Cloud 9 Cupcakes

I love cloud 9 but I have a major problem here: where is this cloud 9??? It’s certainly not in Lenox Square. Someone tell me pls!

I have a major sweet tooth and have always been a fan of cupcakes. One of my biggest pregnancy cravings lately has been cupcakes. I just can’t seem to eat enough cupcakes! Thank goodness I don’t have gestational diabetes!
Knowing that I’ve been craving cupcakes like crazy, my gf served them at my baby shower this past weekend. She’s told me about cloud 9 cupcakes but I never got around to trying them. I got to try the strawberry cupcake and the red velvet cupcake this past weekend. I’m a fan of both. Both cakes were super moist and delicious! The frosting to cake ratio was well balanced and the frosting wasn’t overwhelmingly sweet!
I had a few cupcakes leftover from the shower and put them in the fridge. They stayed moist even after a few days of being in the fridge! I’m definitely a fan of this place and can’t wait to try the other flavors!

I like these cupcakes alot. My favs are banana pudding, strawberry, and red velvet. I’ve tried every flavor by now and im not a fan of the cookies & cream and the sweet potatoe but all the rest are pretty good. I tend not to like too much icing on my cake which cloud 9 will have but it taste good so i will eat some off before acutally biting into the cupcake or lick the leftover off my fingers. I wish I could work there part time but I know I would turn into a piggy if I did so I will just continue to stop by once a month.

I originally visited Cloud 9 Cupcakes shortly after it opened — my experience was less than stellar and I subsequently received some flak from multiple Unilocalers who urged me to give it another try. Despite my better judgement, I decided to heed their advice while shopping at Lenox Square this past weekend. In hindsight, I should have considered the source more closely — anyone who writes a five star review of Olive Garden is clearly not of sound mind and cannot be trusted.
The cupcakes I had during my first visit were forgettable, but the cupcakes I had during my second visit were regrettable. My shopping companion and I opted for the carrot, banana cream, peanut butter cup, and cookies and cream — most of which were meager in size, disheveled looking, and drier than a popcorn fart. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, the cookies and cream cupcake was undercooked and inedible. In the end, I’m incredibly perplexed by the reviewers claiming that these are the best cupcakes they’ve ever ingested — either they don’t get out much or I lost all my taste buds in that freak microwave pizza roll accident back in the 80’s.
The long story short is that this place meets reasonable expectations for a mall food court. However, in the grand spectrum of Atlanta cupcakeries, there are far superior options available that are better executed, less expensive, and more aesthetically pleasing. In the future, I plan to keep my allegiance to said options.

How do I feel about Cloud9 cupcakes? Well to quote NPH, it’s «LEGEN…wait for it… DARY! LEGENDARY!» I haven’t had cupcakes from any other place in GA, but I have had many from very very famous bakeries from around the entire country. Sprinkles in CA, tried it. George Town Cupcakes in George Town, D. C, tried it. Some famous bakery (can’t remember it’s name) in Boston, tried it. Magnolia in NYC, tried it. Mishas, Buttercream, Royal Treatz & Cupcake Nouveau here in Miami, tried it. Its a personal goal to try a cupcake bakery every time I travel to a new place & I have to say Cloud9 has grabbed the #1 spot.
First, the staff is very friendly. The guy handing out samples was such a cool dude. Really sweet guy who helped me out with some info I needed for the train routes.
Second, the frosting!!! This is what takes the cake, or shall I say takes the cupcake for me. Their frosting is how frosting should be. SUPER creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. I’m sooooo sick of bakeries loading so much sugar in their frosting that it becomes hard & gritty. To be honest, I experienced this faux pas with Sprinkles. I was shocked that the first & most famous cupcake bakery made this common yet very preventable mistake.
Third, the cake. The cake was very moist & a little dense, but not too much. Just a little warning, since these cupcakes have been sitting out exposed to air, the cake can harden a little. Once you get it in their to go container & let it sit in there for a little while, it softens to a perfect consistency.
Now for the flavors I got. I got, salted caramel, maple bacon, banana, red velvet (best red velvet I’ve ever had), Reese’s and cookies n cream. Unfortunately, my bf dropped the bag they were in, which also contained a bottle of beer that broke & leaked into the cupcakes :(. I did salvage the cookies n cream, banana & red velvet. I tried the frosting of the others before the incident & they tasted amazing. Anyways, the banana tasted of REAL banana & not that disgusting banana extract. I recall the sample guy saying they use organic ingredients & fresh fruit. The cookies n cream was spot on & as stated above, the best red velvet cupcake I’ve ever had ever!!! So perfect there are just no words. Overall, Cloud9 makes a hell of a cupcake & is definitely worth checking out. If you’re not sure, just try a free sample. The only bad thing I can say is that they don’t have one in Miami. Please expand!!!

