A Simple Move

NOT Professional! We moved within in the Denver metro area and A Simple Move was recommended by one of our neighbors so we gave them a try. They took 5+ x hours longer than they quoted, their super old truck broke down on the way to our move, they caused $ 1000’s of dollars of damage to our furniture and they put well marked boxes in the wrong rooms (i.e. Master Bedroom ended up in the basement and garage boxes were in the Master bedroom!) When we called to complain and figure out a resolution and they NEVER returned our calls. This place should be out of business! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH A SIMPLE MOVE!

We bought a house so we’re living at our parents for a while. We had used Vosco moving company to move to our parents, took them 7 hours. A simple move moved us from Littleton to Aurora (45 minute drive) in 3.5 hours including drive time. They were AMAZING. Not one thing broken or damaged. Highly recommend them!!!

I hired A Simple Move to move from Denver to Boulder county. I signed up for 3 guys for a reasonable hourly rate. The 3^rd guy was an hour late with no explanation. The other 2 guys worked very hard to get my items out of my 3^rd story apartment. Since I was moving out of the metro area, they said they would waive the extra fee for longer distance moves since the 3^rd guy was so late. When they were all done, they said they would actually have to charge me half of the flat rate for longer moves instead.
After settling in, I found out 2 items were broken and un-​repairable (a tv stand and an office chair). When I tried to file a claim, I was told I only had 48 hours to file it, so sorry. Even an apology would’ve been nice. There was also one spot on my newly painted walls that was chipped after the move.
One of the guys kept joking about how much tip I was going to give them, which made me uncomfortable. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 was because the first 2 guys worked very hard from start to finish.
Another good tip for other customers is they give you a window for when they’ll arrive, so if you need a specific start time, don’t got with this company.

A Simple Move did a wonderful job moving my family from Boulder to Louisville. The guys were very respectful to our belongings and to us. Everything went great and with no problems what so ever. We have 3 kids under the age of five and to my surprise the stress wasn’t there at all, thanks to the guys who really worked hard to make this as smooth as possible. Thank you A Simple Move!

A simple move was supposed to be arrived at noon today. Their crew didn’t show up or give me a call.
I called their office several times and left three voice mails. After one hour, one of crew members called me to let me know that they are gonna be late. It was already one hour delayed.
Just one phone call at noon could prevent the drama today. A simple move needs to get disciplined and keep the commitment they made to their customers.

We hired these guys about a month in advance and the day of our move was almost a disaster. My pregnant girlfriend showed up at our storage unit and called the company at 10, they said that they needed to call back. There was some story about a break in and that they were on their way. At 11 they called back and said they would be an hour and a half. Duane the guy in charge kept pushing the time back and 4 hours and 15 minutes later they showed up. The movers that came were very professional and did an awesome job. Their names were Gabriel and Alex and we couldn’t have gotten better people to do the job. This place has good employees but shitty management. If you dont mind waiting around all day while being dicked around by Duane then call this place.

I have to be honest, I did not use them for my move, BUT I would like to take a moment to tell you how impressed I am with them. On a random Saturday at around noon, I found out that there was a very good possibility that the other movers I had hired were not going to show up. As you know, moving is stressful enough, and then to have movers fall through made me want to stab myself. I called A Simple Move and without hesitation he revived my hope in humanity. He guaranteed that they would rescue me, but it would be late in the day. Being a bit skiddish, I was hopeful, and can I say that this group of guys had amazing communication with me and from the very first interaction. My original movers did finally show, and I have to say, I was disappointed because I wanted to give my dollars to the amazing team of A Simple Move. My next move will be with them, without a doubt!!!

Just completed my move with these guys and my wife and I couldn’t have been happier. They arrived on time on a rainy Sunday, they charged only for the amount of time they worked and didn’t try and round up an hour. They got the job done and I was impressed with how nice they were.
If you have Alex, Stan, Brandon or Nate you’ll be in good hands. Thanks again guys.

