Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint

After 2 recent visits, the staff has been borderline hostile taking my order. The first visit, I had to get their attention while one appeared to be napping and the other was busy playing with her phone. On this visit, there are no menus in sight and the person taking my order is being very impatient while I guess what’s on the menu.
On both visits, the forks and knives have been empty as have the cheese shakers.
Won’t be back for a third visit.

This is one of my favorite pizza places, ever. Not all Uncle Maddio’s locations are the same though, this one tops the list. The food is consistent and the service excellent! I usually call in for a vegan pizza (whole wheat crust, vegan cheese, tofu and lots of veggies). Sometimes they mess up, but they always make it up with exceptional customer service. I highly recommend this place!

Delicious pizza served with love! Many fresh items to add and all of them look yummy! I ordered the black & Bleu with grilled steak, Bleu cheese and balsamic dressing. Loved it and would recommend trying it. Higher priced than I would regularly spend, but it’s conveniently located to work. Next time I’ll dine in to get the full experience:))

Wanted some pizza that wasn’t Pizza Hut. DOMINOS, or Papa John. I have only thirty minutes for lunch and wanted to call it in but they didn’t answer the phone. Decided to take a chance and just walk in to order. I ordered The Big Maxx for my co worker and the Steak and Blue for myself. They put butter on the dough. That’s always a good sign. Next they added the sauce, steak, blue cheese, spinach and balsamic sauce and whatever else. I was back to my desk within 20 minutes of leaving.
I’m so shame to say I dived into this pie right away. The taste was magnificent and not your ordinary pizza. The flavors blended so well and it was melt in your mouth good. California Pizza Kitchen who?

Has great personal pizzas and the staff is ALWAYS great. For the person that wished it was a sports bar that he could listen to the soccer match. I’m sorry, but there are half a dozen near by places for that.

It’s unbelievable that 2 employees could not deal with three customers in a quick and efficient manner. I arrived extremely hungry craving for a Mediterranean Flopwich and left 10min later empty handed with a headache. The person attending me not only missed to communicate that they needed to make more toppings for he Mediterranean, she left me hanging and took care of another customer. Had I known the issue with the toppings, I would’ve changed my order. When eventually they let me know I said OK I’m going to have a salad (thought to eat it while the other staff member finished preparing the toppings). After repeating my order twice I realized she was not going to start anything for me until she was done with the other customer, in the meantime her co-​worker disappeared in the kitchen and there was another customer waiting.
Uncle Maddio, if you are going to have under-​staffed franchises the least you could do is prepare the food in advance. We go to your place knowing it might take longer than a regular fast food restaurant due to the baking process, but on top of that you make us wait double time and you don’t train your staff to communicate clearly to the customer. In the end, Chipotle got my money. They delivered good quality food, with good customer service. I didn’t have to ask twice, and all in less than 3 min. Yay!

Good fast food type pizza. Friendly staff. Good prices. Good lunch special. Better than your pie.

I think Uncle Maddio’s and I think trivia night. But I came here just to pick up some pizza to go for a simple dinner at home.
The process is simple:
Pick your crust (wheat or traditional)
Pick your sauce (tomato basil, herb pesto, spicy buffalo, garlic olive oil, zesty tomato BBQ and buttermilk ranch) and
Pick your toppings and cheese (refer to picture of menu toppings).
They bake it for you and voila, you’re good to go. I had NO idea how to build my own pizza so I asked my server for advice. She was super helpful, and suggested a mix of the pesto sauce with their garlic olive oil instead of the traditional tomato sauce. She let me taste the sauce, which was phenomenal, but I was still skeptical. I also included some of her favorite toppings, including the spicy chicken sausage, meaty portobello mushrooms and spinach.
I was wary at the non-​traditional look of my pizza, but I dug in because I was starving. And YES the pizza was amazing. I downed all 8 slices without even realizing how much I ate (so much for saving half for lunch the next day).
Can’t go wrong with a quick bite at Uncle Maddio’s for pizza. Although there is a topping limit on the pizza, sometimes too many toppings can overcomplicate the flavors. For the price and the full belly I had at the end of my meal, I’ll have to say it was well worth the chance I took on a nontraditional pizza.