Not so much! Taste like diabetes in wrapping. Tasted the red velvet mini sample… was good enough to get the salted caramel. Too damn sweet-​3 bites, I’m done. Not worth the calories. On to the next.

My review is based on ordering them for a party not a one-​off cupcake at the mall.
Let me start off by saying the quality of the cupcakes is good. The quality of their service is crap.
I ordered ~ 2 dozen cupcakes for my daughters first birthday (we ordered and paid for them online). The site is sketchy at best, I wasn’t super confident that it was going to be a seamless experience based on the usability of the website. Even though they have a video posted about $ 100K grant they received from Google to grow their local business and online — wtf? PLEASE use some of the money to develop your site, you have the cash.
Back to my review, I called ahead and left a voicemail the day I placed the online order to confirm the shop received it, left all of my contact info and never received a call back. The ‘pick-​up’ day we went to get the goodies and surprise surprise… they couldn’t find our order, at least they knew we paid. But for $ 3.00 a cupcake, I wanted the flavors that I requested and they didn’t have them available. We added more cupcakes to our order and paid full price for everything — no «I’m sorry about your experience, how about a free cupcake for the b-​day kid» or «sorry for your troubles, here’s .50 measly cents off per cupcake as we scale our business»…nothing, zip, zilch.
I called to speak to a manager the following day and express my disappointment, I know it’s just cupcakes but I really liked Cloud 9 before this experience and they’re a mom and pop shop — I WANT to support them and for them to do well, even if it means paying a premium. I left all of my contact info and never got a call back to even acknowledge any of my calls.
ABSENTEE manager at the Lenox location! Use A DIFFERENT cupcake shop in Atlanta if you need to order in bulk, Cloud 9 is NOT helpful and there are tons of other great cupcake shops in Atlanta. Camicakes… Atlanta Cupcake Factory etc.

I took MARTA over to the Lenox mall last night to do some window shopping and happened to pass by this cupcake shop in the food court. I have a huge sweet tooth, so I couldn’t walk by without getting two cupcakes.
Strawberry — The strawberry cake was moist, and the strawberry cream cheese frosting was amazing. I would definitely get this cupcake again!
Salted Caramel on Chocolate — The chocolate cake was a bit on the dry side, and the frosting was a kind of bland. Overall, it was not a bad cupcake, but I wish the salted caramel taste were stronger.
They had pieces of red velvet cupcakes out for sampling. My usual cupcake at most cupcake shops is red velvet, but I passed at Cloud 9 because the sample I had was underwhelming.
It was about $ 5.50 for 2 cupcakes, which is pretty standard.

It is not an easy feat to be a cupcakerie and not get at least 4 stars. I tried the sweet potato cupcake, because it seemed like the most unique flavor.
One less-​than-​ideal cupcake transporter, one crooked cattywampus cupcake and one extra wet frosting blob and $ 3.24 later, I was able to come to my 2 star conclusion.
My cupcake looked like it had been sat on, then frosted… Wonka’s Quality Assurance Oompa Loompas must have been on another one of their smoke breaks. Such surly chimneys…
The frosting was yummy, but overly wet? Like kind of drooping?
All in all the taste was «ok.» Cool concept of a flavor.
So why only 2 stars for these minor violations? Because on my last nibble I found the prize! A chunk of egg shell! Calcium Supplement? Mmmmm Crunchy!
I would try these cupcakes again, but will request my egg shells on the side.

Amazing cupcakes. I had the salted Carmel and it was extremely moist. A little expensive but definitely worth it.
UPDATE: I went back a second time and this time the salted Carmel cupcake was made differently than my previous one. The cake was much dryer but the frosting was creamier but overloaded with salt. This time there was a little Carmel square on top which was absent the last time.
Cupcakes are a little inconsistent day to day but still good either way. Hopefully you can catch them on a good day.

These cupcakes are one of my favorites around Atlanta. I can be somewhat picky with my cupcakes, but I really have nothing to complain about here. The cakes are not too sweet, and they have the perfect texture of being not too airy nor too dense (I really hate it when a cupcake just topples over from being so airy). The frosting is also a good balance of cream cheese flavor and sugar. My favorite is their chocolate raspberry — there are real raspberries in their frosting!
The only downside is that they are a bit overpriced. The more you buy, the bigger the discount, but I bought 6 cupcakes and spent close to $ 18. =/

When I went to the food court in Lennox Mall; I saw a line of about 15 people… Kept it moving to get me some dinner. When I finished the line was still long. I said let me see whats going on… Lady gave me a sample of the cupcakes, I kept walking, 4 seconds later I turned around and got another one. I said, HUMMM, Hum these things are good, I looked at the prices and said I want a half a dozen,
No questions for me… The were the best cupcakes I have had in my entire life. Not to rich, not to sweet, frosting fluffy and good… Thats why they call it cloud 9 they take your taste buds to another level. My tab was about $ 19.00 but I did not care wanted my family to try one. And I brought them home, I said yall try one. They act like they didn’t want to try them, shucks I got the carmel salt one… Yummmmy gone,. then they were going slow again, then I took half of the keylime… They said mommy, you are eating those cupcakes like they are good… I said, if you don’t get one soon; you will not be eating any, at all. LOL
They are absolutely marvelous, faboulous and delicious!!! Honey, lets goooo !!! to Buck head. You know what? he is going to get left.
Finally, got Lennox Mall and got those cupcakes again… They were very good again… Brought home a half of a dozen.
April 2013 bought another half dozen and ate one while there. Love those cupcakes at Cloud 9.

