Aloft Austin at The Domain

Beautiful modern furnishings with a few hints of industrial influence here and there. Our room was magnificent and I’d have to say that it’s probably the best 3-​Star hotel in Austin.
I’m giving this place a ⁴⁄₅ stars simply because of the fact that there is no continental breakfast. NO CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST.
Have you not seen the skit that Key & Peele about the guy who died and came back to life as a ghost just to get his continental breakfast!!! COME ON PEOPLE. PLEASE
It makes no sense not to have a continental breakfast. Like literally no cents, it makes so much no sense that it’s nonsense.
Real Talk though, classy place to stay as long as you avoid the trash elevator in the Red Parking garage. That elevator has definitely seen some horrible things happen in it from how dilapidated it was yesterday.

Stayed here for business for 3 nights. Very modern hotel with goes will with the neighborhood. I choose a top floor corner room. Bed was a little to soft for me and I did not need 4 pillows. Had enough outlets and nice towels for shower and bath. Had to call facilities to fix my TV. All in all a good stay.

Went here for a work conference and the bathroom sliding door was in such a state that it fell off the top hinge and didn’t slide closed. Also, the door was warped so it did not close leaving a gap. Notified front desk on a few occasions to no response. Do not go here with a coworker, if you have to share a room. Zero privacy in room bathroom and left here wondering why we had booked this hotel at all.

I so could not wait to write this review!
My boyfriend and I decided to have a little romantic getaway weekend to see the most magnificent and sublime Guy Forsythe and decided on the Aloft, as we loved the photos of the lobby, the rooms, and the pool area and the idea of walking to restaurants, bars and shopping!
Upon check-​in on Friday night, the front desk gentleman (I am so sorry! I do not recall his name and failed to write it down!) treated us as if we were royalty. When asked if he could recommend a restaurant not yet teeming with other folks and where we would be able to hear each other, as we are on the older side of dirt, he suggested we hit up Thai-​Kun! Oh, dear Heavens, the prawns had been marinated with the tears of the Baby Jesus, they were! And we were able to ogle and flirt with each other much to the delight of the wait staff!
The next morning the boyfriend was hanging with his dudes and doing really dudely stuff, so I thought I would have breakfast, maybe do a bit of shopping and lay out by the pool and drink copious amounts of adult beverages so not to subject myself to, you know, dudes!
The lovely Taylor and Ange were manning the front desk and when asked where I could possibly get a Bloody Mary with my breakfast at that unGodly Saturday morning hour, they got on the phone and found me just such a spot a block down! God bless ‘em!
Walked my ass down the block, got my first Mary and cup o’ joe and decided to do a bit of people watching! The restaurant was steadily getting more and more crowded by a group of, quite frankly, short statured, very handsome but arrogant young men! I actually overheard one of them say at the table next to me, «God, baseball is the stupidest.» I kid you not. Once they had gotten up to leave, I asked my lovely waitress (whose name shall remain nameless) who these fine, upstanding young men were. She rolled her eyes and said, «They’re hockey players and stay here all the time. They’re the dumbest bunch of jerks!» At right about this same time, a young man comes stomping back into the restaurant, jabs his finger at a waiter and shouts in front of the whole damned joint, «Have you found my credit card yet, asshole?!» The waiter states he has never seen the gentleman’s credit card. The kind young man rants that everybody here is so stupid and that they better g**damned well find his card and that he has to get on the bus now. I felt so bad for the waiter and called him over to console him and for him to shake it off. He laughs and says the only card presented from said gentleman was a room card.
Couldn’t wait to get back to Aloft and tell Taylor and Ange about the great adventure on which they had sent me! They were shocked that hockey players were so short! I said, «I KNOW (Monica Gellar emphasis added!)! They are the best front desk staff evah, they are! When I asked if they could call me a taxi to take me to the nearest convenience store, they directed me to walk in the opposite direction to Whole Foods!
Got to Whole Foods and was admiring and touching and squeezing and smelling all of the lovely produce when what comes over the loud speakers but Moris Day and the Time’s «Jungle Love!» Well, what’s an old gal to do but flap her arms and sing along, eliciting chuckles from the produce department! The woman nearest me slowly pulled her shopping cart backwards away from me. I disappointedly thought, «Hmm. When I was young, I most likely would have done the exact same thing.» And then I thought, «Hell no! I’d have flapped my arms right along with that old bat!» I mean, really?! It’s Morris Day and the damned Time! How can you NOT dance in Whole Foods, I ask you? Grabbed my pool beer and left!
Couldn’t wait to get back to Aloft and tell Taylor and Ange about the musical grocery adventure on which they had sent me! They giggled and were appropriately shocked and outraged at the lovely shopping cart woman’s reaction to flapping arms and sing-​a-​long! They asked my last name and remembered it! Upon checkout the next day, Taylor told my boyfriend, «Ms. N is so very sweet. Please take good care of her!»
The room was amazing with this frosted glass between the shower and bedroom for making artsy light shows to amaze and delight your Instagram friends! The beds and pillows were divine! The AC was so God blessedly cold for the hormonally challenged! The lovely ladies who replaced the pool towels were delightful!
And Taylor and Ange and, I’m quite sure, the rest of the front desk staff will do everything in their power to ensure your stay is the most fun, the quirkiest, the sexiest, the most invigorating, the most recharging experience ever.
This was not a chain hotel stay.

