I and my friend ordered Chicken wings and Korean-pancake. They are quite good, whoever can enjoy that. Also, you can try to eat Kimchi(If you like it). There is a bar where you can drink, but, drinking soju here will make you pay more(it is a bit expensive), just order other alcohol.

So I specifically hold off on writing reviews unless I’ve been to a place twice or more unless I’ve roughly been theory the establishment. I’ve been here about 5 months. So here’s my consistencies: 1) food always delayed; 2) food always delicious(neo Asian tastes so beware); 3) they try but the workers might not have a clue as to what the management expects. So expect inconsistent specials and non regular service

Call me stupid but I found out they were on Seamless and I’m still a sucker for KFC(Korean Fried Chicken) so we decided to order a bucket of wings before I heading out for the night. Order the food was seamless(no pun intended) although I mistakenly tipped them nearly $ 10 for a $ 30 order. It was estimated to get to my house in an hour which was a lot but on a Saturday night, I decided not to complain. 40 minutes in, I get a random call on my phone. I answer and find out a neighbor who lives a few buildings down has my food. According to him, the delivery guy mistook one number on the address and left the food with the neighbor. WTF? Upset, I call the restaurant and explain my situation.CLICK. The phone’s cut off. Figuring it was a mistake or a dropped call, I call again, the guy answers and as we’re talking… At this time, he knew which order it was and I can hear him talking to a co-worker in Korean(BTW: I’m Korean so I understood everything he said). He offers me a re-delivery but like I said above, I had to go somewhere. And no, I’m not waiting another 40 minutes for my food or risk eating the cold wings from my original order either. As we’re talking… CLICK. WTF is going on here? So I call again and he doesn’t apologize for the phone issue and in the middle of him talking… CLICK! By now I’m thinking this guy is effin’ with me. I’m upset. I call my neighbor back and walk out into the freezing night to pick up my food from up the block. The neighbor was so nice and I felt bad that he was even bothered. I return to my place and the wings are warm so we start eating. As I’m eating, I call Seamless to complain. They tell me they’d call the restaurant and try to get credit out of them. Ok. I get a text 10 minutes later. «The restaurant is not answering their phone. How about we give you a $ 5 voucher?» FIVEDOLLARS!!! That’s it!!! You call this customer service? You call this caring about your customers? Hell na. I call Seamless back and complain to a different agent, explain to her I’m not mad at her but the restaurant and the situation. She tells me she can hook me up with another $ 10 voucher and after discovering I mistakenly tipped nearly $ 10, she tells me she can void that as well. So a $ 42 bill got reduced to ~$ 33 + $ 15 in vouchers. Ok, fine. I’m not happy but I can live with that. And my night ends there but my relationship with Bonchon Astoria will be eternal. Sidenote: When I first discovered Bonchon Astoria opened months ago, I tried calling them to put an order in for Football Sunday and they never answered their phones then either. I am Korean myself but Koreans really need to step up their business/service game if they wanna survive in Astoria. You may be able to get away with stuff in Flushing/Bayside but not here. And I know Caffe Bene on Ditmars already closed down probably for that reason(plus their drinks suck).

Miserable experience ordering from here. First I call them and they let me know they only deliver within 5 blocks from the restaurant. Well, I got lucky and my apartment was within 5 blocks. So I make my order of the chicken wings that everyone can’t stop telling me about, and 30 minutes go by. Alright, that’s fine. They told me 20 – 30 min. It happens. Then 45 minutes go by. Still no food. I give them a call but no one picks up. Still giving them the benefit of the doubt I believe my food will be arriving soon. Nope, I was wrong. Over an hour later I call back, and this time they finally pick up the phone. I asked where my order is, and I’m told they actually forgot my order. The extremely rude woman on the phone then tells me that I can put my order in again, but it would take another 40 minutes. At this point I tell her that I can do without it, and will get food from somewhere else. Somehow after all this she had the nerve to give me an attitude about cancelling my order. Never getting good from here again. Lack of common decency is reason enough to never eat somewhere again.

