Showcase Photo & Video

Went in seeking some advise and a filter for my 70 – 200. Nice showroom with everything you need. I found the staff to be both friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely come back next time I need photo/​video gear…

It went to this store after it was highly recommended by the people fixing my camera. Have you ever run into sales nerdy sales person that you’d love to punch in the throat? The guy who seemed very very knowledgeable no doubt. It seemed to me that because I was asking about lower end cameras he acted and treated me like I was low class and the equipment was beneath his knowledge base. Never took out any of the cameras I was interested in to show me how the felt or worked. Shoot I could go to Best Buy or Walmart and handle the merchandise. He then looked at a lady to my left asked me to wait a minute and then never came back. That’s dick costumer service. Now as far as to what they have available it’s well stocked tons of gear do you research go there then point and shoot. I’m sure there are better sales people there. I’ll do my research and buy on line from Amazon

I decided to stop by their location during my last visit to Atlanta. I was impressed by how many employees were present and that each had their own specialty. They were incredibly helpful and even stayed open late to help assist me (Mike Quinn). If you are looking for knowledgeable and personal service, I recommend stopping by their location.

Im shocked to see literally any bad reviews on here but then again I guess everyone has their own personal experience. Luckily I found my perfect person (JULIE) to give me amazing customer service every time, all the time. My dad first met her and started buying me equipment from here years ago and now she knows me buy name at lets just say I never leave without paying a great price. But then again that may be combination of luck and on my end consistent sales. Either way I’ve NEVER seen Julie give anyoneee customer service thats less than completely exceptional. Their prices are really not that crazy ESPECIALLY on cameras!

Unless you a regular there, you may have to scream to get assistance, but once someone finally assists you, their equipment knowledge base is pretty decent, so it balances out the experience for you to actually pay a pretty penny for a piece of equipment you know will perform to your standards (or beyond)…

I bought a Tamron lens here. The salesman convinced me it was a good deal so I bought it. He was all nice when he was selling the lens to me, happy, helpful and answered all my questions. Once he handed me the receipt, he got all cold and abrupt, I am not kidding. I didn’t have a good feeling about my purchase so when i got home, I got online and found the exact same lens for a lot cheaper. I went back to the store and returned it. The lady that did the refund had attitude. WHY? I did not have a good experience here and won’t come back.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, except for Eva. I have done a lot of business, and spent a lot of money ($$thousands) on cameras/​lenses over the years at Showcase. Had some problems with this store off and on but they are the only place that has the high end equipment.
4÷29÷15 wife purchased a P&S Nikon S6900 cost over $ 200. I’m the professional photographer, she likes P&S to carry in her purse or pocket. Got home, charged battery, found camera was not working properly from flash, focusing, etc… and she had to pull battery out twice to reboot when she got the «black screen of death».
Took it back next morning — I wish I had salesman name — he was around 5’10−6′, blond/​brown hair… immediately started blaming us… it must be us. something we are doing. No way — I’m a professional and wife has been using P&S for years. He finally agreed to reimburse me. Never once tried to check or test the camera — which is the logical step. When asking about higher end P&S, attitude negative towards me. This is not how you treat customers.
Before I left I was talking to sales lady Eva about my experience, she took the time to trouble shoot and — guess what — the camera was defective. Since wife liked the feel and what camera offered, I purchased a 2^nd S6900 from Eva — caught heck from wife for not talking to store owner/​manager and for giving them our money.
Eva thank you for your level of customer service… otherwise Showcase you need some training on your floor with the sale staff, and put Eva in charge of training, you have a goldmine in her.
I will give my future business to B&H…we need some competition in Atlanta to show Showcase how to do business with customers and beat their pricing.

I’ve spent thousands of dollars here, wanting to be a support of local businesses, but I’ve decided I’d rather shop online. It’s cheaper and I don’t have to hassle with some salespeople who are kind of jerks, items that are never in stock, a return policy that’s kind of a scam, and no customer support. It’s a bummer they don’t have much competition in Atlanta.

Rude salesman. I asked if he wanted my address as I shop there a good amount and he said «it hardly seems worth it for such a small purchase.» It was about $ 90. I was going to return later to buy a camera bag for about $ 350 and I certainly will not now. And I won’t go back for any $ 90 items either. It was the tall guy with the blond hair.

It’s refreshing to see a brick and mortar camera store that’s still in business! They”re the only place which sells higher end DSLRs, tripods, and «professional» level equipment. I’d highly recommend them for anyone wanting to get into photography. They will listen to your needs and won’t push you on one particular brand. I went there recently to get a new camera strap and invest in a good tripod. They showed me a tripod/​head combo that’s stable enough to hold a heavy DSLR with telephoto lens, and wound up being cheaper then the tripods I was first looking at online. When looking at apples to apples items, I see that they have the exact same prices as the big online photo retailers (so you may or may not be paying more on sales tax vs shipping). Cameras and tripods are one of those items that are good to see and test in person before buying, and I can’t recommend enough giving stores like this your support.
PS, I also notice quite a few reviews on here are dated. It’s amazing how quickly film processing has died. Some aspects of film that I enjoyed over digital are virtually gone now (dynamic range being a major one)…so I’m not surprised that film development is extremely niche now. At this point, if you want a good print, you have to get your own dark room equipment. and chemicals. It might still be good for photographers and geeks to do some film development (there is something about development that’s more hands on learning of contrast range), but there’s no longer much of any advantage with film from a technical standpoint. The only point I can think of is archiving: whether a film will deteriorate or particular digital format will no longer be supported to be decoded.

