Goodness Gracious Thrift Shoppe

Crazy disorganized and grimy looking but shockingly not at all either. Everything in there is excellent quality and brand names. It’s astounding really. Very deceiving. Love this little thrift!
Note: it did used to be very packed out though and overly sloppy with donations that hadn’t been sifted through but last year the owner closed down for a short period and really underwent a big clean out, so it’s much less crowded and messy than it used to be. Also, she can be very curt and rude appearing but she’s just a New Yorker; if you’re decent to her she’s decent back. I’m a regular and she’s super friendly and chatty and always finds a little toy to give my kids to take home for free. :)

As a recent transplant to the neighborhood and a lifelong thrift shopper, I enjoy shopping in this overpacked mish mash of a store. This is an old time thrift shop, not a consignment store or well curated boutique shop. You gotta have patience and love the thrill of finding a special piece. On my first visit, I got cute work pants, a totally funky handmade sweater, and turquoise Steve Madden sandals. The cashier gives you a total price when you bring your items up. My total was $ 20! The biggest downside is that they don’t have a fitting room, but I was told I could exchange an item if it did not fit. Overall, a fun shop!

Every once in a while I would find something worth buying here but the owner is so unpleasant and downright mean that I don’t find it worth it to go in anymore. She loves making customers wait for her to finish long conversations before acknowledging them and once went into a full-​out yelling fit! No marked prices and no fitting rooms. Glad a Buffalo Exchange recently opened on Ditmars!

I am a thrift store junkie so of course I had to check this place out after being disappointed by the Steinway goodwill. They have a lot of stuff that you have to sort through. Most of it seems to be plus sized polyester disco blouses. I found 2 shirts and a dress i liked so I went up to pay and the lady charged $ 100! I bet it didn’t even cost that much full price. Of course prices are unmarked so if she thinks you are a sucker she will charge you a ton. Great customer service right there! Or if you interrupt her loud Spanish telephone conversation. She doesn’t even let you haggle. Ok, I guess you really don’t want to move your inventory. Have fun in your firetrap, you crazy woman.
Don’t go here. Ever.

Regardless of what everyone else has said, I actually think this thrift store is quite organized & spacious compared to most. I’m not sure what kind of thrift stores yall are going to… buffalo exchange? hahaha that’s not a real thrift store yall…
anyways, the place is organized by clothing type. I agree, it IS annoying that things aren’t priced, but she is always willing to bargain with you.
overall I enjoy the place because I feel like it’s not picked over. found the SICKEST vintage coat there last year and just the other day I took my friend and she got 2 sweet winter coats that were in great shape.

oh yea… and another random thing– call before you go– sometimes they are randomly closed.

This place is a joke.
Like the previous person mentioned there’s so much stuff inside this place that it’s hard to move around.
The lady at the front desk is loud and does not care about customer service or let alone selling. I have a feeling this place is financially supported by a church so there’s no need for her to sell anything. She just sits behind the desk and complains out loud about her personal family problems.
She also decides how much she charges for the items and it seems like she sees this as a game. A lady asked for the price of a dress (a used plain black dress) and this woman said $ 75. The old lady had to repeat «seven.five?».
The I asked her what time she closed the store and she said «Now!».
It’s not worth it going into this place. There’s nothing of value inside and the sales woman is rude. What a waste of space. I look forward to this place closing, if it ever does :/

As other reviewers have mentioned, the prices aren’t marked, and that drives me crazy. I tried to buy something there once, a belt maybe, and the price the woman marked it was obscene. No thanks. Never been back.

Okay no. I love thrift stores, I love the pursuit of a bargain and the endless promise lurking just on the next rack. But not only does this place make it nearly impossible to maneuver oneself to the next rack, but, in my experience, it is doubtful that such promise awaits.
Really, I don’t mind the treasure hunt if I come out with something good. But after at least thirty minutes of searching, the only reasonably good find I had was a Lux (like the Urban Outfitters brand) cardigan. Since the prices aren’t marked, it’s up to the proprietor’s discretion to assign a price. She said $ 12, I said no thanks. Yes I know that $ 12 for a sweater isn’t bad. But it was probably only $ 40 to begin with, and I’m sure I could have gotten it on sale at UO for $ 15. I saw a Betsey Johnson dress too, but it was really ugly. So disappointing.
Stop in if you’re in the area, but without high hopes. At least there was a tv with Judge Judy on for me to enjoy while digging.
