Austin Granite Direct

We are building a new home and used Austin Granite Direct for all our counters. They are awesome, very reasonable and timely. Our counters look beautiful. Jose was wonderful and worked with us throughout our whole project. I cannot say enough good things about this company, their installers and I recommend them highly. They stand behind their products and when I needed to change out a sink already installed, Jose was very gracious and made it happen. I had a great experience with these folks.
They did excellent work and provided superior customer service throughout the process.
They accommodated my every request.
Jose, the owner, even came out and measured my place specifically. He’s very dedicated and knows his business extremely well. He gave me advice on what would look good and what would function well for my needs.
I ended up going for quartz countertops and a nice under-​mount sink that’s a ⁶⁰⁄₄₀ split. I couldn’t be happier. My new kitchen looks beautiful!
I also had his team install the backsplash the day after they installed the counters. (You buy the materials and pay for the labor)
I simply went to Lowe’s and picked up the materials for the backsplash and his crews did all of the work.
I recommend them to anyone in the area. Their prices were the best I could find.

You’ve got to be flexible when you’re working with major upgrades. After writing this review, I read a lot of the reviews below and people were complaining about minor delays.
I had a one-​day delay. Jose called me ahead of time and said that the slab they had from which my counter would be cut had a very large scratch in it, but he would be able to get another one if I waited, and he wanted to know if I was okay with it. Of course I was okay with it.
Ladies and gentlemen, when I’m spending thousands of dollars and purchasing something that will last decades, waiting a few days is the least inconvenient thing I can think of.
Additionally, on the tile, I ran out, but that’s my fault because I didn’t buy enough. I just had to go pick up another few pieces.
They got the job done right the first time. That’s what matters.
General advice for all people working for you:
As in everything where you have unfamiliar people working for you, trust but verify. You set the schedule, and you make sure it fits your timelines, but call ahead of time and make sure they’re tracking too. Work together with your contractors and you’ll have a much better experience, no matter what you’re doing.
When the crews/​workers come out to your house, make them feel at home at least a little bit. Give them that southern hospitality we’re so well-​known for. Offer them some drinks and ask if they need anything. If you’re sitting around doing nothing, check in on them from time to time to make sure they’re doing exactly what you want. You’re paying them, so it’s your right to question what they’re doing. If something looks off, ask them to explain it to you. If you’re not satisfied, call up the office and ask them.
Not only will making them feel welcome and giving them some hospitality make them feel more comfortable, it will make you feel better, and they will do better work for you.
If you’re a jerk, don’t expect people to like you and work hard for you.

We recently purchased a new house and needed to get countertops in before Thanksgiving. AGD stepped up and Jose, the owner, squeezed us in before the holidays. This was much appreciated. Unfortunately, when it came time to «pick our slabs,» they only had the two left, which were not very good quality at all — the stone is supposed to be white and grey, but these two slabs and MANY rust-​orange looking splotches… while overall they look nice and the overall service and install process was great, they quality of the stone was not. Paying $ 4,000 for countertops, it would have been nice to not have to settle for 2^nd quality stone.
That being said, I would still recommend AGD, just personally wish we had more time to get a better quality slabs…

We contracted Austin Granite to install counter tops in a condo we were getting ready for market. We contracted for an upgraded sink.
The installers arrived a little late, but went straight to work. Unfortunately, there were some errors in the cuts of the pieces delivered (Bullnose on one piece was on wrong face, and another piece did not take into consideration the location of a column and other structural considerations). Some on-​the-​fly alterations were required.
My hats-​off to the crew for the craft with which they resolved these issues, though some of the engineering seemed questionable, and a cantilevered bar was secured only along the outside face, permitting a potential «living hinge» were one to apply too much weight to the outside. (It in fact already showed some signs of failure by the time we sold, but as we had subsequently installed a tiled backsplash, the structure was not accessible and it would not be possible for them to address the matter.)
THe crew was given a sink to install which was horribly scratched, so we had to await a replacement while the crew cut the hole for the sink. The replacement was delivered on another day by another crew who discovered that the replacement sink did not fit the hole cut into our counter. In fact, the hole was cut for a cheaper sink than we ordered. I wasted hours waiting at the condo this second day while the crew debated what to do and traveled back and forth with a sink to fit.
For not getting what I contracted for, I was refunded the difference only for the upgraded sink which I did not receive. Frankly, I felt a little more of an adjustment was in order for the inconvenience and for not delivering what was contracted. (I felt I would have been in my rights to have them redo the counter with a hole to fit the sink for which I had contracted.)
As indicated above, a crack began to upon on one of the epoxied seams where an L-​shaped counter came together, presumably due to inadequate gluing down of slab.
(While I won’t deduct points here, I’ll just add that I kinda expected to get the traditional cutting board with the waste from the sink cut-​out, but was never offered, and the crew took it away.)
While the aesthetic was beautiful, and the pricing very reasonable, I was left with very real concerns about the install and its longevity, and I felt a little more professionalism was in order.

