This diner is the best in the area and the servers are outstanding. Even when just popping in for a late night BLT they are always the friendliest and sweetest people!(especially the late night crew, I think one is Edgar??) Their menu has a bit of everything on it, and it seems they do everything well!(I have even had a really good steak here before, which is NOT something I am accustomed to eating in a diner!) The fact that they are always open, always happy, and the food is always good is what keeps this place an Astoria staple, and I will be happy to always order from them :)

spent $ 22.50 on a greek salad and BLT sandwich. ordered my food to go and picked up in person. when i get home my salad has frozen cucumbers and frozen radish. the bacon on my sandwich was tough and chewy, as if it were prepared in advance. called the restaurant and spoke with the manager. instead of apologizing and offering a replacement order, he argued with me, saying the food is stored at 40 degrees and all food is prepared at time of order. i wish i could post a photo of my disgusting meal. 13 years ago Neptune Diner was the place to eat. now its one of the most expensive and worst diners in astoria. i highly recommend to anyone placing an order for delivery or pick-up to inspect the food before paying. my money is best spent at Mini Star, where the food is fresh, the prices are reasonable and the owners/staff are extremely friendly.

The dinner was a cute small place with cute views of its surroundings. I was with my grandmother who needs a cane to walk but of course we had to sit all the way in the back while there are closer seats for us to sit in open. The waiter was very tolerant with our orders but I never got his name. The salad severed first is a lot more than expected but it was very good. I ordered fried calamari which was a risky move. It was ok. It didn’t have flavor at all and the sauce slightly helped. When it was time for dessert everything was great.

Bad experience, never coming again, attitude and as soon as I walked in the waiter was an asshole so I sat down in the booth he comes with menus and water not even saying hi how are you. nothing he was pissed and after that I was like I’m leaving I didn’t even order the food nothing I just left… when I am not greeted or not even a smile and an old guy comes at me looking pissed I don’t need to spend my money here or eat here… if I could give zero star I would

LOVED it here. I have lived in Astoria for 4 years and first tried the Neptune diner last week for Sunday breakfast. The eggs were perfect and the silver dollar pancakes were absolutely delicious.

Neptune diner is an institution and even when not perfect this place deserves respect. They’ve been serving the hungry, tired, and most of all the DRUNK for over 30 years. And they’ve done it with grace and consistently great results. If you come here expecting a first class meal then you’re white trash and should stay him with your ritz crackers. If you come with realistic expectations of what a diner can provide then you’re at the best Greek diner in the northeast. 4 stars for a diner that beats all others and I’ve tried them all!

I’ve been meaning to review this place so here it is, food was ok there are better diners around! Service was not on point. The waiter never checked on us, and we had to ask for more napkins. I like good service makes dining experience better and was not satisfied

Meh diner food-breakfast, sandwiches, burgers. They should get rid of the little nasty Greek men who work here! Bad attitude– we had to wait for a table and that’s fine with me but I couldn’t hear what the host said I said and I asked if he had said«10 minutes?» And he answered«you can say whatever you like!» What a rude way to answer a customer! Abysmal customer service! Waiter was equally nasty. Never again for me!!! By the way, the bacon was burnt and dry as well as the home fries! I don’t have to wait 25 minutes to have«this dining experience«ever again!

Pretty good spot that has been in Astoria for ages. The food was good and the prices were fine. The staff isn’t unfriendly, but they’re not friendly either. It’s kind of like being served by a robot. I love American diners because of the homey feel and welcoming staff, but I just didn’t get that here, which made me a little sad. I was pleased and mighr find myself coming here because it is convenient and the food selection is awesome, but I don’t see myself wanting to take friends here or having it as a go-to spot.

I wish I liked this place given it’s right down the street and super convenient and I love rainy day diner breakfasts. The food is way overpriced and not very good, and the service is just rude. Sour faces, rude comments, and tasteless food at expensive prices=I won’t be going back.

