So I have visited this Barbs many times since my last review and I have to say that it has definitely risen in my book. Maybe I had to figure out the right thing to order but Barbs has definitely grown on me. I love their spicy chicken with fresh jalapeños, no one else offers anything quite like it. I always get a spicy chicken burrito bowl and a small side of queso, and that is the perfect combo for me. While I feel like there isn’t much rice when they are making it, the balance of all the ingredients is pretty perfect the way they make it at this location. If you have company to share with, definitely get the queso & guac combined(only comes in large). It’s delicious and makes most other quickserve queso pale in comparison. Also a note, lunch at this location can get really busy so if you are visiting around lunchtime, be prepared for the line stretching to the door Love this Barbs and will def be back much more!

The staff is awesome. I’m a barberitos connoisseur and for whatever reason, this location has the best chips. I’ve never had a bad meal or experience.

Some might disagree with me, but Barberitos feels like a strange combination of Moe’s and Chipotle. They offer burritos, tacos, salads, and bowls. You can mini size a burrito for $ 1 less, I think, which is actually a good portion size for those who struggle to finish a full sized burrito in one sitting(me). Just like the other similar-type quickserve Mexican places, you line up to go through the process of assembling your food. They offer different tortilla choices if you get a full-size burrito, you have the option of a plain flour tortilla as well as spinach, chipotle, and wheat tortillas. Mini size burritos can only be made with the flour tortilla. One thing that sets Barbs apart is their spicy chicken. For your protein options, there is the standard steak, tofu, chicken options, but you can also get your chicken spicy where they sautee it right then with some of their hot sauce and fresh jalapenos(if you choose) before adding it to your burrito/bowl/taco. The spicy chicken definitely has a good amount of heat, which can be nicely balanced with the nice selection of toppings you can add to your food. Pico de gallo, lettuce, cilantro, mushrooms, guacamole, corn & bean mix, mango salsa, and sour cream are just some of the options they offer, though some cost extra. Another thing I love about Barbs is Fish Taco Fridays. I make an effort to go to Barberitos on Fridays because it is the only day they offer their jerk fish tacos, or to have jerk fish in your choice of burrito/bowl/etc. Love their fish tacos. Definitely give them a try if you have not had the chance. The fish tacos come with certain toppings, including guac which you can have them make it the way it comes or request your own preferred toppings. Perhaps the one greatest distinguishing factor for Barberitos is their Guac and Cheese combined dip. Comes in one size at a whopping $ 3.99, but its a shareable-size container with guacamole underneath their cheese dip. Very yummy, although definitely not one to attempt on your own as it is a lot of dip in the one size that they offer.

Let’s start with the food. It’s standard Tex Mex fare, but made with what seem to be top notch ingredients. Pair that with the experience of the majority of the staff, and you have a very tasty combination. Speaking of the staff, they are the reason that this review is Five Stars. Even when busy, they bend over backwards for customer satisfaction. For example, when a burrito was being made, it burst on the last wrap. Without hesitation, the gentleman making our food(John, perhaps? I failed to get his name) immediately transferred the food to a fresh tortilla. The staff also make great recommendations, and accomodate customers with uncommon tastes or needs. If you’re in the mood for great service and very tasty, filling food, come to this Barberitos.

Very competitive as far as Tex-Mex places go. Flavor and portions are good. The free chips are a great bonus, but the salsas are very strange and I don’t like them. They give you free lemons and limes so that almost makes up for it. The mango salsa is delicious.

I’ve been a regualar patron of Barberitos for the past 3 years. This location in particular stands out above the rest. The ingredients are always fresh and tasty. The crew is always engaging and personable. I visit here at least once per week to fix my Barberitos craving! And now, Corn salsa is free!

I was a fan of the food. I don’t know why people compare this with Chipotle. They have so many choices! I couldn’t even finish my burrito. Bonus points: they have fresh jalapeño peppers! Wooohoo bring the heat

I’ve been coming to Barberitos for a while, and had a craving last night so went to the east side location. It was a good experience overall — good food(as usual), good service, good price. I got a steak quesadilla which was super cheesy, and this time I added the mango salsa(which is new). It was tasty — not sure if it’s worth the up charge but I did get a good heaping scoop so if you want some fresh taste go for it. I regretted adding olives, since it way overpowered the flavor(very canned), but otherwise a good dinner, as you’d expect.

Forget Chipotle. And honestly, forget all the other Barberitos locations except for the Eastside. These guys, especially the night crew, are consistently the most pleasant out of any of the locations, and David is just cool as hell. Never had a wrong order, bad food, or bad service. Always energetic, always making awesome recommendations, always awesome. If you need a burrito, don’t go anywhere else.

This place has potential. I like their assembly line style as it allows for individualizing your burrito(or whatever) and I like that they have some healthy options. Unfortunately most of the components are pretty bland. The salsa bar is particularly disappointing; not one of the offerings is truly spicy. The rice and beans are also begging for some seasoning. It would be nice if they grilled the tortillas used in burritos in order to avoid the gummy texture that ensues when the various fillings are added. When a tortilla isn’t grilled it basically turns to glue and adheres to the roof of your mouth. Gross. Anyway, if Barberitos addressed those things there would actually be a decent burrito place in Athens.

I know a burrito is a burrito, but I really like this particular one! I know for a fact that they make their sauces fresh every morning. Word of this got out at some point and college students started actually bringing in mugs and filled them up with the salsas! The food just seems fresher than most and the staff is always really fun.

Fresh ingredients and cool people is what you will find here. You may think this is just another burrito shop but their style and service will beat out the competition. They always have good consistent food. They are a bit pricey but the food is well worth it. They have a variety of options for both vegetarians and meat lovers alike. My favorite is the spicy chicken spinach wrap burrito with black beans, it is awesome. All the toppings are free with the burrito so add away.

Fast tex-mex food. Fresh veggies. Love the corn salsa. I honestly wouldn’t change anything. I still think Chipotle is better, but there’s not one in Athens. Barberitos is a pretty good alternative!