I used the movers on April 11, 2014. I never received a confirmation call despite my calling the day before. The movers were two hours late and the owner was not really caring about my time. What should’ve been «a simple move» was a total disaster!
I had all of my boxes loaded in the garage and all furniture was ready to go. Thus should’ve been a few hour move at best. It lasted six hours which was ridiculous! I had damage to multiple platters and plates, my headboard according to the owner «D» just fell over and the legs fell off, there is a large rip in my sectional sofa as well as the leg was broken on the lounge chair part. When I called the owner told me to submit an email. Which I did that very second along with pictures of the damaged sectional. A couple days later I called to ask if the email had been received and the owners response was yes and I’m considering my reply. Well, today I received an email and he states he will repair nothing. He says:
I’ve read your claim and have examined your photos several times. With the headboard, we do not cover particle board, it collapsed, with no fault of our own, as I explained immediately when it happened.
With the dishes, the contract clearly states that we do not cover items packed by owner. The reason for this, is that we did not see the condition or technique used to pack these items. It was also my observation that the boxes were over packed and rattled a lot as if there was a shortage of packing paper inside them.
Finally on the couch, that was loaded by me and unloaded by me; they were covered by multiple blankets and flipped one on top another with no other items on them. Despite the obvious pre-​existing wear and tear on the couches, my crew and I handled them very carefully and professionally. At no time did the crew cause the damage to any parts of the couch. It was also noted that the damage isn’t consistent with typical moving damage; this was noted by the type of tear as well as the location of the tear.

I would never use this company again! I have moved several times and never incurred damage or the lack of caring I did with this company!

I called this company to help schedule a move. We had to hire movers because our friends flaked on us at the last minute. Everything was pretty good until the guy I talked to quoted me a pretty high price for moving a small two bedroom apartment. I told him I wanted to just call a couple other places, and his demeanor changed completely. He told me «Oh well in that case I’m actually unavailable to do this move.» I was flabbergasted. Not sure if this is how the company does business normally, or just one bad apple, but first impressions mean a lot to me when I’m considering giving my money to a business, and that was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. You don’t just get my business because I’m desperate. You have to earn it.
Oh, by the way, I found another company that did it for 40% less than they were quoting me.

Please do yourself a favor and NEVER use this moving company.
Not only did the movers show up 2 hours later than the timeframe provided, but the cost of the damage they caused to the floors, walls, and furniture exceeded the overall cost of the move. When we addressed the damage with the movers at the end of the move, they told us to call the company and leave a message in order to make a formal claim (a process which we were later told was incorrect). Despite numerous calls and messages to the company, we received no response. It took disputing the charge with the credit card company in order to get A Simple Move on the phone. The owner denied receiving the previous calls and had been told by the movers that there had been no issues with the move.
With the credit card company on the phone, the owner agreed to a nominal refund, with the understanding that we would discuss a more meaningful refund after sending pictures of the damage. It has been 5 months since the move and we have yet to see another penny despite clear evidence of the damage within the photos and repair quotes from contractors.
This is only the second review I’ve ever written, but feel compelled to warn others about this company. Please believe me when I say, it’s not worth the money, time or energy!

Alex and Aaron (plus another guy who was good, too) were awesome. They were right on time to get my stuff packed and moved. Everything was packed well, nothing broke, and the speed was incredible! Only minor complaints were I didn’t get a confirmation call and they tilted the litter box and it got kinda messy.
I will definitely use them again in the future!

We had a great experience with A Simple Move. We hired them with a week’s notice for a move between Lafayette and Denver. Alex and Aaron helped us out and did a terrific job! They were on time, efficient, packed our furniture really well, and were just great to work with. They were polite and friendly, and amazingly strong!
Nothing was damaged during the move, and they made sure to have us check the truck afterwards to make sure they didn’t forget anything. Hiring them was absolutely worth it. Their rates are very reasonable. Would recommend them for sure to anyone.

They were prompt, professional and efficient. Edwin and James did a great job and even did a couple extra things so my 70 year old father didn’t have to do it! Thanks guys for such an awesome job!