Definitely a fan of this place. It’s a comfort food diner, with all that you’d expect. The menu is robust and the platters are a very good size. Sometimes you’re able to take home leftovers and sometimes, you’ll lick the plate dry. It’s a tad overpriced but the service is great and everything comes pretty quickly. A very good«diner.» And the servers are cute Greek guys.

The food is actually pretty good. Had an omelette with some home fries and coffee. Pretty standard fare for diner food. Nice decorating. Typical crap NYC service though. Place was not busy and we needed to ask for more coffee. Took forever to take the order, then the food came fast. Never once checked on the table for drinks or anything else. Want good food and are ready to fend for yourself? Give them a try. Just remember, you’re on your own in here.

Classically bad new york service. I find it repulsive that the Jackson hole diner is right down the street it offers way better service and food. The food here is sub part and the way I was treated can only be compared to central bookings. The food is mostly prepared slop. Out of the can stuffed grape leaves, dressings and coleslaw. What pissed me off is the no refills on a drink the size of Capri sun. My server was rude and pretty much treated me how his manager treated me as if I had vomited in the bathroom. This place sucks. They must have payed the daily news to give them a plug. So bad I actually wrote the review while I was here.

I love this place, the cheeseburgers and fries are so good. My brother is a regular here and loves everything he gets. I ordered a 7 layer cake and can I tell you it is one of the best ones I’ve had! super fresh, soft, not dry and disgusting like some places. Oh btw their portions are HUGE!

I’ve only been here twice for breakfast, but I have to say it’s a great diner. They have a large variety of breakfast items you can chose from and everything is very affordable. I came here with my mom and brother and all of three of us had a filling breakfast for under $ 25. They have a small parking area which is very convenient and if you don’t drive, they are located right under the N train station! They are also open 24 hours which is amazing! Definitely would recommend everyone stop by this place!

This place is seriously an institution. My friend was in town and had an early morning flight out of JFK. He felt like hanging out in a diner and drinking coffee and eating cake. So that’s what we did! But Neptune is so much more than just coffee and pie. Their Greek specialties are off the hook. Breakfasts are the bomb. Never had their burger, but clearly I’ve heard that is my loss. It’s right off the N train in Astoria, and you have great views of the Triboro Bridge. Diners in NYC are a dime a dozen, but this place is a must visit.

Bad service. Waiter are rude and food is mediocre. They are terse and throw food on the table. When there is a line, they seat you in whatever order they like. We were there waiting and people came after us were seated before us.

All of the usual diner fare is available here from monster burgers and steak fries to all types of breakfast plates. Now what makes Neptune stand out is their always fresh fish from the market daily. I had the whole red snapper this time and it was broiled excellently. Service is great. They have been here forever but the place is updated with a very modern décor. If you have room for dessert they even do their own baking on the site — the apple strudel is big enough for two.

Try the baby salmon. I thought the waiter was full of sh*t, trying to sell me trout. But he insisted that baby salmon is a real thing. I ordered it and… It was delicious and the meat was pink like salmon. I looked it up later and it’s a real thing. Try it. Another tip, get the deluxe bagel platter with smoked salmon, capers, olives. It’s a tad pricey but it’s worth it. Very tasty