Nice hotel, nice accommodations, friendly staff; however, it was very loud due to the restaurant and bar below the hotel, especially on a Friday night. If you are going to stay here, be sure to ask for a room away from the restaurant and bar. With that being said, Somersault is a cool place to get a fancy drink. There was also noise from a nearby industrial complex that made it difficult for us to sleep.

Our checkin was amazing thanks to Taylor… She’s a customer service rock star! My husband and I loved everything about this hotel, especially the design and décor. The room was spotless, bed was soft. Glass shower was beautiful! Instead of a lame «continental» breakfast, there is a self service snack bar area, and the option for several made to order items, which is nice. Beautiful common area, wish we had a chance to have a drink at the bar. We would stay here again, next time we’re in Austin!

This review is after staying at this specific Aloft property on four occasions over the last six months. I think the concept of this brand is a good one, it just isn’t executed too well, at least at this location. The property itself is laid out well, and the lobby area is designed very well with a modern tone to it. The rooms, however, feel more like an upscale motel, rather than a hotel. Somehow, even being a newer property, it feels dated. The build quality is just not there. The furnishings, including the bed, feel like leftovers from Westin properties that have been repurposed to the Aloft.
In addition, the only dining option at this property is a somewhat attached, but not ‘on-​property’, restaurant. I also found a Kona Grill menu in the rooms that provided delivery to the hotel (not the room, but to the lobby.) The only saving grace for this property, which gave it three stars instead of one or two, is the lobby W XYZ bar and its staff. The regular bartender is super friendly, very knowledgeable of craft cocktails, and makes you feel welcome. He touted his ability to make one of the best Old-​Fashioned cocktails I’ve ever tasted and he did not disappoint!
All in all, I wouldn’t stay at this property if I had other choices, but it is good in a pinch for the value. As long as you come in with a certain level of expectation, you won’t be disappointed.

I actually love Aloft before this experience and now I’m warning other dog owners to stay away from this hotel. Not only were they rude to me, they also entered my room without calling me when my dog was barking. I had left for literally 15 minutes before they did this. The policy on their website doesn’t say anything about doing this and the manager was incredibly rude after the fact. Not once did I feel respected. I will NEVER stay with them again.
If you do stay with them, they expect you to never leave your dog unattended. What type of hotel is this?
It’s fine I guess if you don’t have a dog or don’t plan to go anywhere while you’re in town.
And multiple inquires to Westin and Starwood Preferred still didn’t help. Hotel manager couldn’t even get my email address right in his unsympathetic reply. Shocking.

This hotel had the 2 most important things for me: 1. A good gym and 2. A comfy bed. While the rooms are a bit small (typical of Alofts around the country) they are clean and modern (which can mean a little sterile). Yes, there is construction nearby, but I fail to see how that is the hotel’s fault (some people are always looking for a discount). Aloft is conveniently located to above average chain restaurants and a middle of the road shopping mall (Macys, etc).
A small outside patio is relaxing with some comfy chairs and a fireplace. The pool is nothing to speak of, but I had no intentions on swimming. The bar serves its purpose.