The food is fresh & delicious. Made to order with a fantastic variety of choices. Great value. We have been several times & look forward to going back soon.
Perhaps the most outstanding service I have experienced. The manager, Brian, was personable going above and beyond to exceed our expectations. His team was fantastic as well.

Great place with great customer service. I got the Southwest Baja and it was excellent. Chipotle sauce really sets the flavor for this pie. Helps with consuming the jalapenos too. A bit spicy but delicious. Get it on the original crust and make sure you get the black bean sauce on it. They were out when I visited. Probably would’ve been even more amazing. Location not so good but easy to get to. Friendly atmosphere. Will visit again soon.

Dunwoody-​Perimeter location rocks! Great customer service every time I go! Fast service and the pizzas are DELISH!

I love Uncle Maddio’s. I eat lunch here at least once a week and I’ve never been disappointed. I love the variety and, as a vegetarian, my husband and I really appreciate that they have so many options for us. Knowing that we can add tofu or black bean salsa to our pizza’s makes this a favorite lunch place for sure.

Didn’t get to eat here today. First time visiting. The girl working there was doing great, by putting on new gloves. then someone hands her the phone while she is putting on the gloves. She’s holding it with her ear and shoulder. Then when she hands up she holds the phone opens up her back pocket and puts the phone in it. then she starts making the other people’s pizza. Ewwwwwww! That’s so gross. I had to leave. Just wash your hands it makes life easier. It smelled great though

As a mother to a young child, it doesn’t get much better than Uncle Maddio’s. She gets what she wants, I get what I want. And the prices are good. They also serve beer and wine.
There are TVs and WiFi, although the wifi wasn’t working for me for some reason.
I hope to see more UM’s in Atlanta. I’d love if there were one near my house.

This is a fun, assembly line concept. The food is decent because its fresh. I felt like the quality was pretty good. I has the portobello mushroom pizza with pesto and thought it was yummy. The breadsticks were sort of plain though but not bad.
I signed up for their email specials and got an email saying to bring and show a special on my phone. It was supposed to be for a wristband (not sure what the wristband does) but the staff thought it was for the Fathers day special which was a large pizza and salad and dessert. I was just there for lunch and didn’t need all of that. They are new and perhaps confused but they were VERY nice. I emailed customer service and got a prompt (within the hour) response back with an apology and an offer of a free pizza coupon. I will definitely be back just based on the good customer service. And maybe even get my wristband one day.

This location just list another star from me. The service here is never stellar, the Toco Hills location is way better.
They have TVs but you’re not allowed to listen to them. I came in to watch USA play in the World Cup but the manager refused to put up the sound in one corner. There was never more than two people in the restaurant. I was told it had to be on mute. This lack of common sense is either the result of poor store management or a corporate culture of disempowerment of their manager to honor a simple request of a customer. By the way USA lost to Belgium, I blame Uncle Maddio’s!

Uncle Maddio’s has pretty decent pizza, but I always seem to have customer service issues when I eat at any of their locations. I tried this Dunwoody location for the first time (located in the Walmart plaza), and again had less-​than-​stellar service. The pizza maker didn’t seem very happy when we hesitated about our toppings (and there was no line).
We also ordered breadsticks, but they didn’t come out well after our pizzas. And they were so oversalted, we could barely touch them. At least they did comp some cannoli.
They do have a pretty nice loyalty program. You get a free pizza every 10 times dining there, and you get a free pizza as soon as you sign up for the program.

