Specialties
Although we specialize in local seafood and offer at least two varieties of fresh fish every night, our menu also features chicken, pork and Sterling Silver beef.
We make all our salad dressings, sauces and desserts in house and have a great children’s menu loaded with fun games and mosquito facts.
Thursday nights are sushi nights at Amos Mosquito’s. We offer a full menu of fresh, made to order sushi in addition to our regular menu.
Amos has a full bar and a wonderful, reasonably priced wine list.
History
Established in 1999.
Knock, knock.
Who’s there?
Amos.
Amos who?
A mosquito!
Not very funny, but it really is where we got our name. We had a picturesque, waterfront location. We had a unique, outdoorsy décor theme. We had a good start on a tasty menu. And, we had a long list of really bad names for a restaurant.
In the fall of 1998 Hallock Cooper, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, decided to open a restaurant with the help of her parents Pam and Buddy Cooper and a few old family friends. They found a charming almost turnkey location on the Morehead City waterfront and in April of 1999 Amos Mosquito’s Swampside Café opened for business.
In April 2012 they welcomed Luke Maguire as Executive Chef. Luke came to Amos Mosquito’s from the Wilson Country Club and has spent the past 14 years working in some of the finest restaurants in Eastern North Carolina. He specializes in modern American cuisine with a southern flair and enjoys cooking with local, sustainable ingredients.