I rented a film for a project that I was shooting in Atlanta. Nice staff and had no problems.

If you don’t mind paying the prices, they do have more in stock than other places, but again, their prices are pretty high.
They’re not open on Sundays… Big problem for anyone who works in the industry.
And finally, their return policy is terrible. Essentially you can’t return anything without paying a percentage fee.
Skip it and Amazon the stuff you need. It’s sad that local brick and mortar stores treat people poorly.

I have a love hate relationship with this store for several reasons. I spent over $ 3,500 there with my Nikon d800 camera body purchase, yet they STILL have not gotten back with me about my $ 10 battery door cover for my Nikon d80, which broke many months ago and I special ordered through Showcase. The battery door cover was special ordered at least 6 months ago, possibly longer. I was better off going on eBay and finding the battery door cover there — and for less money. Showcase strikes me as very disorganized when it comes to keeping up with special orders — it’s as if one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing. Yes, they do try, but not hard enough when it comes to staying organized. Second, there’s just no contest when it comes to price. If you want to save money, there are places you can shop online for much less.

I purchased a new camera as a Christmas gift. When opened, there was no battery charger. I was told it would be shipped to me. After 3 days I called in to get a tracking number and was told I should call back since they are closed for inventory. No offer to help me resolve.
I tried to support a local business and this is my reward.

I’ve used this place on and off since college for supplies, cameras, and film developing. I’ve never felt like they were being condescending to me, but then again I always do my research and pretty much know what I want to buy before I get there. When I have had questions though, the sales staff have always been very thorough.
One sore spot for me though, they are so expensive for developing film! They also can have trouble developing digital pics so that they are not pixelated so I actually use CVS now — easy, way cheaper, and fast!

Even though I’ve had spotty service here in the past, my past few visits have been pretty good. They do slide service as well, for those of us old schoolers still left. also, this is a great solution to troubleshoot your video issues when they come up.

Good shop for pros, but I’ve seen them be pretty shitty to people with novice questions looking for entry level gear, including my sister.
I would advise people to start at Best Buy or Wolf if you are just getting started and reserve Showcase for once you get into D-​SLR or film.

It has the best selection in the Atlanta area, but it is the most expensive. The clerks can be attentive and helpful, but if you come during the Saturday crush, good luck getting one. So come on a weekday if you need real attention. (A side note: several of the clerks originally came from my favorite store. There probably is more commission in this madhouse than the super personal attention of the other.)
Despite all that, sometimes buying a camera is just a commodity purchase — you know what you want; They have it in stock; and all you really need is someone to check you out. Last Saturday after trying my favorite store and the one lupine closer to home that I despise, I drove the thirty miles to Showcase and bought myself a D7000. Even in the Saturday crush they treated me well. Their customer base runs all the way from professional to «Why do I need to take off the lens cap?» So I may have been the easiest customer they had all day.
A nice little touch: Wednesday I received a «Thank You» card from them. Don’t expect that at the mall camera store.

I love getting to come here and browse around all of the great stuff they have here for pros and amateurs alike. While shopping online may be easy, it’s nice to get to hold that camera body in your hands or see how light that tripod is before you and your wallet agree to take the plunge. They will even price-​match online stores (think B&H) which makes them even better!
The staff is also very friendly. Not to the point of Best Buy annoying (you know who you are, guy who circles the aisles and asks me 20 times in a row if I need help), but not absent either. They know their stuff and don’t try to push anything on you that you don’t want or need. They won’t even push the more expensive equipment on you. Huge plus because when you need a polarizer and there’s a $ 50 one and a $ 300 one that both generally do the same thing… it’s nice that the guy talking to you can admit that if you’re not pro, you don’t need to shell out an extra $ 250.
The canvas prints here are very high quality from what I’ve seen hanging in the store… tempting since the prices are really great. Their standard photo prints are also incredible… yes, I stalked the back area and looked at people photos that were sitting out. Call me creepy, but I wanted to see what kind of quality we were talking about in case I need to get some larger photos printed.
It’s one of the last shops standing, but they certainly don’t act like the world is ending because of the internet. I’m happy to keep coming back and buy from here; now if only they could figure out a magic ramp to take you into their parking lot because drivers on Cheshire Bridge suck.

Best place to get professional film developing in Atlanta. 1hr c-​41 service for $ 4! YES! No extra $$$ for cross processing! YES! Weekend Hours! YES! Overnight drop box! YES!
Only thing that sucks is there location on Cheshire Bridge. I hate that part of town since there’s so much traffic, but hey Atlanta is a traffic town so that’s not their fault.
I think they send out their slide processing to E6 Lab, but that’s ok. At least I don’t have to go to more than one lab. Everything is done professionally and is always done on time. That’s more than I can say for some labs in town.
Highly recommended!

It has been 15 years since last time I was at Showcase. I don’t remember much of how inside looked like but it was great to see their service is still top notch as I remembered.
They have just about everything you can think of for photography stuff. Cameras (of course), lighting euqip, paper, ink, presentations… you name it, they have it.
For my line of work I have to get some professional prints done and I have been trying out photo labs left and right. I think I just hit the jackpot.
The print manager Tracy was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. She answered every concern I had down to the last detail, and even test-​printed a copy of my photo for me and to see how I liked it. She even helped out making my prints looking absolutely stunning! Now, that is customer service.
The camera department sales folks were very friendly and helpful as well. Danny was very nice and of course, knowledgeable about the camera I was referring to! Wow, I felt like in photography heaven (the little photo nerd in me) and I was very impressed.
A+ They will get my business from now on.
