Today, at 8 AM, I had a crown put on one of my back teeth. If there is such a good thing as getting ones tooth drilled down to a nub and then having a temporary crown put on until the original is made — this was it.
In addition to being a highly skilled professional Dr. Meek was personable and a pleasure to be around. Unlike many doctors, he was patient, and actually looks you in the face and listens while you are talking.
In addition, Dr. Meeks dental assistant, Melissa, was also personable and very competent. She helped make the experience an enjoyable one rather than a dreaded one.
Finally, they were on time and worked quickly and efficiently. What else could one ask for when going to the dentist. I highly recommend them.

Still enjoying seeing Dr. Meek 5 years later. His hygienists are thorough and friendly. I have never had one that I wasn’t chatting and laughing with the whole time. All have a soft touch. I love that the office doesn’t try to force you into expensive procedures or cleanings. He would not even sell me on a night guard — rather just sent me to Target to get an over the counter one. I enjoy the honesty and don’t feel like I am being taken advantage of. Love my dentist!

Dr. Meek is amazing! He always makes you feel comfortable! The last visit I had for my cleaning I was feeling nervous because I hadn’t been to get a cleaning in two years. I had my wisdom teeth out and had some complications and took me about 2 months to recover. He did not make me feel guilty and was just happy I was there. Best dentist I have ever been to!

I usually get dental work done overseas, but since I haven’t been able to travel in a while due to work so I decided to get my teeth checked and cleaned here thanks to new dental insurance. The office was clean and the receptionist was very sweet, I had to wait less than 5 minutes before I was brought to the back. I was seated in a chair with a nice view and Jennifer was my dental assistant. She explained everything to me very thoroughly from my x-​rays to how i should clean my teeth and why I might be experiencing some gum swelling.
Dr. Tasch also came by to discuss my x-​rays in depth and helped me understand what they meant and what I should watch out for (staining, cavities, gingivitis, etc) he took a look at my teeth and decided that I would need a filling sometime soon and was happy to answer all of my questions. After he left, Jennifer cleaned my teeth and polished them for me, I have never seen them so clean! I was worried at first because it was getting close to 5 pm and I know how some people tend to get antsy and try to finish whatever they are doing so they can get out of the office right at 5:00, but she was patient and very detailed. She also told me about different kinds of toothbrushes I could get and how I should floss correctly and prevent future staining.
When I went out to the receptionist she told me I would need 2 fillings, which confused me since I thought I had heard the doctor say I only needed one. She was patient in explaining to me why the doctor put me down for 2 fillings and was happy to double check all the prices with my insurance.
My teeth/​gums look amazing and feel healthy and I will definitely be coming back here regularly for my cleanings and exams!

Always takes the time to patiently answer any questions, walk me through stuff, etc.

I have been looking for a good dentist over the past 2 years. I have finally found one that was great! I went to Dr. Meek’s office for a cleaning and had the best experience I have ever had. The staff is extremely polite, the hygienist was thorough and gentle, and Dr. Meeks was very easy to talk to and didn’t jump into expensive options for whitening, etc. as I have experienced in the past. I am so glad that I made my appointment and found this practice.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Meek since I started school at UT. Now I live in live in Austin permanently and I have to say that Dr. Meek is hands down the best dentist I have ever had. His staff is always extremely friendly, the office is always immaculate, and Dr. Meek always has a smile on his face and a positive attitude. Recently, I had a dental emergency and chipped a tooth the day before a job interview. I called his office up and he made it a priority that I get in before my interview. I should have written a review sooner but this experience solidified my trust and satisfaction within Dr. Meek. He had me fixed up in under an hour and you can’t even tell anything happened. 38^th Street Dental is the dentist I will continue to recommend to friends and family, and it will the dentist I take my take my kids to.

I’ve been a patient the last several years — ever since my old dentist tried to push a lot of high-​priced services on me and I was looking for a second opinion. Turns out I did not need thousands of dollars of work. I appreciate the solid though conservative approach to treatment here. Occasionally I have an «issue» with the hygienists but that seems to be the norm for dental practices in my experience. If you don’t have insurance you can buy a discount plan from them for $ 50/​year that lowers your cost on their services. This is helpful though it mystifies me as to why you have to pay them more for services than the insurance companies pay them for the same services. I asked about this once as my insurance was ending and never really got a satisfactory answer.

BIG Fan of this dentist office. They have a very nice/​clean/​modern space. They are always timely. No hassle with insurance filing or appointment. Dr. Meeks is funny, friendly and charming. I love that they never push un-​necessary treatments on my like teeth whitenings! Based on word of mouth, most of my office mates now go to this dentist. And I’ve switched my kids (age 14 and 16) to this Dr. Meeks too.

I have FINALLY found my new dentist for my whole family! I have tried and fired many dentists in the Austin area, but I think I have finally found one that’s a keeper. I almost didn’t take an appointment with Dr. Tasch because he didn’t have as many reviews as Dr. Meek, but I’m glad I did. Everyone that I had contact with in the office gets 5 stars. I will finally not be afraid to go in for regular 6 month check ups. I will also be bringing in my 4 children and my husband.

I have been a patient of Dr. Meek for several years now and I must say that the high quality of service this practice provides is very consistent. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the hygienist actually remembers things about me that could not be taken off a patient form. I feel as if Dr Meek genuinely has my best interest and health at heart and he does a fantastic job of making me feel comfortable especially through all the dental procedures I have had to do over the last couple of years. He has even recommended more cost-​efficient options in my best interest, that take away from the potential amount of business he could have generated off of me and that integrity /​honesty is hard to find. Great dentist, great staff, and great all around practice! I would highly recommend, especially for those who have a fear of the dentist.