I wasn’t impressed with this hotel.
I was really excited to stay at Aloft because I heard that it’s a very modern and cool boutique hotel. In reality it was more like a wannabe cool but so so on execution.
we arrived pretty late at night and were excited to get our room. The guy at the lobby looked like he was doing us a favor when giving us the keys and even made a face when I asked questions like where is the gym or how does breakfast go.
The entire place is indeed very modern with pop art style, however it didn’t feel very lux (understatement). The room was disappointing. It had all the essentials but felt very «cold», I think because of the décor (sorry I don’t have pictures to share, I was too depressed to even take some…).
So why did I give it 3 stars (and not less):
— The bed was great. Actually, it’s on my top list of comfortable hotel beds I’ve tried!
— They have a well equipped gym
— You can always find parking there
— It is close to «the domain» which has a lot of great shops
Overall OK experience but next time I would probably go for another hotel.

Stayed here over NYE 2016 holiday weekend and it was the perfect place for a little getaway. I loved the location of Aloft. We were within walking distance of everything we needed (restaurants, spa, shopping, bars). I’ve stayed at the Westin and Aloft here at the Domain and I prefer Aloft’s location better than the W’s. I feel like it’s closer to the shopping strip and the parking garage is pretty convenient too. The only thing missing from Aloft is a dining area for a nice breakfast.
The rooms were clean, our chamber-​maids were polite and did a decent job making up the rooms each day. The good thing at Aloft is that if you choose to «go green» they give you a $ 5.00 credit to use towards the bar downstairs. Not a bad deal if you don’t mind using your towel again.
We stayed on the 6^th floor a little ways down the hall from the elevators, and did not find it noisy at all. The only thing «noisy» was a crying baby a few rooms down… If you stay in a room facing Neiman Marcus, the club downstairs («innovative cocktails» or whatever) can get a little noisy once the clock strikes 2am and people are leaving the bar. We are pretty heavy sleepers though so it didn’t really affect us.
Overall, this place was more on the pricier side of hotels (I recommend booking through Expedia or something of the sort), but the location and staff made our stay pleasant. Did I mention the gym is open 24hrs? That was a huge plus for us as we tried to shed some of our holiday «food babies!»

Great staff. Clean rooms and a Good location. There’s still a bit of construction and road noise from the building that is still going on in the Domain. The new parking garage behind the hotel is a huge plus and you are walking distance to just about anything you need in the Domain. Yes, per all Aloft’s, the elevators are glacially slow. Mike at the lobby bar is a huge bonus to this facility. All in all a solid place to stay.

I was appalled with the bartender’s customer service at the WXYZ Bar in the Aloft Austin Domain. A large group and I walked into the WXYZ bar hoping we could have a nightcap. However the bartender, on duty the day after Thanksgiving, was far from having a holiday spirit and lacked the ability to treat our party with dignity and respect.
We ordered 6 drinks and moved to the fireplace, to the side of the bar, to quickly take a photo. Apparently while we were taking the photo, the bartender fixed my drink but didn’t hand it to me. Thus, my drink sat randomly at the opposite end of the bar and I had no knowledge the bartender ever made it.
Several minutes went by and when I asked the bartender when he could make my drink he pointed to the drink, at the other end of the bar signaling that was my drink. Thus, I asked if the bartender could make a new drink as I never received the drink he pointed to, the drink was left at the opposite end of the bar, and the drink was left unattended for several minutes.
The bartender then became instantly irritated with my request for a new drink and responded «you should learn how to order a drink when you are ready to drink it». I was appalled and disappointed with the bartender’s tone, attitude and delivery as my previous experiences at other Aloft and Starwood hotel bars had been excellent to date.
I never received an apology from the bartender with the negative and rude demeanor and the bartender told one of the people in my party that he saw no need to apologize.
I understand that everyone has bad days from time to time. However it takes seconds to fix a new drink, accommodate «your» customer’s drink request and ensure that all WXYZ customers are welcomed patrons at the WXYZ bar.
In the future, I hope Starwood and every Starwood employee decides to put «the customer» first and truly treat ALL customers with dignity and respect.
In addition, I hope the WXYZ bar and the Aloft Austin hotel quickly realizes that happy customers create happy, profitable, long lasting brands/​companies.

Very snazzy hotel, good ambiance. Rooms are hip and accommodating, this particular location has thin walls for you love makers who are conscious of eavesdropping. Also, toilet paper is thin. Overall, great hotel, easy check in.