The good: I’ve been coming here since I was a kid in the 80’s and it hasn’t changed much as far as décor and staff. You see a lot of regulars and a lot of the same faces working here and majority of the staff in here are very friendly and accommodating. The food was good many years ago and I used to love coming here but I feel like it’s been a downward spiral since the mid to late 90’s. The stuff off the Greek portion of the menu is pretty good but Greek prices. Protip: You can get a FAR cheaper and better chicken gyro sandwich for 7 bucks even at the taco truck on 31st and Ditmars. You’re welcome. The bad: The prices are a little steep but that’s the norm in a rapidly gentrifying Astoria. I’m not trying to start s%&t here but I’ve gotten treated completely differently based on who I was with and what we looked like. We walked in there late at night from a factory job with a dark skinned Hispanic friend and the fat Greek guy in the cheap suit was cold and shoved us in the last 2 stools by the bathroom meanwhile the entire place was nearly empty. Didn’t want to risk putting us with the humans, eh? On the flip side I’ve walked in with generic white friends for dinner and gotten seated in the special looking plush seating area on your left behind the bar. Coinky dink? But I digress… The food is typical old fashioned Queens Greek greasy spoon diner fare. You’re going to get down and dirty cheap s&^% ingredients but you’ll pay top dollar. The burgers and fries are not the worst that I’ve seen but they’re nothing special. Nothing on the menu here besides the Greek stuff really jumps out at you. Every time I’ve had ice cream it has those ice crystals in it that symbolize it’s past its prime and improperly stored. Protip: This is the only diner I have ever been to in the world with a part time bouncer late at night. They’re always nice to me but if you look like trouble they will have no problem denying you entry. The f*&^ is this? Studio 54 with hamburgers? When you go there after hours, it’s mostly drunken d-bags, broskis, some thugs, snooty ass spray tanned bella girls, and assorted Euro trash ALL of which are arrogant and as fun to be around as the BMW’s they drove there drunk. I’ve seen fistfights in there because one dumb^%% Slim Shady started accusing another of «YOWHYYOULOOKIN’ ATMYGIRLSON» or another time a drunk broski started catcalling every girl as she walked to the bathroom. When they didn’t respond, he started F bombing them. I don’t care if he’s helping pay for the owner’s new villa in Thessaloniki! I’m a paying customer and I don’t need to see that; throw his ass out! They have that same stupid«voted best diner in queens» sign up but it’s laughably incorrect and outdated. Those of a certain age will remember it used to say«in 1995» at the bottom but they took that off in the early 2000’s and left the«voted best diner in queens» portion up. This was LONG after they stopped being any good. The ugly: One night me and 2 of my mates came here for dinner. I don’t remember exactly what we had but it was mostly burgers and fries. We stood outside chatting for a little while then parted ways. I live around the corner and by the time I got home I was doubled over in abdominal pain. 1st friend lives near Astoria Park. 1st friend made it to about 29st and 24av and he felt his tummy grumbling, had to jump in a cab and BEG the cabby to put the pedal to the metal and drive him several blocks before he had an anal evacuation. 3rd friend lives off Steinway and Broadway and wasn’t so lucky. He felt his stomach start doing back flips and power walked towards his place. Unfortunately he made it a few doors down before disaster struck and he couldn’t walk another step. He took a trash pail from outside a brownstone, pulled down his pants, hovered over it, and s*& his brains out. That’s right, he did a Van Wilder and let it rip in the middle of the street. I said«what would you have done if the cops saw?» and he said«I would have told them ‘you can write me the ticket when I’m done shi$^%ng, it was that bad’ «. In conclusion: They’re the only gig in town open at the Astoria Blvd train station after 4AM and they’ve taken full advantage of it by both jacking the prices and fobbing off the spoiling food on drunks because they know the drunks won’t know any better. I only come here if I’ve got not choice and the same should go for you.

Let me just start of by prefacing that my boyfriend and I came here for the first time on Christmas Day, since both of our families live in Buffalo, NY. We still wanted to have a small celebration of our own! 1. Happy people work there. People who are happy enough to be nice to customers coming in on a major holiday. That says it all. 2. Classic diner menu — huge, with all the favorites. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Everything I’ve ever eaten from Neptune has been delicious. I always get eggs, the homemade sausage(yum!), and French fries(the fries are so good that I’ll get them at breakfast, ha). 3. It’s right off the Astoria-Ditmars N/Q station — so convenient! And right by other Astoria favorites such as the park and the Bier Garden. I highly recommend Neptune. Since moving here from Buffalo, NY I’ve tried to find a diner that satisfies like the few back home I’d grown to love. This place exceeded my expectations, has a homey and warm feeling, and I will definitely continue to come back!

