History

Established in 1994.

Founded in 1994 by fencing master Eric Mallet, AFC has been Austin’s premier fencing club for over 20 years, introducing countless kids and adults to the timeless sport of fencing, and producing champion fencers.

Business Owner

Maître Eric Mallet graduated in 1986 from France’s prestigious National School of Fencing Masters. He has a Master’s degree in physical education. He has led AFC as its head coach since its founding in 1994.

We moved to Austin 2 years ago and were looking for fencing club for my 12 years old son at that time. He barely started fencing and never have been competitively fencing as an athlete. Austin Fencers Club reshaped him into a competitive fencer and march 2014 was the first competitive competition we went in Dallas. After rigorous summer camp and training, he was qualified to go to National Championship in July 2015 and placed within TOP 50s in the nation for DIV III. He recently placed on top 10 for North Texas Open — first competition in the season which scored spot for National Championship in July 2016! This is great place to learn Olympic level sport with highly qualified coaches. If you are looking into effective workout that can help you for long run, this is also great place as well. Kids loves fencing classes and it also helps tremendously to go to college or to be healthy! I highly recommend it!!!

I can’t think of enough good things to say about AFC! The benefits go beyond physical fitness. The other fencers and families have been such a positive influence. We’re so happy our family made AFC a part of our lives.
