been taken as an order and timed together. The wine presentation was off, the pumpkin soup was orange meat flavored purée. A very stout meat stock was too heavily employed. When the eldest male in our party asked about the special Chilean menu he was told it was self explanatory. My entrée was served split across 2 plates. The scallops you pay $ 7.5 a piece for were only the size of silver dollars. The waiter attempted to sell us personal items he had created and for all this a bill over $ 250. I see what they’re trying to be and most service people we encountered were very on point, but the waiter said they’d been there for years and if that’s the kind of people they employ ongoingly it will not reach its service goals.

Today I treated my son to a thanksgiving prix fixe dinner. $ 65/person. Coffee and drinks not included. My son ordered the lamb, salad and pecan pie. He liked his meal and was disappointed that the pecan pie was actually a pecan tart. I went for the turkey and the bisque and the pumpkin pie after assurance from the staff it all was good. The turkey roulade was sadly dry and whatever was in the center tasteless. The duck confit was inedible… stringy and dry. The sweet potato baked in cubes and underdone. The whipped potatoes were not from fresh potatoes, not sure if instant or frozen. Due to the dryness of the meat I asked for extra gravy because there was so little on the initial serving. By the time I had the extra gravy the meal was cold. The pumpkin pie was good. The bisque not. This is the second time I’ve been to the Vue and the second disappointment. It seems that the restaurant is an expensive afterthought because it is at the very end of the new wing and a very very long walk from parking especially on a day like today when you arrive an hour early and find that valet parking is full as are the parking garages. It took 45 mins to find a space and walk to the restaurant. If you must eat at the Grove Park Inn try one of the other restaurants. I didn’t cheat the server and left 20% and the total was close to $ 200 for 2. I’ve had much better food and ambience for the size of that check. And by the way, being seated at a small table by the window in uncomfortable chairs did not suit the occasion. I could not get out of there fast enough.

Overall food was good but we were sold on the truffle mushrooms which had absolutely no flavor — worst truffles I have ever had. We told our waiter they had no flavor and he was unapologetic. Good food(overpriced for what it is) but definitely don’t order the truffle mushrooms.

Great views! Come for sunset or in the day. The food was good. But I expected a bit more. The Carolina Trout was a great dish as well as the Roasted Duck Breast. I would recommend these two as entrees. As an appetizer the Prawn with Grits were quite tasteful. The lobster risotto was a bit disappointing though. The risotto came out crispy on top, most probably from a kitchen line warmer light. Service was on point. Only complaint about service was the bread came out after our two appetizers. Another disappointment was they do not serve the mixed cocktails that they have at the Sunset Terrace bar, which were quite tasty. All in all still a great place to visit. Check out President Obamas set of Golf clubs he used while playing on the grounds Golf course.

Service and views were first class. They remembered that it was our 15th anniversary even though I made reservations about a month earlier. The views and atmosphere great. We split an appetizer and meal and they split it up in the kitchen.

Ribeye and filet were nothing special, outback is better. Overpriced food and service was terrible, everyone except hostess was rude. Not worth it, go to sunset terrace!

Went with a party of ten. Six of us ordered lamb, steak and venison. It was all overcooked or raw. They did not get the temperature right. They did us some desserts to make up for it. Still, not what I expect from a place like this.

I ordered the Amberjack, it was lovely fresh and delicious, the chef made time to visit our table added bonus. Kim, our service woman was also a pleasure. We will come back soon.

Had the lobster risotto and it was delicious. Baked Brie is a must for an appetizer. Wines are overpriced. Food is too but worth it. View was spectacular but be sure to go before sunset. Be prepared to drop a couple hundred easy for a meal for two. Much more if you get wine.

Lovely«vue» of course but the sunset terrace gives you a better one. The waitstaff were professional and appropriate to the ambiance. My husband enjoyed his brisket appetizer and garden salad as well as the prime ribeye, and my smoked oysters were standard with a nice cucumber mignonette and«Bloody Mary» sauce — amazing that hey we’re still raw but had that extra pop of flavor. But they definitely still need to work on the vegetarian dish — gnocchi with vegetables. They were very open for feedback on this new dish and I was grateful that they were legitimately interested in mine! A bit pricey but a wonderful experience overall!

