Love the staff! Steph just hooked me up today with a quick replacement battery for my favorite watch; enroute to the airport no less!!! The technician performed the task in minutes and I was back in action. I have been taking my watches here since 2004 or so and they always get the job done quickly and correctly with a smile. The one time I went to another shop to get a simple battery change, the technician fractured the casing, didn’t tell me, and the watch was ruined the next time I took it in the water. Lesson learned. Thank You all for your time and efforts!

I enjoyed doing business with AJ at Abercrombie. The shop is very nice and in a lovely location. AJ’s relaxed and understanding demeanor went a long way towards putting me at ease during a difficult transaction. I can’t say enough about Stephanie. She was extremely helpful. At first I was considering a custom ring, they made the CAD and gave me the price. Unfortunately it didn’t fit in my budget. Instead of writing me off, Stephanie suggested we look at ready made settings. We were able to get a similar ring that fit within my budget. My boyfriend and I stopped here during our engagement ring search. I had been emailing with Steph and I couldn’t resist stopping in. Abercrombie Gems has gorgeous vintage jewelry, I wanted it all! The pricing seemed very fair and everybody that we talked to was friendly and helpful. Steph even sent me some settings to look at over email before our visit. I definitely cannot say anything bad about Abercrombie. I’ll be recommending it to friends and hopefully visiting again in the future.

I literally just walked out the door after a very quick and fair transaction. I went in to sell a ring that I never wear after doing research on gold prices this morning, and the price that I was offered for my ring came out to exactly one dollar less than I had calculated. AJ provided excellent service. Highly highly recommend this place.

A.J. and Steph were wonderful to work with from our first visit to picking up the engagement ring. My now husband and I wished to have a setting that really showed off our OEC diamond and had a low profile. We chose to go to Abercrombie Gems on an instinct that they were knowledgeable about antique/​vintage settings and old European cut stones based on reviews and their website. We showed A.J. and Steph what we were thinking and were provided great insight. We were very impressed with their off the bat knowledge! Plus, the shop is so charming — it was hard not to want to look at everything.
The whole custom process took almost 6 weeks, which was very reasonable. The store was also very prompt and responsive to our emails, no matter what we were inquiring about. We were also impressed that they took requested fine tuning to the ring seriously — you could really tell that they wanted us to be completely in love with the end result. Most of all, the ring is absolutely beautiful.
Abercrombie Gems also resized my husband’s natural white gold wedding band, which is a family heirloom. It was his mother’s original wedding band (his parents had matching bands), so it had to be resized about 2 sizes up. It came out perfect, as the ring came out looking the same, just bigger.
Abercrombie Gems’ prices were quite reasonable given the craftsmanship and time put into their custom pieces. The resizing of my husband’s band was quite inexpensive. We highly recommend Abercrombie Gems!

I can’t say enough good things about my experience with A.J. and Steph! My fiancé and I had just gotten engaged and came to Abercrombie without a clear picture of what we wanted. We knew we didn’t want a diamond and were originally planning on going with an antique, but were having issues finding the «perfect» ring.
A.J. showed us some loose sapphires that he had in his inventory, and we found one that we absolutely fell in love with. We weren’t quite ready to commit without doing more research, so we made a plan to come back a few days later once he had collected some other options for us. He collected many more sapphire options for us, but at the end of the day we ended up going with the original stone that had caught our eye at our first visit. We made a plan to build a simple bezel set around the stone. There was a lot of back and forth via email between us and Steph before finalizing on our ring design; it ended up taking about 2 weeks from the final design choice for the ring to be completed and it really is beautiful (which was nice because they had said it would take around 3 weeks to be safe).
As for actual logistics, the price of the platinum ring (custom made) was less than what a more cookie-​cutter version would have cost from a typical jeweler. The stone price seemed reasonable (from some online research — although I am not an expert so I can’t say 100%).
We will definitely be back for our wedding bands and can’t wait to do more business with them!

Above and beyond my personal affection for their early 20^th century influences in décor and featured pieces, the entire staff have been gracious, friendly, timely, informative and professional on all four of my visits. I will definitely sell to them again, as well as, shop when the budget allows.

I can’t recommend Abercrombie enough. My husband bought both of my rings from Abercrombie. They were so patient and wonderful while I tried on wedding bands to match the beautiful art deco engagement ring we got from them. I am overjoyed that I get to wear such a beautiful antique piece. Their sizing services are quick as well. I have several heirloom pieces I need sized and cleaned and I can’t imagine trusting anyone else with them.