As a vegetarian, any restaurant with«chicken» in its name is not my first choice. However, my brother and dad were in town, and it was their turn to pick the restaurant. My brother likes the Bonchon Chicken chain, so we went in for a late lunch. The restaurant reminds me of Korea. Oddly enough, they have stereotypical American wall décor and multiple American football games shown on several televisions. The menu is all in English, so non-Koreans can rest easy. All the servers we encountered spoke both Korean and English. We were the only Koreans in the joint, which is wary for a Korean restaurant. You know a Korean place is good when there are plenty of Koreans in it! The food was overpriced and all the delightful side dishes that are typically free at most Korean restaurants were $ 3-$ 5. They had a handful of vegetarian/vegan options, and I ordered the tofu dolsot bibimbap. This is a fried rice dish that comes with rice, Korean vegetables, and red pepper paste on the side. It all comes in a stone bowl that is burning hot and your food sizzles as it arrives. I love that sound! I really enjoyed my dish. My brother and my dad seemed to enjoy their dishes as well, but I believe their chicken strips are much smaller in size than the Bonchon locations in Virginia, which bothered my dad.

Found this place for late night snacks and drinks. We ordered the soy sauce wings and the lychee soju. I wanted to initially order the strawberry soju, but they were out, which was unfortunate. The wings were amazing. They were fresh and crispy and not too salty or sweet. It was definitely closely tasting to the wings I have had in Korea. The lychee soju was also perfect. It is apparently their most popular soju, and it is about $ 18, but it comes in a pitcher and is definitely big enough for two to share. The soju was not too strong and not overly sweet. It was definitely fitting to my tastes. We ordered another drink after the soju, the whisky, but they accidentally brought us the lychee martinis instead. The owner was very nice about it and gave us the correct drink. I definitely enjoyed my time here, and the atmosphere was very casual and laid back. Great way to end my night.

A must visit in Astoria!!! We came into this place with no expectations and boy did it blow us away! Starting with the friendly/attentive staff to the tasty drinks and delicious food this restaurant is top notch! We came with a group of 10 and started off with a tower of draft beer(sam adams winter lager) which also came with a plate of fries with fried egg(free on game nights!), cheese and bacon bits! A couple of us also ordered the lychee froju(highly recommended!) for appetizer we ordered the Salmon avocado ball, seasoned fries, and pot stickers, all of them were delicious! For entrees we ordered 3 orders of the XL wings combo half spicy half soy garlic, bulgogi and chicken katsu. Man that chicken was the BombDotCom! Exactly the type of Korean fried chicken we were craving for. The bulgogi was really good and the 2 of us that ordered the chicken katsu finished it within minutes. Overall this place is well deserving of with 5 star rating that I’m giving! The waitress/manager(Jenny) that took care of us was awesome. The food & drinks were delicious! This will definitely be my go-to Korean Fried Chicken spot from here on out!

This place is so clucking good! Paid a visit during a recent trip to see some of my friends that live in Queens. They frequently dine here, and couldn’t let me leave without experiencing it. First of all, it’s so cute and the employees are SO nice. The music selection during our early dinner was a bit odd for the environment, but hey — not something that would make or break the experience. Second, the food was amazing(and that’s the main thing that counts, right?!). We ordered two different wing dishes: super hot(spicy) and mild. The hot wings were really, really, REALLY hot and I loved every bite. The other were simply delicious as well. Oh, did I mention we ordered parmesan fries? Yeah — that happened, and they were equally as enjoyable as the wings. Not much more I can say about my experience here. It was amazing, and I’ll definitely want to return when I visit my friends again in the future.

The restaurant was clean and service was great. I was craving Korean chicken and when I bit the first wing we ordered, I was satisfied! :-). It was yummy!

I’ve been spending a lot of time in Astoria lately, and Bonchon is one of the most pleasant surprises I’ve come across in recent weeks. A South Korean fast food chain imported to the United States, this is one of the best chicken-oriented restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of patronizing. Friendly servers, wide spaces for dining, reasonable prices, and absolutely delicious meals. My date and I ordered the seasoned fries and the 10 piece garlic chicken strips-as well as a South Korean lager for me-and both items were mouth-watering. The one downside is the loud, multinational, bilingual pop music blaring from the speakers, which is something that doesn’t really add much to the dining experience. Otherwise, this is the perfect place to spend a Saturday night.