An excellently run professional practice. No curve balls or unexpected procedures to add to the cost, which is something I’ve run into before.
Stephanie was my hygienist and did an amazing job, while being super friendly and helpful.
Dr. Meek was also incredibly approachable and knowledgable. In case you are wondering his teeth are perfect. I awkwardly stared at them in amazement for an inappropriate amount of time.
Most importantly they showed an interest in my health and establishing a good long term patient relationship. I loved this approach and I will definitely be going back.

I’ve been going to Dr. Meek for a few years now and would recommend him and his staff to anyone. The office has modern equipment, and you get to look at Dr. Meek’s dog photography on a TV screen in one of the exam chairs (you know … just an added bonus). I’ve never had to wait more than just a few minutes to be called back. Our dental hygienist even remembers personal details about my boyfriend and me, which makes it feel so personal and like a real family practice. 38^th Street Dental is the best.

One of the best dentist I’ve ever been to.
As a new patient, I called to schedule my appt and was told I could fill out the paperwork online, which was so convenient.
I just showed up just before my appt at 8 AM and was promptly taken back by a sweet hygienist who was very friendly throughout my whole cleaning. After she was done, Dr. Tasch quickly came to check out my teeth which he said were beautiful (tell me something I don’t know) and I was out the door before 9 o’clock.
I’m not afraid of dentists anyway, since I take very good care of my teeth, but I am definitely looking forward to going back in 6 months for another great check-​up.

I’m a weirdo. I’ve always and forever been obsessed with teeth. It’s the first thing I notice about someone.
I never thought I would considering I wore braces for 4 ½ years and I thought orthodontists were the devil. And ironically after I got my braces off, I started working for one as an after school gig through a counselor from high school who recommended me. Crazy turn of events.
After I graduated from college, my first job was at a dentist office that had an orthodontist office upstairs and the dental office downstairs. The guy that owned it ended up graduating with the guy that I worked for at the orthodontist office. Small world. I assisted with putting braces on kids and then I moved down to assisting with oral surgeries — which was the coolest.
I had the BEST dentist in Michigan — Dr. Dery. Their staff was the best and the coolest part about his office was that he had TV’s in all the rooms and would put this tire-​pressure looking gauge in your mouth that had a camera on it that he would move around the inside of your mouth and you could see your teeth on the TV. It was awesome.
But I moved to Texas so the hunt for the next great dentist was on. I found 38^th Street Dental. Dr. Tasch and Dr. Meek are awesome and I could not be happier. Dr. Meek is a dog photographer in his spare time and Dr. Tasch (whom I see for my teeth needs) is smart, great dentist. When you walk in the lobby, there’s a gorgeous slated backdrop with a large TV on it that plays slideshows of Dr. Meek’s dog photography work.
The front desk gals are super nice and friendly. I LOVE going to the dentist. It’s like a spa for my teeth. I don’t have any cavities and don’t intend to! If I could wake up every morning and go to the dentist, I would. I’m probably the only person on the face of the planet that would ever say that, but it’s true.

Switched dentists as my previous one went out of network and decided on 38^th Street Dental based on the Unilocal reviews. Was thoroughly impressed with the efficiency and professionalism of the office while still maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The reception staff called the day before to confirm my appointment, had me fill out the forms online, checked me in for the appointment immediately and had the films I had emailed already in the system.
I saw Dr. Meek and immediately loved his approachable demeanor and somewhat quirky personality — and I mean that in a good way, like someone you meet and know you’d be friends with. I was only in for a cleaning but asked his opinion on replacing my old silver fillings as I’ve had various dentists recommend in the past. He discussed with me for a good 5 minutes and checked the condition of the fillings and was straight up in that he would not recommend replacing without being prompted by some sort of crack or failure. I appreciated his conservative approach and got the feeling he does right by his patients instead of being concerned with money and treatment plan conversions.
Hygienist was fantastic and seemed to be knowledgeable and experienced in the work. Overall great experience and I would recommend.

Was looking for a dentist in Austin (moved here last year from Orange County) and decided to give 38^th Street Dental a try based on the reviews here.
I saw Dr. Meek a couple days ago and all I have to say is… that was the most positive experience I’ve ever had at the dentist. That’s saying a lot, considering I have had my fair share of dental work done.
There was something about Dr. Meek that just made me feel comfortable. The hygienist was very friendly; she kept me engaged in small talk, which was relaxing. She was also helpful in answering my questions.
Clean waiting area and exam room. I showed up on time and was seen right away. It was a great first visit.
I highly recommend Dr. Meek and his team!

I’m no longer a hobo. I can smile again, well I always smile now with no teeth missing. Dr. Meek and Staff, and I can’t say this strong enough, have been a delight along the journey. They were recommended by my periodontist for which i’m thankful. Also wanted to say there is a great staff of dental hygienist here. They get my highest rating, which should amount to at least a 5 star smile.

I’m not afraid of the dentist. But I can totally understand how someone might be. It’s rather terrifying, all those tools and sounds and the potential of having your mouth drilled or your teeth ripped out.
But, I think the best way to combat fear, is to fully understand what’s going on. This was my favorite element of visiting this office (Dr. Tasch) for the first time. He and his dental hygienist were incredibly kind, helpful, and explained each and every detail of the process.
Also, they have done a great job of implementing new technologies to make things more efficient. I literally walked in, signed my name on an electronic pad (I had already filled out and submitted my paperwork online) and within five minutes, was called in for my turn in the chair.
Yes, I do have a cavity, and as a result of that fact, I’m a touch bummed, but the overall experience? 5 Stars for sure. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a new dentist in the Austin area.

Just had my teeth cleaned yesterday and everything I said earlier is still true!
Still no wait for my appointment, no parking issues, friendly front desk staff, and a very nice hygienist who didn’t even hurt me while cleaning my teeth!