The wife and I took our 2 daughters to Asheville for a few days and stayed at the Grove Park Inn, now owned by the Omni group. We had reservations on St Patrick’s Day at 8:30pm so I wasn’t about to try and eat or park in downtown Asheville on that day, so we ate at the Vue 1913. I will agree with some of the Unilocalers in that there is a wonderful view if you are eating when there is enough light to see the view. Its not very helpful when it is dark though. The meal was good, the scallops were awesome. Wife had them as an appetizer and I had them as an addition to my steak. My wife ordered the lamb porterhouse and just as another Unilocaler said it was undercooked as she ordered it medium and it came to the table on the lower end of mid-rare. Oldest daughter ordered the lobster pasta and it was really good, and it came to the table with a shelled lobster tail and not bits and pieces mixed into pasta. The service was pretty good, Amy did a great job taking care of my family and being a little patient with my youngest. 11 year olds are sometimes a little picky! I was happy with the way she handled our table, granted it was a little later and it was midweek and not very crowded, but she still did a good job. The wine was a nice Burgundian Pinot Noir that paired well with the lamb and the NY Strip. Dessert was shared at the table, sticky toffee pudding and crème brulee and the latter was by far the better dessert option. I will say that the meal was a bit pricey and one can find just as good of a meal in Asheville for a much lower price. I will return though.

Had a very tasty, romantic dinner at Vue. The room is quiet and very nice. The staff was attentive without being overly engaged, and all the staff(and the chef) were great about working around my wife’s milk allergy. Neither of us thought about touching the salt or pepper, everything was well seasoned.

Very average atmosphere and extremely overpriced. Food was delicious, but the menu is too limited. Service was performed well, but the waitress was a robot. This place has no personality. Will not be returning.

this is a lovely place to have a quiet and romantic dinner. when you make your reservation ask for a table with a view. the views are incredible. if you are not staring at the person in front of you then the mountains are a great second choice. the menu is small but might. there are solid choices for everyone. this is not a place to look for large servings. this is foodie eating. the plates are small but might on taste and interest.

The atmosphere reflects that of the Grove Park inn(rich). We dinned here during our stay at GPI and we were very impressed. At first skeptical at the seclusion and lack of people during a 7:00 p. m dinner date, we were quickly rendered once we sat down. At first glance the menu looked limited, but after studying it we both found something we could enjoy. Service was… Classy. Monotone, yet VERY polite staff constantly refreshing our drinks without question, set the tone for a fine dining experience. They were also excellent at describing the dishes and the many flavors they expressed. We ended up ordering a roasted duck dish, and a filet mignon. Both dishes were absolutely phenomenal. The filet was so tender, and had great flavor. THISISTHEBESTSTEAK I’VEEVERHAD. If it wasn’t 44 dollars I would’ve ordered another one right after. This place is quite pricy and the dishes come alla carte, but rightfully so. VUE1913 is located in one of the historically fascinating hotels in the world. I will absolutely recommend this restaurant anyone. You’ll spend a pretty penny, but you will not regret it.

From the time we sat down to the time we left service was lacking and slow. We were there for 2 hours but not by choice. Food was edible but for what they charge for it you’d expect something special. Do not go here to celebrate anything. They bring you plate that was pre-decorated who knows how many days before with chocolate and candy. No idea what this is about but they don’t care about making their customers feel special. Our server was not professional and got smart with us towards the end of the night. Basically this ruined my birthday. Never had such a bad experience.

A fine dining experience with a view. This place is located in the Park Grove Resort — so if you are staying there and looking for a less crowded place than the Terrace — you will probably be able to to get a reservation here, but that is because it’s the most expensive place on the resort to eat. The view is actually much better from the sunset terrace, but they have finer dining options here and good lobster and steak. They offer the same wine selection throughout the resort — so no difference there. We actually couldnt get in at terrace our first night, so came here and we had an excellent meal. Now the bill was like 400.00 for the 3 of us, but we did have a bottle of fine wine as well. So make of that what you will. I did the tasting menu and it was excellent. My only real complaint is that for an upscale dining experience, they really need to improve the ambience, the seating, the carpets and art and the over feel of the place. I just didn’t get the luxury vibe from the surroundings. Over all, a very good dining experience… but not quite 5 stars.

Five stars for the view of the blue ridge mountains, four stars for service, 3 stars for food, 2 stars for value of food vs price. Food was good but some items seemed over seasoned and very rich in the sauce department. A bit too old school for us. Grove park inn is a beautiful place with history lessons around every corner and some great artwork in the common areas. Omni seems to have upgraded much of the interior. We were staying nearby so decided it would be nice to eat & watch the Inn’s fireworks. We hadn’t been to the Grove Park in many years. So many awesome choices for food in Asheville so we felt this was a bit of a letdown vs our other meals this trip. That said, if you are staying nearby it isn’t a bad choice with a scenic view of the mountains. I do prefer the outdoor Grove Park terrace restaurant for killer sunset view and ambiance.(We would have done that but couldn’t get a reservation on the holiday weekend)

The food is remarkable. I’m not sure why they hide this gem on the far end of the hotel. It was like exercise walking to get to the restaurant from the lobby and there is no private entrance. Food, décor and service are all top of the mark. Wonderful Easter lunch!!! Seems the hotel is going through some transitions and they are losing the original ambience. Nevertheless, we had a great meal.