We had such high hopes when we visited Bonchon in Astoria. I ordered the chicken stripes hot. They were Sahara dry and I wound up leaving most of the order behind. Dryness aside they were also tough leaving me to believe that the chicken was precooked and then re-heated prior to serving. I’m not entirely sure this was the case but it most certainly felt as though it was, The Korean beer was pretty good and anyone who knows me well, knows that I don’t typacally drink beer; I just look as though I do…

Delicious wings and doboki. We bought delivery and even after 30mins, wings were hot and fresh. Meats were not dry at all. Wings are full of flavor and skin super crispy. The doboki was delicious and spicy. Eventhough they are on the pricier side, it’s totally worth it.

I’ve had Bonchon chicken wings a few times, but this was my first visit to its newish location in my neighborhood, Astoria. I brought my friend, who had never been before and(only after the fact) told me that she had been a little hesitant about eating there because she doesn’t always love fried food. «But this was good fried chicken,» she said. Yes — it is. We decided to order the wings with half soy garlic and half hot sauce, but ended up getting just two hot wings because our server warned us that the hot wings were extremely hot and that he could barely even eat them. Perhaps I should’ve been offended — what does he know about my tolerance for spicy food? — but no, he was absolutely right. They were too hot for me and way too hot for my friend. We finished one of the two wings. The soy garlic, on the other hand, is heaven. The crispiness of the wings is a crunchy perfection, and the flavor is amazing. I do wish that perhaps they had a slightly less spicy version of their hot wings. We also tried the Salmon Avocado ball(avocado, crabmeat, cucumber, tobiko and tempura crumbs with mayo, wrapped in seared fresh salmon, topped with spicy mayo and unagi sauce) and it was SO good. There’s a decent selection of drinks here, too. I ended up with a lychee martini, which tasted very fresh. We were here on a Friday night and thus were just here to dine, but it looks like they have TVs and drink specials so it could make for a good sports-watching spot.

3.5 stars. Truth be told… I’ve never tried BonChon Chicken until now! And the Korean fried chicken from their Astoria location lives up to the hype! The wings and drumsticks were big and super crispy. I preferred the spicy sauce to the soy/garlic sauce… but that’s because I like it spicy. Unfortunately, their other menu items paled in comparison. We tried the: 1) seafood pancake — WAY too greasy 2) tteokbokki — very salty and the tteok was mushy. 3) mac and cheese bites — I could not allow myself to eat more than 1. 4) onion rings and fried shrimp — Okay? I guess you can argue that it’s «good drinking food» …but I need a better reason than that. I would come back for the ‘KFC’ and skip the rest!

Part of Astoria is starting to feel like the East Village. For me, this is a very good thing. Case in point: BONCHON, which provides an experience that I used to have to go to Boka on St Marks for. Suddenly the real thing is in my neighborhood! Rad. I like the bar and bar tables in front, tamer dinner seating in the rear. Korean pop, nice beer on tap & below-bar lighting make for a fun time. BONCHON chicken brings grown adults to tears with the goodness. I hear spicy sauce is the way to go. Never fear, veggie comrades: meet the Bibimbap, which Bonchon makes an ok version of. I miss the raw egg yolk on top, and the gob sol doesn’t have to be THAT hot. First time I ordered it, the stone melted part of the plastic dish beneath it. It smelled terrible. Otherwise I’ve really enjoyed it here. Just a couple more tweaks and it’ll be perfect!