We recently had granite countertops installed by Austin Granite Direct and we are extremely pleased. Trent was very helpful-​he answered all of our questions and even helped us make design decisions. We were very impressed with the team of installers. Ruben and the rest of the guys were very professional and knowledgeable, and wouldn’t waiver or compromise when faced with a challenging situation left by another one of our workmen. I am so grateful that they insisted that his work be correct before they would continue. It is now perfect and we love our new kitchen!

I want to update my review after getting a call from Jose the owner. He unfortunately didn’t receive my initial phone call last week so that’s why I didn’t hear back from him. I’m giving them 4 stars because I appreciate Jose reaching out to me and rectifying their mistake (he’s sending a crew back today to fix the caulking). He was told I needed a piece of granite for the back of my sink which isn’t what I told Kenny. I’m definitely going to give them another chance but will definitely reach out to Jose rather than Kenny.

We recently used Austin Granite Direct and were very satisfied from the moment we walked in the door of their showroom until the day of installation! We wanted to install granite in our kitchen and 2 bathrooms, had hit a wall with the big box stores and felt frustrated by the typical process. We had picked out the granite, but were frustated by the process where you don’t know your price until YOU find an installer/​contractor to install what you’ve chosen! At Austin Granite Direct, we walked in, chose our granite from what they had on site, scheduled measurements and moved forward! Granite and installation all in the same buisness made everything so much easier!!! Each time they came to our house, they were on time, and able to answer our questions. We love the work they’ve done and even our plumber commented on the beautiful craftsmanship!

These guys are the best, great customer service and quality work. They worked with our schedule and provided a flawless installation. Also gave great advice on sink selection and actually brought the sink with them. Very pleased customer!

Austin Granite Direct has previously provided a good service for a fair price for several of my projects; however, the last project took over 6 weeks to get on their schedule and 2 weeks to obtain pricing (even after multiple attempts), and the worst part was after the work was completed and how Rebecca unlawfully shared my information to another person. This action alone was cause enough to decide to end the relationship with AGD, as they had proved that they could not be trusted with important information.
Everyone wants a good price and good work, but before you hire any business, be sure that they are trustworthy, respectable, and are able to keep your information safe. I will no longer be doing any work with AGD as there are plenty of other granite suppliers here in Austin that I know are more professional and care about their customers.

