Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway

This place is a dump, no bathrooms without a mile long wait. No decent places to eat. No Starbucks. Flights delayed all over the place. So much money coming into this place, they can’t do better???

Every employee here aims to please. Service is top notch. Standouts were Solomon and Rashad, who work the front (valet, bellhop), and Maria the bartender.
It’s pretty much a standard Marriott property. Nice lobby. Rooms were cleaned in a timely manner. We didn’t use the conference space, but we walked by there, and it seemed nice.
My only real «complaint» is that the Champions restaurant doesn’t seem to have air conditioning, and we had a power outage/​fire alarm situation that kept me from getting dressed as early as I needed to. Certainly not their fault.
WiFi in rooms is only available if you pay for it. Get with it, Marriott.

I am surprised this hotel has decent reviews. Okay, i guess it’s clean and has the air train to the airport so that has to be worth something. I’ll give that 4 stars, especially for the price. Someone might wonder why I gave it only two. For a hotel with an indoor pool, it isn’t heated SO I ASK, what is the point of an indoor pool? The food is decent, both from room service and the restaurant downstairs.
I was charged twice for the same order. When I went back to complain the front desk manager apologized and was gracious about it; I was also told it had been happening all morning. So why the hell hasn’t it been fixed?! You just wasted my time coming back to address the issue.
Also, unless you get a parking card, you get charged every time you go in and out of the garage; self park. I heard the service at this hotel used to be better.

Nice hotel and good food at the restaurant; especially the fried chicken and shrimp and grits. However, the «down» comforters in the rooms were missing the down. I was left with 2 sheets sewn together and small clumps of down in the corners of the comforter. Photos posted. #Wheresthedown #Whyevenbother #Imfreezing

As an update:
I received a hand writhed letter from the manager here the night after I listed this telling me he would take this charge off my bill and how sorry he was. I WAS hoagy with this until I went to check out of the hotel and the woman checking me out refused to take it off my bill even after I showed her the note from the manager! My boss who flies me out here for work conferences is an ELITE member. I will make sure we no longer use this hotel.

There has been several issues with this place since I checked in a day ago, however the final straw was when I ordered ice cream this evening a small pint of ice cream (simple order right?) they brought me a tub someone had clearly fatten out of!!! So gross! I’m posting pictures! Can’t believe I paid $ 10 for that!!!

I stayed at this property on three occasions and each experience has been relatively pleasant.
Convenient should be a part of the hotel name. When catching an early or late night flight, the location is your best option. The hotel is actually located between the airport terminal and rental car center. A free sky train transports you to/​from the hotel and rental car center and it passes regularly. Dropping off the rental car the night before an early flight could not be any easier.
Generally speaking, the rooms are nice. They are relatively spacious, equipped with a fridge and are pretty sound proof. There are a few signs of aging/​wear, but it is at least 5 years old so it is too be expected. The mattress during one stay had a huge dip in it and felt a little like the initial tip when going down a tall water slide. But, I slept alone so it was pretty easy to stay on the high side. Lol… During the other stays, the bedding was a not an issue.

Food was good and the service was ok. We ate at the Champions restaurant after a seminar. The only reason for eating there was because it would waive the hefty parking fee. By the way lunch for two was the same cost as the parking fee! Reason for my low score is the sneaky 18% gratuity included on the bill and then a section below to fill in your own gratuity.
Note to self: read those receipts thoroughly and never be in too much of a hurry not to take notice of the fact that you just paid double gratuity — and the service wasn’t good enough to deserve a 38% tip! Very sneaky Marriott :(

My stay on Feb. 26 – 27 looked like it was going to be a disaster. The hotel had a college convention at it and the lobby was a mad house when I got there. They sent me over to a separate are to checkin, unfortunately it took longer than the front desk did checking in all the convention people. The saving thing for this stay was the lady assigned to the Marriott Elite desk and she made everything work. She was great! Her customer service saved this hotel from looking like they only cared about the convention and not about the loyal the Gold and Platinum guest. While I still feel that this hotel lost a lot from when they opened as a business traveler hotel, they still offer a good stay. Due to the actions of one customer service rep, I will still stay here and recommend it to colleges.
Over the past few stays they tend to cater to whatever convention they are hosting which makes things difficult for the business traveler. I hope they can find a nice approach to make a great stay for both business travelers and convention attendees.

