In a sea of Asian take out places, this is among the worst. The vegetables aren’t fresh, the beef is rubbery and tastes bad, and everything is drowning in sauce. The place is a grease haven. Some people swear by it, but there are SOMANY other places that are better than decent in the same area.

I have always believed that one should not judge a book by it’s cover. I am sad to say that I had done just that with this restaurant. I have often walked by here on the way home from work, and thought it a dump. It doesn’t look nice from the outside, and inside there are just a few tables and chairs. Recently, I decided to go there for some take out. The woman who was taking the orders was very nice. Considering that she was handling multiple orders while answering the phone, the service was excellent. And, bottom line, the food was very good. I ordered pork fried rice, chicken with cashews, and a beef dish. We also had some egg rolls. I really loved the egg rolls, and the other dishes were also great. The prices were also decent. I have read some of the very good reviews of this place and mentally made a list of things to order in the future. So, to anyone who may walk by this place, check it out!

I go there once a week. I’ve had this type of to-go-Chinese food a lot from different store in NY. This place gives you good portion, and their taste is better than average.

My favorite Chinese takeout /delivery in Astoria. The owners are amazing and the food is always quick and delicious. One of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve ever had food from. I usually get the broccoli and tofu — drenched in yummy sauce. And the noodles with veggies are great too. My husband gets the orange chicken and sesame chicken and raves about it

Great quality take out, generously sized portions, reasonably priced. Also has a nice neighborly, «part of the community» type of feel to it how they get along with the regular customers. Much better than Golden Kitchen on Astoria Blvd.

Standard Chinese joint with above average food and portions. Staff here is very friendly and delivery is quick. Cash only. Worth checking out if you’re in the neighborhood!

DONOTGOHERE!!! Just ordered two lunch specials, and the fried rice had a roach in it.

Three stars on the basis of staff kindness and low prices. The food is a solid 2 stars — definitely edible, and probably highly appealing after beer garden revelry, but below average for NYC Chinese food. Salt/grease are the main flavor components.

Some people are foodies. They love the décor of the restaurant, the friendliness of the waiter, the nuances of how the dish is presented and subtle flavors presented by the cook I like cheap food. New Good One is the perfect spot for low-priced, good tasting chinese food. Is it clean inside? Well no… but it’s cheap and tasty. The lady inside is great also. While some people may think she comes off as abrupt, I find her hilarious. If you get the general tso chicken, she will tell you they’re «keeping it crispy for you». In reality that just means the cook is deep frying the hell out of it in oil that hasn’t been changed since the 90s but none of the less I appreciate the effort. Speaking of the 90’s, the prices of this place will make you think current events include the end of the Cold War and the presidential election of Nelson Mandela. Most of the items on the lunch special are listed under $ 6. They’re either losing money or they’re taking bets in the back. Either way you won’t see me complaining.

Food was extremely greasy. Ordered chicken wings with fries and egg roll. Yes it is fried but you can tell when food has been fried in old oil and used a couple of times.

New Good One is pretty much the perfect chinese takeout. It’s inexpensive, fast, and most everything is very tasty. I can’t recommend the steamed dumplings but we order regularly and are never disappointed with our meals. Special thanks to the friendly lady who always takes my order.

The people who work here are awesome. Super friendly. First time I came here I was little short on my order total and they were nice enough to let it slide without making a fuss whatsoever. Saved me a lot of embarassment and having to go home and journey back. The woman behind the counter is the best. I loved this place before I even tried the food. Everytime i’ve noticed someone ordering here she always throws in a free soda if not two or three depending on the size of your order. When I order chinese I just want huge portions of pretty good chinese food. That’s exactly what you get here. They never disappoint.

Slightly embarrassed that the nice counter lady knows me, but what can you do. Their tofu+broccoli is among the best I’ve ever had. The place looks sketchy, but they’re nice, quick, cheap, and everything I’ve ordered has been good!

Love when racism comes out in a Unilocal review…(lookin’ at you Ana B…) This place is your standard grease chinese: perfect for a hangover, perfect for lazy take-out, etc. Their veggie lo mein is the best I’ve found in Astoria. Also, the woman who works here is SONICE and wonderful. She’ll often throw in a free soda with your meal, and multiple times she’s rounded down to the nearest dollar for me. Love her.

Really tasty New York/American style Chinese. The egg rolls(which I usually dislike) were really great… the skin was more thin than usual egg rolls and the filling was really good.

It’s a Tuesday night and my tummy’s a-grumble I check my fridge but my smile crumples There’s no food there, how can this be?! And I know my wallet is so very empty Curse you, grad school! you made me poor! What to eat when money’s no more? Sighing, I decide to venture outside And soon come upon an inconspicuous sign New Good One, it says, I shrug and go in And am greeted by the heat and din I check out the menu and am pleasantly shocked Prices so low, am I being mocked?! I order fried noodles and take a seat Within 10 minutes, I grab my food and leave Back home I discover — this food is YUM Though the grease I’m sure will make me plump But hey, I’m broke so what does it matter? I’ll pinch pennies and happily grow fatter Thanks New Good One for filling my tummy and helping me to spend less money

Decent cheap Chinese food. Solid on all the standard fare I like: won ton soup, beef broccoli, general tso. Can’t beat the lunch special for $ 5.40(at press time). soup, entrée w/rice. Always like to pick up, but on the rare occasion have had delivered. No delivery issues so far after 4 attempts. You can trust me on this. I’m the duke(for now).

Never again. The lady who picked up the phone is super rude and a liar. She said delivery would take 40 minutes and it’s over an hour and still no food. I called to see if my food had already left or if they were still making it and she replied with«I don’t know». Totally clueless. She then proceeded to say«We very busy. We very busy. Nothing I can do. Bye bye». I will never order from this place again.

Come on, 4 reviews?! And next door beer garden has 300?! How many of you go to beer garden or sparrow and end up eating Chinese food at this place?! … so the food was okay, usual ghetto American style Chinese take out. Very fast service. The lady works behind the counter is saint, she takes order and watch her kids doing homework at the same time, now that’s true working class hero, if you see her make sure to tip even if you ain’t eating in. The only thing I didn’t like is the chefs smoking outside then go straight to the kitchen… not appealing.