Cloud 9 cupcakes are decent. I’ve had the strawberry, key lime, and lemon cupcakes. The strawberry has real strawberries in the batter, and the key lime and lemon are basic but tasty. The icing on all of them are the same except for different flavoring.
If I hadn’t read other reviews about this place I wouldn’t know how to describe the icing. The cake part is nice and moist and quite tasty but the icing does taste like the flavored cream cheese you put on a bagel. I actually like the cream cheese you put on a bagel. But, I like it on a bagel. This icing is quite heavy and its nothing like my revered Camicake. There is no comparison and whoever thinks Cloud 9 is better needs there taste buds checked. The cupcakes are small which isn’t a problem as I have no business getting three at a time for my own indulgence anyway.
For three cupcakes, my total was 9.42. These babies are not cheap.
I won’t say that I will not go back because some of the other flavors look tasty but I am not so sure if it will be anytime soon.

HOLY CRAP!!! ARE CUPCAKES SUPPOSED TO BE THIS GOOD??? Those were the words that escaped my lips after I had a sea salt and caramel cupcake sample. That was it, I had fully intended on going to the food court for some much needed nourishment, but the cupcakes (and the workers) were all calling my name!
I had to sit there and take my time, at $ 3 a pop I didn’t want to be rash and order just anything. I settled on the chocolate raspberry and the sea salt one for later. Man, these things are so good I can’t wait until I go back!

«I could drink this frosting,» my wife enthused. «All freaking day.» Warning: doctors do not actually recommend drinking the frosting all freaking day, although I’m happy to say that neither the frosting nor the cake itself is cloying. I tried some of her cupcake (she loves me just that much) and it was, as they say, so delicious and moist. No lie! She tells me that she wishes the cake base had some of the frosting flavor in it – she’s used to strawberry cupcakes with strawberry in the batter as well as the frosting — but it is what it is, and these are tasty.
I also ordered a Chocolate Cloud, which is made from milk, club soda, and homemade chocolate syrup. Those of you who have been up to Yankeeland may recognize this as a classic «egg cream», a label the proprietor avoids because people who haven’t heard of this beverage tend to think (understandably) that it’s made with eggs and/​or cream. Language lesson: it’s from «ekht cream», Yiddish-​English for «REAL cream». Nowadays it’s usually made with whole milk, not cream, but it’s still foamy and luscious. I’ve seen cheaper egg creams — $ 3.50 for what would be smaller than a «small» drink elsewhere in the food court seems ridiculous to me, but curiosity overcame me this once.
Disclosure: after I mentioned Unilocal reviews and confirmed that, yes, I do write them as well as read them, we got (and accepted) an offer of a free cupcake. But their usual price for a cupcake is in line with most cupcake bakeries in town, and I did pay full price for the Chocolate Cloud.

Stopped by here when I was wandering Lenox Mall. I saw people walking around with cupcakes and checked the food court.
I tried the salted caramel and the red velvet. Both were pretty good. The salted caramel was a bit too sweet with not enough salt for my taste. After a few bites I couldn’t eat any more. The red velvet was great, although it wasn’t a cream cheese frosting but still yummy.
You can really taste the butter in everything, and it was a bit difficult to wash the frosting off my hands afterwards.
Also a little pricey but it’s Lenox!

Since my first review, I’ve tried several flavors (red velvet, cookie dough, salted caramel, and banana pudding), and omg they’re all so good. I can’t even begin to describe how perfect Cloud 9’s cupcakes are. ALWAYS moist and fluffy, ALWAYS delicious, and ALWAYS just the right amount of frosting!
My absolute favorite is hands-​down the banana pudding one. It’s just… yeah, perfect. I hope they keep this as a permanent flavor, because seriously, YUM.
The owner is amazing as well — very friendly and nice, and loves to chat with the customers. I hope this cupcake place can stay friendly and awesome despite being in the middle of hustling-​bustling Lenox Mall. :) Love this place!

Stop it. Like now. Frozen yogurt & cupcakes? PLUS the cuppies are fresh fresh fresh. By far my fav cupcake spot that I’ve found in a WHILE. Muy impressed with this cupcake spot.