I didn’t stay here but stopped n 4 lunch. The lobby & Champions Restaurant r very trendy w/​contemporary décor. The service was a little slow 4 not being crowded. Our server Octavia was nice. I had shrimp scampi & a Greek salad & it was delicious. The shrimp scampi was seasoned 2 perfection but small. I could hav eaten 3 – 4 more shrimp! I’ll definitely order it again though. The Greek salad was a nice size & flavorful.
This is not a place u should put on yr list 2 frequent but try it if yr staying here or @ a conference or mtg @ Georgia International Convention Center!

Southwest screwed up & I missed the last flight of the of the night. Southwest covered my night stay here & it was pleasant. Easy access using the skytrain, nice friendly staff & very clean room. It was after midnight, no restaurants in walking distance & I was starving. The front desk staff stepped away & came back with a deli sandwich & chips. Oh was I happy.

Really nice open lobby. Right on airport property and you can take monorail to airport which is great. Huge open space with bar and TVs in lobby. Staff very helpful and warm. BIG hotel. Looks recently redone. Rooms are nice and fairly sizable. It appears clean (didn’t have a black light). For being on airport it’s not too loud however I’m not sure how thick their glass is as you can hear trains nearby which means planes are coming soon at 5 am.
Book early or rates can get pretty high. Would stay here again.
Stayed here again a few times and past review sticks. Find the iron and ironing board to be top notch. This may sound absurd but I iron constantly with business travel and many hotels have total crap equipment. Impacts my experience. Also find the air conditioning to be really strong. Love that.

Thermostat emits screeching buzz when triggered by hot or low room temperatures. Bathroom fan does not work. You have to pay for any Internet service! Parking costs $ 10 for 2 hours! Seriously, this is the worst Marriott I’ve ever stayed in — it’s a rip-​off!!!

I am so very disappointed to be writing this review as the experience I was hoping for since I have been here before was the dead opposite of what we received. I want to start by saying I have used this location before for a work meeting about a year ago and based on this hot mess of a situation, will not be considering them for future meetings. Here is what happened:
I was a bit early for my flight and had some time on my hands. Since my friend was dropping me off, I thought we could catch a quick cocktail as I had about 45 minutes to spare before I needed to head into the Airport. I thought we could sit at the lobby lounge as it is updated and the time fell right at happy hour so there would be a good crowd. We arrived right at 6pm. We had to self park because despite it not being busy, there was no valet attendant for a while. We didn’t want to waste precious happy hour time on waiting so we figured since we were eating there, we could get it validated and just self park. This didn’t happen.
After no one greeted us at the restaurant, we sat ourselves (somehow we ended up in the restaurant instead of the lobby bar). When the host noticed we sat ourselves, she asked if we were having dinner. We were not and we said just drinks and she said «OK» and walked away. 10 minutes later, still no server to take our order. We were to sit there to figure out if we were getting served or not?! We got up and found our way to the lobby bar which gave us a bit more hope. Again, we sat at the cocktail lounge area which appeared to have a cocktail server around but alas, no one approached. Now all my spare time to grab a lovely glass of wine with my friend was drifting way. It is now 6:20 pm (remember, we came in at 6pm and still no service or drinks in hand). My friend gave up and went to the bar to order drinks. Around 5 minutes later, he arrived with ½ a glass of mimosa… umm…½ a glass! The bartender said they ran out of champagne so they had to go to the back to dig it out. OK. Now this is just annoying and seems a little twilight zone-​ish. When 10 additional minutes go by and the bartender STILL has not brought my entire drink out, my friend goes back up to check on it (not necessary in my opinion for the customer to chase down service). I went to the front desk to ask for a manager to alert them of the nonsense situation at this point. Oh and now it is 6:30 pm. When the bartender sees me speaking to a manager she says to my friend «what is your friend doing talking to the manager… is she talking about me»?! This was beyond a hot mess of a place with everyone involved. They charged us for both drinks and we had to chug it down because it was now 6:40 by the time I got my full drink and we only had 45 minutes to begin with. Of course, they didn’t validate and we paid $ 10 to exit the garage.
I cannot believe a simple thought was this complicated to achieve. I am definitely not happy with the lack of service we received in more areas than one at this hotel and am not comfortable recommending it for work events. Shame since it is one of the nicer hotels by the airport and we have a ton of business to provide.

