Wine Stop NYC

This is a really nice wine shop. My man and I decided to go in and browse for some different red wines and I’m glad we did. The staff was extremely helpful and assisted us in finding everything we were looking for and more! We purchased two wines and a really really good bottle of Egg Nog. I only gave 4 stars because I asked for a red sweet wine (not dry) and what I got was the total opposite.

People working here were super helpful in helping us find a bottle. They did not judge us (noticeably) at all when we told them we wanted something sweet, cheap, and high ABV. Also they gave us free samples.

Gruff customer service from the two guys who are usually here. The type i expect from a bulletproof glass kind of liquor store not one that seems to be trying to be cutesey boutique. They have a nice selection of brown spirits but do an awful lot of blowing smoke up your ass to make the sale. I also find it hard to take the recommendations from the guys who are usually chain smoking outside. I’d rather go down to Astoria Wine & Spirits even if it is a few blocks further from the train stop.

After a stressful work week, all I want to do is catching up with my shows, munching on chips, and having a glass of wine! Don’t you agree?
For an entire week, all I could think about was a glass of rosé. Luckily for me, I stopped by here while they were having a rosé summer party. The middle shelves showcased all the rosé wines that they have available. This made it so easy for me to just go around and read the taste notes description. Although, I was immediately approached by staff which I am very grateful for. I expressed that I like fruity notes and not too dry. He gave me a few great recommendations instead of just trying to sell me the most expensive bottle. He fully understood what I wanted and liked. I ultimately went with a strawberry taste note one. Rosé was phenomenal! I had a glass just by itself (which was already tasty!) and just to amp it up, I simply cut up and freeze fresh strawberries to go with the rest of the bottle!
The store itself is a bit small but very organized. I love the hippie music playing in the background, too! For my upcoming summer parties, this will be the spot that I will be stopping by for wines!

A lovely shop with a great selection, but unfortunately (due to the nature of small businesses) overpriced for NYC. If you need an interesting wine and are nearby, thumbs up. Scotch drinkers may want to look elsewhere.

Nice place with a nice selection of not so common wines, champagnes, and spirits. BUT, from my experience they are significantly overpriced. I’ve found a lot of the same selections in the city and other places at a lower price. I’m not talking $ 1 – 2 either. They do offer free delivery and are conveniently located by the train. So its a good place to go when you just need something last minute.

Very nice place to get your wine from not the best prices but great service and great atmosphere.

Great new boutique wine store in Astoria. Love that they are on the corner of 30^th Street & Broadway. Being a life long resident of Astoria, I really appreciate the level of professionalism, look of the store, exceptional and knowledgeable personnel. The owners are from the neighborhood also and are investing in Astoria’s future. They deliver — a God send! The opening night was incredible and I see they have been very busy since then. The wine tastings are the icing on the cake!

When this place opened up it filled such a hole in my life! It is conveniently located less than a block from the N-​Q broadway stop in Astoria. They have such a wide selection of wines, which I’ve tried many of and have had a hard time finding one I didn’t like! The owner does an excellent job of picking the best bottles to keep in stock.
The prices range from cheap (less than $ 10), to pricey for the special occasion ($ 40+), with the majority of bottles being between $ 10 – 15, which is usually what I go for.
However, it’s more than just a great place to get wine! They have a great array of hand picked locally made liqueurs. You might not find all the big name brands because they instead stock up on local and small name whiskey’s, Gins and Bourbons.
Stop in for nightly tastings before 9pm.

Not only the best looking wine shop around but the most affordable and they encourage customers to bring their dogs in. Chuck and the guys provide treats. They are great with humans too. I’ve learned a lot about sustainable vineyards and organic wines, Wine Stop specialities, at their daily and free tastings. There’s no downside to this place. I like the $ 10.00 back for every $ 150.00 spent. It’s my retirement plan.