A stranger paid my bill at Neptune’s this afternoon, which I think speaks volumes about the caliber of customers this establishment attracts, as well as the staff they employ, who knew this good samaritan to be a regular here. I came to Neptune’s on a Saturday at around 12:30, and it was busy but not packed. It’s a very large space in contrast to the tiny diners I’m used to frequenting in Astoria, which was a nice change of scene. I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted and served water. The staff was friendly and attentive, and even though I was just one solo person eating here I didn’t feel undervalued. I ordered the hot open turkey sandwich, which came with a potato(I chose mashed) a vegetable(I chose their mixed vegetable medley) and a soup or salad(I got their chicken and rice soup) for a mere 13 bucks and change. A hot open turkey sandwich is my go-to at diners, and I’ve had this dish at just about every diner in Astoria. Hands down, this was the best one I have ever eaten. The turkey was fresh and moist and not dried out, and their gravy was flavorful and not too salty. The mashed potatoes were creamy and fresh, and the vegetable medley wasn’t just the bag of mixed frozen veggies you’d expect but rather included fresh cauliflower, carrots and string beans. As I mentioned before, when I asked for the check I found that my bill had been paid by a man who had been sitting behind me with his son. I’ve been on my own for quite some time now, and having someone else take care of me in this very unexpected way was truly refreshing — especially coming from someone who didn’t even want to be identified for their kind action. I will most definitely be coming back to Neptune’s for their food and hospitality — and in hopes of running into the Neptune’s regular who paid my bill to say thank you.

After a late night out, when all the cards are down, all hope lost, when you drank all your self-dignity away in the midst of Queens, Neptune Diner is there to accept you and your wasted friends, feed you some cozy veggie omelettes and delicious syrupy French toast til you can’t breathe anymore, and send you home on your way to sober up. Self-loathing thy name is Neptune Diner.

Great food everytime I come here. Fast, friendly service. Last week I ordered the lox and onions omelete with swiss cheese added. The omelete was so big I barely put a dent in it. I have yet to try anything on the lunch menu so I can only speak on breakfast. If your in the mood for good breakfast at a reasonable price then I would recommened this one.

I came here the other night when I was waiting for the GF to come home, have always wanted to try it and it was 11:30 so it was a great time to get breaky. I had the greek omlete and added gyro meat. the omlete was cooked perfect for me and the home fries were crispy which was a bonus, and an egg cream and I was pretty happy.

I knew about this place for years, but never had a chance to go there. I am often excited to try new place, and I was the same way on Presidents Day. The painting of Neptune on the menu seemed be welcoming me. I liked Greek Specialty menu. I like Greek spinach pie, but I ordered Lasagna looking food called Pastitsio this time. The difference from Lasagna is type of pasta. Long Macaroni look like pasta is used for Pastitsio. It came with Greek Salad. I liked these combination. My boyfriend asked if they can make Turkey Reuben although it was not on menu. They made it for him. That was nice. The service wasn’t that good. I ordered standard coffee and my BF ordered decaf coffee. The waiter pored more coffee to my cup, but my BF’s decaf was ignored. They didn’t come to take order for a while and they forgot to give us a check.

It’s a diner. Nothing special or extravagant about this place. Personally, I only order items that I know a diner can’t mess up, like a burger. Sure it may be a bit over cooked, but it’s pretty darn hard to make a burger inedible. That being said, they were definitely over cooked. I ordered the bacon burger with fries. I wish the bacon was a bit saltier and more flavorful, but it was like cardboard. My friend ordered the Mexican Burger and it had WAY too many jalepeños. After picking some off the burger was decent. The staff was nice, they refilled the waters quickly and brought the food out fast. Best of all, I don’t think this place ever closes so after a rough night out you can grab a cheap bite to eat. With a 20% tip the bill still came to less than $ 30 for two. Due to location(right under the train), price, hours of operation, and staff I’d give this place 2.5−3 stars.