Dwayne, Tyrrell, James, and Trey came in on short notice and got things done with speed, professionalism, and care. The team went out of their way to make stops, put items into storage, and accomodate wherever and however possible.
The service and the price were excellent.
I will call A Simple Move for my next move and I recommend them highly.

We recently used A Simple Move, and I was VERY pleased with the service we received, great guys and hard workers. I’ve never seen someone pack a truck as well as Quan! Our team was Quan, Chris, Ed, and Julian. Such had working, polite, and professional group of young men. They were extremely careful with our things, which I completely appreciated!
They have great rates, but if there was one downside and it wasn’t a big deal, it did take a little more time then I expected, especially since we had everything on one level for them and only had them move it into the garage of our new home (with exception to a few items), but other than that they were excellent and we would definitely use them again!

Finding a moving company is always a toss up it seems, but I have to say A Simple Move did an excellent job with our move! We had 3 guys and they really came in and got right down to business– no goofing around! They showed up when they said they would, they had a great attitudes (lots of light hearted joking around), very friendly dispositions, got right to work, and they made sure everything went in the right places when we got to the new place. So worth the money!-Got a flat rate per hour plus a service charge– and that was exactly what it was, no hidden costs!
If we move again in the future, I would hire this company again!

Unfortunately, our experience with A Simple Move does not reflect the general consensus of everyone else on Unilocal.I suspect it may be an isolated incident, but it is worth reporting.
We opted for a crew of three. Two of the guys on the crew were great (really great, actually), but it only takes one to biff the whole thing. Mover #3 showed up and immediately announced that he needed to use the bathroom. We were moving out of a storage unit and into a house, so the bathroom wasn’t exactly around the corner. I ended up paying for his 30 – 45 minute quest to relieve himself, so really only got two movers for a while.
The bright spot of the move was the movers #1 and #2 offered to move our piano, which we were originally planning to do with a piano moving company. That was nice.
However, it all goes downhill from here. First off, my toolbox went missing. Probably an honest mistake, since the movers also brought their own tools, but mine was clearly marked with my name in big black letters. If you’ve ever moved into a house without a hammer, screwdriver, wrenches, or hundreds of other things you’ve amassed over the years, you’ll know how annoying this is, both in terms of money and time. No amount of calling around afterwards has ever located my toolbox. I’m sure it’s sitting on a moving truck somewhere.
And worst of all, the movers seemed to have an affinity to ding up every expensive piece of furniture we own. That’s right. The IKEA and AFW stuff arrived white-​glove-​style, but everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) from Room and Board or Crate & Barrel was dinged, dented and crushed. We did report the damage, and the movers paid up per the contract, but we ended up having to decide whether to file a second claim through our homeowners insurance, or pay out of pocket to have everything repaired.
Several months later, our furniture has all been repaired, so we’re finally able to live in our house as originally intended. Ask my wife about how she liked the plastic tubs we had to use for nightstands in the interim!

Well, it seems A Simple Move is a hit or miss based on the reviews and my experience. I picked them because of their affordability and Unilocal reviews. I was given a window of 2−3pm this past Saturday. I asked for earlier but Dwayne said that on weekends he had to do later times. That wasn’t a big deal. He called the day prior to remind me of our scheduled time which was encouraging. Then on the big day nobody showed up for my window time. When I called after 3p to get an ETA Dwayne said that there was some issue w scheduling and that it would be another 1.5−2 hours, so I said that would have to do. He offered to get me a third guy so it would be a quicker move, and I agreed. He also made some excuse that my move wasn’t confirmed with them, but then I reminded him that he left a message for me the day before.
2 hours passed and I called again, leaving a voicemail. About 30 minutes later I get a call from a driver who said that he was on another job but could be to my place by 7p. By this time I was pretty frustrated and agreed because what other choice did I have at that point? I was pretty stuck and needed to move that night.
Around 6:45p the guys arrived. They were hard workers and did a good job. I was impressed by how much they could lift! It was their third job of the day, and they started early in the morning. I felt bad for them because they weren’t scheduled to do my move. I was informed by one of the movers that the guys who were scheduled to do mine were very slow. These guys worked hard and didn’t break any of my items. They carefully wrapped my things and worked pretty quickly. If I was rating these guys alone, I’d give them 4 – 5 stars.
Dwayne was nice over the phone, but what annoyed me the most was that he totally gave me false info on when I could actually expect someone to help me move. I don’t want to be over promised on time when it is unrealistic. I want to know the truth. It was clear that Dwayne was in a bind because one of his crews dropped the ball on my move.
I have a hard time recommending them based on my overall experience. It probably didn’t help that it was a Saturday in the beginning of the month, but they should have the act together better than that. I was thankful to be done by 9pm. I ended up paying $ 237 plus tip.