I moved to Astoria pretty recently and discovered that New York does not sell alcohol in grocery stores! Gasp! So I decided to walk around my new neighborhood looking for a place to buy some wine. I must say finding Wine Stop was a pleasant surprise! The owner is super knowledgeable and has led me to several delicious bottles of wine.
I think it’s a great touch that they have nightly tastings. I have found a bottle or two from these tastings that I wouldn’t normally buy.

I love the wine stop. It is by far the best wine and liquor store on this side of the tracks. The owner, Chuck, is extremely knowledgable, helpful, and friendly. I frequently go in knowing nothing about what to buy for some occasion, and the staff always helps out with very helpful ideas.
The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is great. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a high quality wine /​liquor store. Also, they have free delivery within a certain radius.

I’m not a wine person, but I’ve been here a few times for a few different things: just to stop in for a look with me oenophile gf, trying to find a bottle of wine as a gift for aforementioned gf, finding a cheap red that still had character for a recipe. One two of those accounts it was outstanding. Wine stop is definitely a good place to go if you’re learning about wine, the staff clearly loves wine but are unpretentious about it and if you ask them what you might be looked down on as a ‘stupid question’ as someone who doesn’t know much about wine. You don’t get talked or looked down on they really try to educate you. So, if you say, walk in explicitly saying you want the cheapest red they won’t bat an eye but will show you where it is and when you self-​consciously add that it’s for cooking they definitely stop and give you more options as to what fits both the ‘cheap’ and ‘good for cooking category.’
All the wines though are moderately priced so it’s perfect if you’re looking to get into wine without breaking the bank. However, if you’re looking for something a little pricier for a gift or as a way to impress folks you may want to go elsewhere. Basically, it’s wine for everyone, which is what I look for 99% of the time.

Let’s talk about awesome.

I’m going to go with «inspiring great admiration.» A friendly voice on the other line when attempting to place my first delivery order. Awesome! A helpful employee, ready with suggestions when I’m unsure of what I want. Awesome! A gentle note from said employee that it might be a little while before delivery, because the deliverer is eating dinner and has one stop to make before mine. Awesome! A doorbell ring less than 20 minutes later. Awesome! A gentleman hands me my wares, then asks what I ordered. After learning of my selections, the gentleman replies, «oh! The Sancerre, that’s excellent. And the Pinot Grigio, that’s a great choice.»
We might have to move to «epic» after that experience. From in person to delivery Wine Stop is now my favorite purveyor in the ‘hood. Run, don’t walk. Or… just pick up the phone!

Knowledgeable and friendly staff who don’t push the $ 30 price point. Seriously, they’ve steered me towards some amazing $ 11 bottles (and I’m choosy). Again, the place is small so please leave your poodle/​stroller/​backpack/​oversized umbrella outside or near the register.

They’re conveniently located near the Broadway stop on the N/​Q, but even more conveniently — they deliver! Whenever I have ordered, they’re usually at my door within 10 – 15 mins. It seriously doesn’t get better than that.
To top it off, all of the guys that work there are super friendly, and always make good recommendations. This place is an awesome addition to the neighborhood.

I prefer this place to the other wine shop down the street (Angela’s) that I used to frequent before Wine Stop opened because it’s a lot more inviting and the staff is friendlier.

I was looking for more high end bottle to give as a present and didn’t have much luck finding any. At Wine Stop, I found just what I was looking for! And the $ 69 bottle of Pinot I found was on sale half off!!! Awesome:-)

Beautiful shop directly across the street from Sanford’s and steps off the N & Q line on Broadway. The owner is knowledgeable & friendly, and her staff is too. Charles & Alexis are a pleasure, and can make helpful recommendations. They know their stuff. The shop is small & intimate, easy to navigate, warm and inviting. A nice added touch to the neighborhood! Here’s a few things that will set them apart and out of the ordinary:
— The shop is open until midnight!
— There is free local delivery
— There will be tastings daily from 5−8pm

Looks a very promising wine boutique in the area, opening night was great.