Here for one night, again because of a mechanical problem with the first plane that caused me to miss the last flight connecting to my destination.
Rather than go with the hotel that Delta selected for me, I again headed to this one as I have status with Marriott. It’s much easier to get to as it’s on free SkyTrain line between the airport and the rental car center. No hassle of waiting for a shuttle bus that runs every half hour!
Quick check in and then I was in my room. Quiet, peaceful, some free wifi and then sleep. This is a standard Marriott room with a large flat screen TV, a work desk, fridge, coffee/​tea service and alarm clock. The bathroom is decently sized with plenty of towels and the usual accoutrements.
This time, I did have a chance to visit the concierge lounge which had the usual items. Scrambled and hard-​boiled eggs. A breakfast meat, bread and a toaster, yogurts, oatmeal, fresh fruits, coffee, juice and newspapers. The attendant was friendly and did a great job cleaning up dirty plates and keeping the food stocked.
When it was time to go, a short walk to the train station, one stop on the SkyTrain, and I was back at the Atlanta airport. Easy!

Stayed here for a college reunion and graduation. The property is beautiful and convenient. The rooms are nice and comfortable. The staff from the parking and luggage valet, the front desk and housekeeping were all friendly. The downside to the hotel. We had to almost beg for extra soap and towels, the health facilities were nice but that TV feed on the treadmills were awful. Pack your iPod or iPhone because that reception is choppy and constantly no signal. I’m really surprised that a hotel this size and located near the airport does not have 24 hour room service. Nice stay but really Marriott? I will return though.

I’m not exactly thrilled at the moment. I won’t bore you with the details — but I had the pleasure of finding broken glass all over the carpet of my room. This was not a fun way to spend midnight. On my way to take care of one cut, I cut myself on more glass.
Talked to the front desk, they did what they could. No way I’m staying here again though. Stuck for now.

Beautiful property, clean, neat and convenient! Really easy to get to this hotel from the airport via the Sky Train at no cost.
The guest rooms are tastefully done, clean and well equipped. The employees are friendly and attentive.

Just went to a reception for work that was fantastic at this location. Hors douevres of beef Wellington and chicken pockets and fantastic cheese and fruit platters. Wine and beer selection was also very nice. The décor of the hotel was absolutely gorgeous!

I attended a black tie masquerade ball at the Marriott Gateway and thought this was a wonderful venue for an upscale event. Although the hotel isn’t downtown it’s only a few miles away off I-​85 and it’s also connected to the airport by monorail. The hotel parking garage is tucked behind the hotel.
The event was held in a separate wing of the hotel located on the first floor. There were nearly 500 people there yet there was still enough room for multiple beverage stations, a cigar bar, a silent auction area and a photographer’s portrait studio. I wasn’t expecting much from the plated dinner but to my surprise it was actually tasty.
There wasn’t anything particularly charming about the event space (in the sense that there were no historic architectural features or breathtaking views) but it does offer an elegant, intown venue away from the congested downtown area.

The best part of this hotel is the ease of travel from the airport. Hop on the tram, get off at the next stop, and you’re there! Super easy!
The hotel was very swank and decorated nicely. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I liked how the rooms were decorated. The white wood looked very updated and modern.
There are loads of rooms for business meetings and conferences. A bar, restaurant and supposedly a Starbucks that I never saw. I don’t doubt there was one though.
I would definitely reccomend this hotel for the business traveler.