I just moved yesterday and used A Simple move. I had two guys, no truck (I had my own) for $ 75/​hr plus ½ drive time for 2.75 hrs for a 1 bedroom with alot of stuff! total around $ 243 plus tip.
They give you an hour window for arrival. The guys arrived closer to the earlier part of the hour.
The guys… Tyson (i believe) and another guy both worked very hard. Both guys were super friendly. It’s really hard to make my dad happy. However, my dad was really impressed with how well they utilized the space on the truck.

First of all, I want to say that the two guys who were on my job full time were great. I watched one of them pick up three small boxes packed full of hardcover books and carry it out like it was nothing. Those men worked their butts off.
There were some problems with supervision. They showed up about a half hour after the latest time in their start window, and I had stressed the need for an early start time since there is only one elevator in my apartment — the earlier we could start, the less competition for the elevator. Since I was paying the downtown fee, the early start time was important to me, which I’d repeatedly noted. Money down the drain.
Anyway, when they did show up the team leader said they’d brought three guys rather than the two I’d requested — did I want to up to a three man/​hour job?
Sure, I said, if it’ll get done faster.
Oops.
Well, two of them still did all the work. I found out later that the third, the team leader had been working until 3am the morning before. I never saw him do a thing — he stayed in the truck the entire time. To ASM’s credit, they did eventually bring in someone else to take his place. It probably wasn’t anyone’s fault really, just an unfortunate situation — but, I’m the one who ended up paying for it.
Finally, the move in took about one hour, while the move out took about THREE. Nothing was dropped off on the way (5 minute drive), and waiting for the elevator doesn’t take that long.
On the way to my new place, they also were flagged over by someone on the street who was jumping up and down pointing at the back of the truck. They were following me, so I couldn’t see what had happened… when I asked, they said «Oh, I think a dolly fell off or something.» I still don’t know what I might have lost, and no one would give me a direct answer about what happened. They read these, so maybe they’ll let me know what was apparent enough that a skater waved them down.
Anyway, my bill was $ 450 to move a 2 bedroom apartment about 12 blocks — lots of boxes.

Sir Nicholas and I have moved a lot over the past 2 years — Denver to LA, LA to SF, and now SF back home to Denver (hooray!!) — and so we have experienced a lot of movers during that time. As we drove halfway across the country we started talking about how all of our movers had actually been pretty awesome, which truthfully wasn’t something we expected when we had hired our very first set of movers. We had heard the horror stories about broken stuff, stolen stuff, tardiness, etc., etc. and so that made us concerned. But after a half a dozen moves I can happily say I never experienced any of that bad stuff and the fellows from A Simple Move were no exception to this rule.
Prompt and friendly, our two movers showed up with a pair of gloves and very strong muscles and proceeded to move all of our belongings to our 3^rd floor apartment. It took about 3 hours from start to finish and the price was very reasonable in my mind.
Setting up an appointment to have the movers come is super easy — just a quick phone call will do it. And the guys called me the day before our actual move in to confirm all the details. I’m crossing my fingers that I won’t need movers for a good, long while, but if I do I’d definitely call A Simple Move again in a heartbeat.
