Icebox Cryotherapy

WOW! I was skeptical going in, especially for someone who HATES the cold. But I felt so good the rest of the day… I had this crazy energy! I know it is good for recovery, yet I think I’ll go before a workout — if I can commit to a pack deal.

There is something magical about stepping into the cryo chamber for the first time. Will you be transported to another galaxy? Will you wake up 100 years in the future? Will your body turn to ice and shatter with the slightest contact? Is it magic? Or witchcraft? All of theses questions were running through my mind my first trip into the cryo chamber. As the cool gas started to fill the chamber I felt my body relax, I felt the tightness in my muscles release and yes, I felt cold. When I stepped out of the chamber I felt revitalized, my muscles were no longer sore. I was alert and ready to take on the rest of my day. That night I slept like a baby. Yes, Cryotherapy is magic. I have been a loyal customer for the last few years and will continue to use Icebox for my recovery needs. The staff is fantastic and will help keep your mind off the cold. I could not be happier with Icebox Cryotherapy!

Icebox is absolutely wonderful in terms of its product, ambiance, and staff. I have been «cryo-​ing» 4 – 5 days a week since 2013. In 2014, I took a six month hiatus from it. During that time, I had a case of shoulder tendinitis that progressively got worse to the point that I seriously thought it may had been a small masked tear. However, within weeks of resuming cryo, this shoulder tendinitis has remained at ease and continues to do so along with the many other aches and pains that accompany high volume, high intensity training required in competitive Crossfit. Aside from the significant health benefits of cryo, Alia and her staff are incredible. I look forward to my daily trip up to Buckhead from Old Fourth Ward in downtown even knowing that I may have to fight traffic just to see their lovely faces. They have been so supportive of my teammates and I professionally and personally over the years. Also, there is something about the ambiance of the place that is just so enticing to want to come back. Hands down one of the best local businesses in the ATL!

This is a highly effective form of recovery for anyone active fitness nut! I can stumble into this place with soreness like I’ve never felt before and walk out with a renewed body that is ready to take exercise again. The literal amount of time for recovering your body from its breakdown is less, which allows more time to do what you love in or out of the gym. The staff is also very friendly and will great you by name at the door. Check it out!

As a competitive Crossfitter and Powerlifter, I find cryotherapy a must in my recovery. It aids me on my two days and active recovery to bounce back ready attack many more workouts. I also have trouble sleeping some days due to my high intensity workouts and cryotherapy helps me sleep through the night feeling better the next day. The Best! They have awesome people there to, love them!!!

As a gym owner I would recommend this to all of my clients. It keeps me going every week in my training at at my peak ability. If you haven’t yet tried them out you need to!

I can feel it helping with my foot/​ankle pain. In fact, it’s the only thing that has really worked. I can walk around barefoot now. The staff is very friendly, the owner is very kind and welcoming. Every business should run like this. I’m signing up for their monthly package soon. I hope they do well.

I have been a client of Icebox cryotherapy off and on for nearly 3 years. In fact, it was the owner of Icebox that found the location in Dallas for me to utilize when I lived in TX. Whole body cryotherapy is used by me for relief of peripheral nerve pain associated with chronic Lyme disease. Some other benefits I have are an immediate surge of energy and endorphins and a renewed vitality seen just after a few sessions. The staff at Icebox is always helpful and kind, I never feel intimidated or out of place given that many clients are very physically fit. In fact, I feel especially cared for with my delicate health issues. I have a baby and the sweet ladies always offer to hold him and play with him so that I can get a session in. That’s remarkable customer service! The studio space is clean and airy, very spa like. I am a modest person and the privacy offered in the private changing rooms and the procedures in and out of the machine is very professional. Without a doubt it is a cold 3 minutes, but you can do anything for 3 minutes! I promise the benefits are worth it. After your first session you will be hooked!

Friendly staff and VERY useful for the rigorous fitness nut! Think ice bath (for those of you who played college sports know what I’m talking about) but without the water. Also, 3 min. vs. 20 min. in an ice bath. You get used to the cold and fellas will have fun debating going into the icebox with their underwear on or «sock» their junk (haha I strongly recommend this method).
Also, see Dr. Polivka for some dry needling. Long story short, it’s like acupuncture but where the needle is moved around to stimulate the muscle and help release the tension in it. Feels freeeaaaky but works wonders (STRONGLY recommend getting this done if you’ve had nagging pain for a long period of time and don’t know how to get rid of it).

Clean environ, friendly staff and a treatment ahead of its time. While I need to schedule more sessions to fully suss out my feeling on the effectiveness of this treatment I will say that it totally slayed a major jet lag issue I had been having and had an immediate profound relaxing effect. I was also pleasantly surprised at the comfort of the treatment. I felt only slightly cold.