I went to Abercrombie based on their amazing Unilocal reviews. Yes, they have excellent customer service. They were timely. They were affordable. They understood the piece held high sentimental value and were reassuring that they dealt with antique and fine jewelry day in day out.
However, the family heirloom necklace that I took to be repaired wasn’t repaired exactly as it should have been based on both the repair person’s suggestions and my instruction. Perhaps whomever did the repair wasn’t who I met with when I dropped off the piece? Functionally, the necklace and charm are wearable and while disappointed, we’ve decided to keep it as is. (They did offer for me to bring it back in to see what could be done). Understand this job could have been an aberration in their quality work but wanted to share my experience.

I can’t say enough about how truly amazing the service and quality is at Abercrombie Gems & Precious Metals. I recently purchased my fiancée’s wedding band at Abercrombie. I worked with Stephanie, but AJ was part of the process as well. They were both extremely professional, knowledgeable, and, most importantly in my mind, exceedingly fair. Stephanie and AJ both took the time to show me various price points and explained why some bands were more expensive than others. They did not rush me to buy something but instead they seemed more concerned with making sure I got exactly what I wanted. I am a firm believer in shopping locally and after my experience at Abercrombie I will never go anywhere else to buy jewelry.

DO NOT GO HERE TO SELL YOUR GOLD. I had recently come into some gold jewelry that I didn’t like or want, so called in and AJ was able to squeeze me in for a consultation before his lunch break. I don’t know much about the price of gold, but I can tell you I walked out of there feeling ripped off. He totally took advantage of the fact that I’m young, 20 years old. He insinuated that the chain of my gold necklace was plated and not worth any money, it was half the weight of the necklace. He just seemed sleazy af. If you are young bring someone older with you. I came here to avoid the sketchy pawn shops, and now I regret not going to one. This place may look nice and be in a nice neighborhood, but beware. I also heard him say as I was walking out something along the lines of ‘that was easy’. I got like 300 for a thick gold band of 10k, a 10k st. Christopher and ‘gold plated chain’ and a 14k gold thin chain. Idk the weight.
Something like 2.85.?)When I looked up the real value, it was about 575 dollars. Yay! I got ripped off by a dude who wears flip flops with jeans

I have a very special antique ring that needed some repairs. I debated for a long time where to take it to because I was worried about the cost and the delicacy of the ring. It’s probably worth more in sentimental value then actual value so I didn’t want to spend too much on repairs. I had visited Abercrombie’s website several times and was impressed with the antique jewelry they had so I decided to give them a try.
I stopped by while I was in Westlake, told them what I wanted done. The whole transaction took about 5 minutes and the staff was very nice. They told me they would call back and give me a quote. About 5 min. after I left the store they called back and I gave me the quote and told me when it would be ready. The quote they gave was amazing, and I was so happy that everything seemed to be straightforward, honest, and helpful. Customer service is severly lacking these days but not at Abercrombie.
I picked up my ring this week and they did an amazing job, the price was exactly what they quoted me and they shined it up so it was super sparkly. I took away a star because they told me it would be ready on a Thursday and it wasn’t ready until the following Tuesday. However, I was in no hurry and just wanted the job done well and felt like I got this at Abercrombie. The staff was amazing through the whole process, I’m definitely a fan of this company and would recommend, especially with antique or specialty jewelry.

I commissioned a custom ring from AJ at Abercrombie a few weeks ago. I went to pick it up today and am seriously delighted by the ring. It is exactly as we discussed, but the quality of the craftsmanship is even better than I could have imagined.
This is the second ring I have commissioned, the first from a different jeweler and I was so disappointed that my very clear description and diagram were so completely not replicated in the physical ring, I almost cried the first time I saw it. So when I went to get my ring from AJ, I was at little apprehensive when I flipped open the box. It was exactly as I’d pictured it. Even better. Awesome. Smiles. Happy Friday.
The ring is a ruby (or synthetic, can’t remember /​doesn’t matter) with two citrines, in a palladium setting. I chose palladium because I like platinum but can’t afford it and white gold never looks white enough for me and you know, I’m not getting sterling silver. If you are in a similar situation, I would highly recommend palladium, it is gorgeous and since it is naturally white, it doesn’t have to be «dipped» like white gold to stay that color. I really love the setting and the cut of the gemstones is perfect, they are so sparkly and pretty.
AJ may see me in Abercrombie again, possibly to have this ring sized down, I seem to be in between a 6 and a 6.5 (you know, if any of you Unilocalers want to buy me some bling); possibly to have it cleaned after the ring ceremony at graduation (apparently, you’re supposed to dunk your ring in a glass of beer then pound the beer – we’re Aggies, duh); or hopefully someday to commission some more jewelry. I can’t recommend Abercrombie enough. They saved me from horror of having to buy the official class ring and gave me something I can actually enjoy wearing, at a fair price, in a excellent time frame. Perfecto!