So I’d been looking at the options for vegan pizza in ATL and a rogue site said the Uncle Maddios closer to midtown had vegan options. I looked at the website and saw this location — way closer to me!
So I went during lunch today. ordering is the hardest part — their toppings aren’t all together. So try to know what you want from the menu.
I got an individual with vegan cheese (online said Daiya but it didn’t seem like daiya to me) grilled tofu (more scrambled with seasoning than grilled), zuccini, broccoli, portabello and cilantro.
it was 8 bucks and it was good! it took a little longer to order and cook than I’d have liked for take out but I’m sure I could call ahead next time.
All-​in-​all a good spot with better than decent vegan pizza!

Uncle Maddio’s is an interesting concept. As the first reviewer noted, it’s similar to a Subway in that you choose a crust (white or wheat), one of six sauces, then toppings from a huge selection of fresh ingredients with several vegetarian options — and for the health conscious they use organic spinach/​field greens and have gluten free options AND the chicken they use is free-​range. Or if you’re too lazy to build your own, there are about a dozen other options for pre-​configured pies, sandwiches or salads. Choose a drink or any sides and/​or appetizers and sit in the well-​maintained, clean dining room. Your food appears a few minutes later. The staff were very efficient and friendly, yelling «Ciao Maddio’s!» (similar to «Welcome to Moe’s!») when people enter.
I went during lunch yesterday with a fairly large group of about 10 — half ordered pizzas and others ordered salads or sandwiches. The sandwiches were huge, filled with meats and melted cheese. Someone ordered a huge salad (didn’t see it on the online menu) that had rolled-​deli meats that looked delicious, with huge portions. Since it was our first visit, I went in on three 12″ pre-​configured pies with two others (it was more than we could eat — we ended up taking several slices back to work) The pies were around $ 13 each and we could easily have done the same thing with 9″ pies and been full. From the three that we ordered (all with wheat crust):
Portobello Pesto: (herb pesto sauce, mozzarella, portabella and white mushrooms, feta cheese, Roma tomatoes and fresh basil) — this was perhaps the weakest of the three. The portabellas had little of their usual distinctive flavor and the button mushrooms needed a bit more cook. The pesto was also lacking in some of the punch you normally find in a pesto pizza — it may have just needed a bit more coverage — hard to say. We ended up with leftovers of this pie.
Jamaican Jerk: (tomato-​basil sauce, mozzarella, grilled jerked, free-​range chicken, red onions, green peppers, pineapples and cilantro) — this was a very good pie with plenty of chicken and fresh pineapple. I wish the chicken had a bit more jerk seasoning but that’s typical — I prefer the strong punch you get from getting the real thing at Caribbean restaurants. The fresh red onion gave this pizza a distinctive texture and flavor so while I normally forgo onions at lunch (to save my coworkers), I would recommend you leave them on this pie or get something different. The pineapple provides just a bit of sweetness and acid to off-​set the allspice in the jerk. We all liked this pie.
Steak & Blue: (olive oil, mozzarella, blue cheese crumbles, grilled all natural angus steak, Roma tomatoes, garlic, spinach, fresh basil and balsamic glaze) — for this a single word — WOW! I knew this was going to be something special when they started slathering a large handful of oiled garlic on the crust. The combination of the garlic, grilled steak and blue cheese provides that heady aroma and flavor you sometimes get with the perfect steak. The balsamic glaze drizzled on top adds just the right amount of acid and sweetness to balance the fats of the cheese and meat. Perfection! This pie reminds me of the garlic, gorgonzola, pancetta and sliced new potato pie we made at the ill fated Mi Spia in Park Place. The unlikely combination has a synergistic effect that satisfies so many different sensations with each bite.
In general I liked the experience, staff and environment. It seems like a good place to bring a group, although with the counter ordering your first member may be finished before the last member gets his/​her food, but that’s fairly typical at Subway or other, similar concepts. Drink refills are free at the help-​yourself counter and there’s plenty of grated cheese, red pepper flakes and oregano in shakers if you’re so inclined. I think that even with 10 people we were in-​and-​out in less than an hour. I believe the other locations server beer — none here yet but don’t let that stop you. I think this will location (it’s near the Walmart on Ashford-​Dunwoody where Border’s Books used to be) will be added to our regular lunch rotation.
