Astoria Colonic

I went to their brunch on 57^th Street in Midtown and had a truly bad expierance. I called 8 days before to schedule an appoitment for colonic on Friday, January 17^th at 6pm. The lady I scheduled appoitment with was very friendly. But when I arrived to the place at 5:50 on a scheduled day different lady opened a door (Asian with light acsent). I said «hello, how are you» and she said «what do you need?». I said that I had an appoitment. She replied «not right now» and closed a door in front of me!!! I couldn’t beleive it was really happening and knocked on the door again. She said «i’m busy right now, you have to make an appoitment, you can’t just show up». She was extremely rude and kept rolling eyes on me. Obviosly someone in that place messed up and didn’t put my appoitment down but that wasn’t the reason why I was upset. Things happen. After I showed the lady my groupon she said «so what do you want from me, i just got back from vacation». I said «i want an appology and i want you to tell me how you can help me now and when would be the next appoitment». She said «fine, I’ll make you an appoitment, you can come on Monday». Then she asked me to come in (all that time i was talking to her from the stairs), by the time we got to reservation calendar I changed my mind and decided never ever to come here again. The place wasn’t very clean and after that kind of greeting I was simply scared of the quality of services.
Can’t say anything about the colonic because I’m never getting it at that place. Now have to figure out how to get my money back from Groupon.

I got the Living Social deal as well and decided to give it a shot.
The staff was kind and very knowledgable. I was comfortable and relaxed and felt amazing afterwards. I have been going there for a while now and always tip nicely too, but the last time I went, they must of forget about my 5 PM appointment because when I got there the whole place was locked up and no one was picking up the phone. They are supposedly open until 9 PM! I patiently waited downstairs, thinking «They must be with a patient or something and surely, someone will buzz me right in». Emmm… that never happened, nor any «Hey you, sorry about that» phone call I expected the next day.
Needless to say, my time is very valuable to me and I was quite disappointed.
I guess, you get what you pay for. I’m currently in search of new colonic place who honor my appointment time.

Wouldn’t recommend this place in Astoria for one reason. I had a groupon voucher which expired as i had to leave the country because my father died. I called when i got back to Nyc and explained my situation. I was told that it would cost me another $ 29 to redeem my coupon. This has left a very bad taste in my mouth. Its nothing to do with the money as last time I visited I tipped the 2 girls $ 10 each. Its more the fact that they tried to extort more money from me given the circumstances. Think i’ll find somewhere else in future.

Not sure if its because I had a living social voucher, but the staff was incredibly inattentive and unhelpful. I explained to them that it was my first time when I first arrived, and tried to lighten the mood because I was nervous but after they told me to lay down and turned on the water, she just left. A different woman came in to check up on me, which is startling since its a little uncomfortable for someone you don’t expect to walk in during the process. She just asked if everything was working and I wasn’t quite sure, which I said, and then she said ring the bell if I have any problems and left! Um??? What? Then when I did «have a problem» I had to ring the bell for a while before anyone came.
When I was on my way out, I saw a brochure that explained that the «therapist» would tell you how you were doing, give you massages, explain aftercare, etc. none of that happened. Even when I asked what to eat, the first lady (who I hadn’t seen since I first arrived) said yogurt when everything else said no dairy. Stay away if this is your first time! If not, the clean facilities and privacy* (euphemism for neglect) could be nice.

Went to Midtown Wellness on E. 57^th in Manhattan which I bellieve is a branch of this place. I prefer enemas to colonics, don’t really like all that machinery and seems much more natural. This place will do enemas unlike most colonic places. Had a terrific cleanout here and I’ll definitely be back.

The staff is wonderfully friendly.
The office is simple but nice.
And I’m pretty sure that’s all you need to know from me…

I got a Living Social deal for here, and since I was looking to get cleaned out anyway, I thought it was a good time to do so.
First thing is it’s great that’s it’s a couple of blocks from my place. The office is nice and the staff was supper friendly and helpful
Since this was by no means my first one (colonic) I knew what to expect, but still it’s nice to go to a place where you feel comfortable and relaxed, and I can definitely say I did here.
Not much else to say other than I feel a lot lighter.
