Hertz Rent A Car

I used to come here a long time ago… it has really improved.
As stated in a previous review, they guy running the desk now is amazing. He is quick at his work (no long waits, thank god) and friendly. He was also informative on the area. Good customer service!
The cars are spotless now… There is no indication of a previous renter inside or out: just a clean car (that doesn’t smell of overwhelming air freshener most car rental companies use).
The pricing was reasonable for the «prestigious» Wine Country/​San Luis Obispo County area.
Overall, if I have business in this area again, I will be returning. I would recommend this place to anyone.

If you have time to wait, and you don’t mind standing outside a locked office until one of the shop boys from next door can get to you, this is the perfect location. I realize this is a satellite location and it’s great if you are not local, you get towed in and need a rental car — win win for all involved… but if you want great FAST service… drive to SLO.

Worse experience ever, first off I arrive n the location is closed, I had to call for someone to arrive and open, which took him like 20 minutes (while I waited sitting outside in 100degree weather). After he finally let us in, he informs me he has zero records of the reservation, although he had the reservation number infront of him… I’m sorry but I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone… one word Unprofessional

BEWARE!!! As previous stated in another review. I so wish I could give 0 stars. The absolute worst customer service ever and most rude employees at one location. I rented and prepaid for a SUV 3 days prior to my arrival. In The late afternoon the day before I am scheduled to pick up, I receive a call from a guy I can barely understand. He mumbles to me that they overbooked and he can offer me a corolla. I simply said no thanks I wish to cancel and rent an SUV elsewhere and he said OK. I asked to verify no charges were made to my card and he said None were made.
Sure enough, the full amount was charged on my card. I called the office and requested a refund. I was so told NO WE CANT HELP about 5 times as I went around and around with one guy and then the manager wouldn’t even let me speak and said to call corporate as he couldn’t help me. WOW! No apology, no let me connect you, NOTHING! ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. After waiting 22 mins on hold with corporate I was granted a refund. So BEWARE! Don’t rent here unless you don’t want the car you requested, to be charged for what you don’t receive, to be over talked by the staff and manager, and to waste your day on hold with corporate to resolve anything. Hertz needs to get it together and find staff willing to be customer based at all times!!! Never will I rent with Hertz.

I needed a rental car ASAP for a emergency trip. I found a local location in Atascadero, I called and listened to the message and understood this was a satellite location. I left a message and my call was promptly returned by Joe who again explained this was a satellite location and he managed the auto shop next door and would meet me at a time of my choice. I scheduled my appointment met Joe and had my car. It was the fastest and easiest car rental experience I have every been involved in. Understand it’s not staffed regularly and be a little patient.

The service here is unbelievably bad. I am writing this as I sit waiting for 90 minutes outside the office waiting for a prepaid car. The person who runs this office is a ‘flake’ to quote a neighbor — business worker. The office is supposed to be open until 1pm it’s 1145 now and no one is here. I confirmed with the person here that I would meet him here this morning and he still didn’t show. A number is posted on the door but no one answers. I’ve called the corporate office and they could not find him. They also said they could not transfer the reservation to San Luis Obispo because it was prepaid. It’s frustrating to be treated worse because I paid in advance.

I wish I could give zero stars! Worst experience ever with any rental company. My wife works for a company that travels extensively and uses hertz almost exclusively. Normally they are really good. This particular location was horrible!!! First off they say they will pick up up if you live within 15 minutes, however they were absolutely unwilling to drive 14 to Paso Robles. So we made the reservation anyway for 10:00 but when we got there they had a sign on the window «for hertz call this number» so we called. No answer. The phone inside rang but there was clearly no one inside to answer at 10:30. If you are set on hertz you are going to have to go to SLO airport or Santa Maria airport. You’re better off choosing another company, unfortunately that was not an option for us. We were on our own time and dollar to go down to SLO hertz they by the way ROCKED!
We were told by corporate when we called that the area manager would be contacting us ASAP as we were standing outside the closed rental office… Still waiting.
Apparently that office is run by the auto shop next door but when I walked over to inquire about any service, I was told that «essentially they were connected but no one there was able to help»

Hertz is a great company, but there was a major mix-​up today with either the reservation system or this office. Made a car rental for 10 a.m., went there, and the office wasn’t even open. No one was picking up the phone all morning, so I suspect the employee is MIA. No really the reliability you want when renting a car! Had to drive to SLO.
