A & P Lofts

This is the very worst loft in Atlanta because of prejudice, bias & the strong arm tactics used by the Association here. If you’re like me & looking for common courtesy, kindness, warmth, respect & I expect to be treated like I treat you, LOOK ELSEWHERE. The people on their committees stay for yrs & yrs in office not because they’re good but nobody wants the position. The association in charge of this loft has NEVER had good communication with its Owners. In fact Owners are treated the very same as a renter & there are lots of them in this building. The security in this building is terrible. I live here during the day as well. I’ve seen crack cocaine tenent’s here & an occasional crack buyer walking through these desolate halls during the day. Orders given to fix anything are the Owners responsibility 9 out of 10 times & if given to the A & P association they usually never get completed. How long do you think it took to replace a light bulb in a ground floor bathroom (with only this light in the bathroom, lol)? Would over a year feel right? Its true. Its also true that neither of the 2 bathrooms on the ground floor even worked for over a year. There has been a serious water leakage problems at this loft even after they replaced the roof with some tenants still angry & upset about the damages to their lofts. Do you think this happened years after the builder supposedly replaced the roof? The roof wasn’t free from leaks 3 yrs after it was replaced & the current homeowners paid the cost of a new roof; not the builder who used inferior products or workmen… This association decided to use Union Bank Homeowners Assoc to receive its HOA fees but changed their minds a short time afterwards. Do you think this association placed a flyer in everyone’s mailbox? No. They simply don’t act like they care. They sent a email & apparently announced it in one of their rubber stamp meetings. I never received the email & after trying to sign in to pay the homeowners dues couldn’t. Do you think an association member could? No.,’ the sign in’ is defective. Do you think I’ll be charged late fees? You can bet your life I will be. This association is great at nickel & dime ‘ing’ you. Never expect forgiveness for anything unless you pay for it… My car has been broken into on more than 1 occasion in their security parking lot, lol & recently a brand new scooter was keyed inside the building. I’ve also lost parcels which were simply left at my door. Think twice about ever living here. I’ve lived here since 2007 & these are just a few of the stories I have to tell. IF you like strong-​arm tactics, being ordered to do something without forewarning, given unreasonable deadlines, being told by the building’s homeowners committee/A&P Association that all your personal items in 2 storage units you thought had been given to you to use (since noone wanted to move into this building for years) would be taken out & thrown in public or trashed in 3 days with 0 forewarning. This is the way a Owner is treated in this building. There are much better run & friendlier lofts on the belt-​line where you don’t receive this kind of treatment. I’m here just about everyday and I thought of this place quite fondly so I gave it 4 stars.
Its minus one star due to the neighborhood and recent break ins to several cars directly across the street for visitor parking. If your car is not in one of the 2 locked and gated parking lots, you just might be asking for it.. Five separate windows were broken just last week and cars were pillaged and just plain disrespected., –an unfortunate event indeed. –With the police precinct caddy corner across the street. –just not safe outside locked gates.
Now, back to some pros regarding A&P Lofts :
Bonus features (in my opinion) would include the fact that this is the most dog friendly building I have ever come across along with a very interesting array of folks of all ages who happen to reside here, visit, hang out, etc.
The location is pretty convenient as well. It’s just a hop skip and a jump over to the many hip surrounding neighborhoods, cities, restaurants, bars, parks, etc. — the list really goes on and on and on… Oh! –and a short bike ride/​walk/​jog, etc. to Cabbagetown, East Atlanta Village, Grant Park, Zoo Atlanta, Inman Park, Glenwood Park, Edgewood, Little 5 Points, Freedom Park, the Beltline, and the list goes on. And right across the street to Harper Station, Home Grown (yes!) and so on and so forth.
And from the rooftop there’s an amazing view of all of the sky scrapers making up downtown Atlanta. –and you may enjoy the view while barbecuing and enjoying the lovely breeze. Yep.
And an update: I will have to agree with Alicia and the fact that there are pet owners who simply look the other way when there dogs are dropping their loads. Whether it be on the rooftop –yes! –the rooftop (which I cleaned up and then hosed down last week to avoid the inevitable: someone stepping in it due to being right outside the door) — or YOU, –yes, YOU: the one who moved in fairly recently and looked the other way 4 TIMES while your BIG dog dumped everywhere as I watched out the window while working the treadmill from above. I even asked loudly if you were going to clean it all up and you just shrugged. You know who you are and you’re not the only one. Or those who let their dogs dump in the hallways where there are conveniently no cameras located ans add the Association who lets it sit there for a week (after numerous phone calls) –and that is just a winning combination. Just like the indoor puddles. Enough ranting, –for the most part I like this place, most of the tenants, as well as location.

Though they aren’t located in the prettiest part of town (the corner of Memorial in a rougher section of the development), it’s a smart buyer who knows that in 3 – 5 years this whole section of town will be completely renovated and installed with flashy businesses. This place is an investment for certain.
Unfortunately, right now, driving up to the A&P building makes it seem a little rough. The road is messy and basically everything is under construction. Even the outside of the building is a little basic: just squared off concrete with huge windows.
On the inside, though, these loft apartments are actually quite nice. Spacious and wood-​floored with enormous windows and modern kitchens: all the stops. I went to a party here once and was quite impressed with the look of it all.
I believe they are 75% sold right now, but there are still some great deals in this building. Definitely worth checking out as an investment.