Pricey for what it is.
The cools:
1. Pool table in the lobby
2. XYZ bar convenient
3. Great location to the Domain shops
4. Plenty of parking
5. Powerful toilets, trendy sinks
The cons:
1. The pool is a joke
2. The powerful toilets are so loud you hear it in other rooms.
3. Lots of construction happening in the area and inside the hotel, and that was our view and what we heard all the time. A comp would’ve been nice.
4. The workers were a hit and miss. Some nice and some trying to achieve that «trendy snobby’ attitude.
5. Too pricey for what it is.

I have to show some love to Aloft amidst all the hate. I’ve stayed here probably 10 times in the last 5 years and except for the one time where the AC kept blowing right at my head, it was always pleasant. They’ve always been accommodating for room changes or putting me in a corner away from crazy noise.
Aloft isn’t supposed to be the W. It’s just a chic and comfortable one-​step-​up from a motel in my opinion and it delivers. Ask for more little bliss hand soaps — they’re great.

WHAT A DUMP! For $ 200 a night?! This hotel is no better than a Motel 6. The rooms are dirty, walls are scuffed up. There are patch jobs very noticeable on the walls and you can’t even crack a window for air in these rooms. The room I got smelled of bleach from the towels and sheets and we had to smell it all night long. The shower handle was off its line a bit and seemed to be on its last leg. The carpeting is old and coming, there are no glasses in the room just plastic, JUST LIKE MOTEL 6 and they put a volume control on their tvs. Can’t go past 25. Anyone who had a flat screen knows 25 isn’t loud. We had to turn off the air to hear the tv. Ridiculous.
What are we paying for? Not luxurious, not even bearable. Don’t stay here. Spend $ 200.00 else where.

Big time meh for this place, especially given the price.
Overall, the staff was friendly and I could tell that the rooms were being cleaned, but it still didn’t ever feel clean.
We checked in on a Friday afternoon around 5pm, and noticed some messes in the hallway leading to our room. These messes weren’t cleaned until nearly 24 hours later. The biggest issue were the rooms:
1) Small with not alot of natural light.
2) I’m told this hotel is fairly new, but the rooms felt old. While I could tell the room had been cleaned, linens changed, etc. — it never felt clean. The carpet was thin and I didn’t feel like germs were lurking there so much as in between the tiles in the bathroom. They had these brick like tiles with larger spaces in between and the grout looked dirty. Made me want shower shoes. In a nearly $ 200/​night hotel (that’s with a discounted group rate)
3) Thin walls. We heard a baby crying during most of our stay.
4) 1 single thin, low quality blanket on bed.
I just feel extremely disappointed, especially for the price. Probably would have preferred a Hampton Inn over this «trendy» «boutique» hotel. Next time will just stay at the Westin!

Wow! We drove in from Houston to do the zip line tour over Lake Travis and were unsure of whether we should stay the night in Austin. After hearing so many people recommend experiencing 6^th street, I started browsing hotels.
While I must admit, I only booked because the rate was phenomenal. Extremely lower than other hotels with great ratings so I was a little apprehensive. What’s the catch? Hmm.
We arrived and guess what? Complimentary valet! Awesome. Customer service? They were so nice and personable. Check in went very smooth and there weren’t any hidden fees or add ons (which is rare when booking through a third party site like
)
We went up to our room and although it is quite small, WE LOVED IT! My boyfriend even commented «oh yeah Danielle, you did it with this one!» The shower was great! The large mirror on the rolling door? Perfect! The bed was so comfortable.
The restaurant connected to the hotel is delicious too! Yum!
Next time I visit Austin, I will be staying here FOR SURE!

I am in love with Aloft Hotel! This is the 4^th different hotel I am trying in Austin, and for the price point, this is really the absolute best option, and here is why:
— Location, location, location — Neiuman Marcus and a bunch of CHAIN restaurants are a few steps away; WholeFoods market is about 5 minute walk
— Staff is super friendly and helpful, especially the guy doing night shift (Ray, I think) — he is AWESOME!
— 24 hour snack shop that carries fruits and fresh salads
— Bar downstairs service cocktails and wines until midnight
— Pet friendly — my sister’s Yorkie will be sleeping in comfort of a special bed with treats and tennis balls
— They just get it done… you ask, and YOU GOT IT!
Not to mention that the property is very new and stylish, nice to be inside.
One «nice-​to-​have» would be pre-​made oatmeal for breakfast, I am really not a fan of those super-​sweet containers that pretend to be healthy oatmeal