I’m surprised this place isn’t packed all the time! My boyfriend and I came in to watch Game 6 of the NBA finals, so we decided to sit at the bar right in front of the TV. Food-wise? — 10 piece(small) order of soy garlic wings: they had their characteristic crispness that I’ve come to expect of bonchon wings. They were decently sized, definitely bigger than the tiny wings at Kyochon in the city! The meat was juicy and they came out hot. — seasoned fries: I can be a little picky with my fries, and I loved these! They were also crispy on the outside but still soft and potato-y on the inside. The seasoning was good enough that I didn’t need the ketchup and spicy mayo!(But definitely ask for spicy mayo on the side — so good) — steamed shrimp shumai: definitely a fan! We were warned that they’re small, but these hit the spot. We got 8 perfectly sized pieces shumai drizzled in honey mustard. Honey mustard might sound a little odd at first, but it actually have it a great flavor that I’ve never had. — lychee soju: $ 5! We orders one just to try, and ended up getting another one. If you’ve ever had those little lychee jelly snacks as a kid, then this is what it tastes like. I love a drink that tastes like candy. Sitting at the bar, I don’t know that I can comment too much on the service. From what I can tell though, they’re great! My boyfriend has been here 3 times so far, so he’s become friendly with the owner and he even introduced himself to us. I could tell he was really hustling and working hard to keep things going smoothly. The other two servers/bartenders? there were friendly and easy to talk to. Our food came out relatively fast(I know bonchon wings usually take a while) and they refilled our waters. They could benefit from more servers there, but they’re making it work! Another plus — they are clean! Their bathrooms are clean(and offer a huge mirror). It’s a very casual ambiance, and the seats at the bar are comfy and let you lean back. Definitely coming back!

Long story, short — bonchon wings & fries were crispy and delicious, service was very good, place is spacious and the décor is simple! Came here after work on a recommendation of a friend. Don’t know any other bon chon spots around the area so this is definitely a good addition. Very spacious! They also have a decent size bar w/TVs. We sat in the dining area by the door, though because my friend is a minor, but luckily they had 1 more TV that wasn’t at the bar. Food was amazing! We ordered a combination of soy garlic wings and hot! For anyone who’s had gold bonchon wings before know that they’re super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside and these definitely met the standards. It came w/pickled radish and I ordered the kimchi coleslaw which was crunchy and not too spicy. Also ordered a side of fries seasoned with Parmesan and parsley! I’ve always loved the way bonchon places make their fries, kind of like their wings, super crispy on the outside, soft on the inside! Came w/a side of ketchup but we needed to ask for some spicy mayo too! We also had the tteokbokki which I thoroughly enjoyed, it was a mix of rice cakes, some sort of fish cake, noodles, shredded mozzarella, and sweet red chili sauce! It wasn’t that spicy at first but it creeps up on you later so beware! Service was great, and I think our waitress never put away her smile, she must’ve had a face cramp after serving us. Our cups always had water in them and she always made sure to check on us, which I appreciated because we were the furthest table from the kitchen.

I tried other Korean chicken places but Bonchon was supposedly the best. Well, I vaguely remember eating them once after a night of drinking but since my experience there was um. ambiguous I didn’t rate it. My experience here was definitely more lucid so I can definitely comment. I was in the mood for wings but I changed my mind and got the strips instead, split between spicy and soy garlic. We also decided to split an order of the tteokbokki which our server kept mispronouncing. We repeated ourselves until we basically gave up, assuming that was just how she pronounced it. Well, it turned out that wasn’t how she pronounced it and takoyaki and instead of getting spicy rice cakes we got dough balls with fish flakes over it. It wasn’t until we got the wrong dish that she kept hearing what she wanted and got the wrong thing. Fortunately, there was another staff member that understood and with our strips came the right starter. The garlic sauce is good and the hot sauce is spicy enough that it might fool you. I can see how it would accumulate and make people’s mouths burn. I thought it still lacked a little something, maybe too much sweetness to heat ratio. I’m glad it’s nearby so I don’t have to go to Ktown but it’s a little different here for sure.

BonChon is just pure goodness. The soy garlic wings are a taste of heaven. I would know. Now its in Queens! Exciting stuff! Jack the new manager is super friendly and so are the bartenders. The SA Summer Ale is not tapped yet, but the full bar and drafts are good. Try the double IPA. KFC win for Queens! You will be seeing me here.