Hands down the best choice in Austin. We chose them because of their honest and direct pricing format and LOVE them for the exemplary quality of the work and customer service.
We purchased 2 slabs of horribly expensive Taj Mahal Quartzite and had it honed and installed in our kitchen. The process was flawless and the folks at AGD from Rebecca to Jose and everyone in between were amazing.
Jose, the sweet mild mannered owner, came personally to measure and make templates.
Honing was not something normally done on quartzite so Rebecca insisted on making a sample just to make sure that we liked it.
Jose met with us and painstakingly helped us choose the exact placement of each template.
A very polite and hard working crew led by Ernesto came to install. Ernesto was the quiet hard working type of tradesman that I LOVE! He was extremely serious about his work and paid such close attention to detail that my OCD Engineer spouse was even impressed (tainted by so many workers that have ripped us off he is almost never impressed FYI). There were no long breaks or loud music — one of the most professional tradesman that we have ever had in our home. It is clear that Ernesto and his crew take an enormous amount of pride in their work.
Every step of the way Rebecca and Jose answered our questions immediately and provided complete support. It seems straight forward but I had a zillion concerns and changed my mind and added things (additional counters, tile etc). Basically I was horribly detailed and picky but no matter what I requested AGD delivered without hesitation. The pricing always remained consistent and fair and they went above and beyond doing a few things last minute at a fair and direct price (we have had horrible experiences with workers gouging us for last minute additions or changes).
We can’t say enough about Jose, Rebecca, Abby and team! I am NOT exaggerating when I say that Jose treated our project as if it were being done in his home. My father was a very high end east coast builder and provided the same type of sincere service to his clients. Rebecca is so dedicated you would think that it was her company! She is not only a joy to work with but responds quickly and bends over backwards to assist. My favorite saying is «The fish rots from the head». I’ve found that folks who are miserable and hate their job don’t give you anywhere near their best. It is almost always because they have a poor leader. Clearly, Jose has a hard working, respectful and dedicated team because he is an honest and fair leader.
I cannot possibly say enough about this company. I know that this is long but we are doing a major remodel on a $ 3,000,000 home and have had some HORRIBLE experiences with greedy, dishonest, lazy and arrogant tradesman that I have lost countless nights of sleep over having to deal with and or be cheated by. It is so refreshing to work with folks who take so much pride in their work. Kudos to you Jose for leading such an amazing team!
One additional reason to choose AGD:
The granite yards would not tell us the price of the slabs which was beyond irritating. One yard told me «We only give pricing to Granite Direct clients». I called AGD and they passed on to the yards that they can be honest with me and give me straight forward pricing. I LOVED THAT!!! The other fabricators that I spoke with gave me all kinds of ridiculous reasons why they could not share the price with me instead of just saying «we don’t want you to know how much our margin is». AGD charges you for the work that they do and does not profit on the slab that you buy from the yard. We believe in everyone making a fair profit for the work that they do. The actual cost was not the issue but the process to get the information was time consuming and unpredictable. Other fabricators expected us to send them what we wanted and they would get back to use at some point with the price. Many times the next day. AGD authorizes the yard to give pricing directly to me which saved ENORMOUS amounts of time. Also, Rebecca actually got us a cheaper price on our Quartzite! She made a call and referred us to a dealer that gave us a great deal (after we had driven all over Austin for 2 days). One fabricator was charging us market rate for his services as well as almost DOUBLING the price of the slab that they had not handled in any way. A $ 4,000 profit for making a phone call. Wow.
PS Some other AMAZING people we have worked with are Austin Retrofit for windows and Forja Ironworks for iron railing. Both also exemplary! The list of horrifying ones is too long and painful to recount.

AGD was responsive throughout the process. Trent was helpful and advised us well on selecting a good countertop that is durable for us and our 4 kiddos. He advised against a marble bc we’d destroy it, which we’d agree with wholeheartedly (especially after having it for a couple weeks).

Austin Granite Direct called me today with a sincere apology for what occurred. I give them an additional «star» for taking the time to call me and explain the situation.

We can’t say enough good things about Jose, Rebecca, Moses, Abby, etc., and we love our countertops. Full disclosure: we had a hideous experience with two of the guys they contract with to do the installation, but Jose sent the A-​team out to fix and address every issue and concern. Would definitely recommend AGD.

They did our countertops 3 years ago, and I’ve been going back and forth on how to review them, as our experience was a bit mixed. If I could’ve picked that option, I would’ve ranked them 3.5 stars, so I’m rounding that up to 4.
Kenny was the one who came out to take a look and gave us the quote. It was reasonable and within our budget and better than another quote, so we went ahead. Kenny was not there on the day of the install, but Pedro’s crew did a solid job. They ran into some unexpected issues with the outlets, but handled them to my satisfaction.
The one little problem I had is that when it was all done, there was a small gap between the backsplash and the breakfast-​bar counter, less than an inch. There was also a small dent in the sink. Kenny came out and fixed the dent perfectly (absolutely no sign of it now), but there wasn’t much he could do about the gap other than to touch up the paint. He had apparently measured it wrong, and so the backsplash was a little too short.
It would’ve been nice if they’d done more to address this (and I wasn’t keen on how he «casually» mentioned his wife was a lawyer while we were talking — I really was never going to sue over such a little thing), but in the grand scheme of things, this is pretty minor. We plan to eventually cover it with beads, but it doesn’t look bad and the backsplash still works just fine, so we keep putting that off.
Really, the counters and the sink are both absolutely beautiful and have provided such a significant improvement to our quality of life, I don’t really feel like we have anything to complain about. Overall, they did a great job, they did it promptly, and professionally. It doesn’t look totally perfect (otherwise I’d have given 5 stars), but it functions perfectly, which is what counts. Can you believe that it’s actually a joy to clean our countertops?
So yes, I would recommend them.

We love our granite so much. They were great. However we chose to go with the stainless sink int he kitchen that they provide and it’s awful. We’ve been in our house for 3 weeks now and it’s so scratched. We take great care of it, but it’s cheap and I am frustrated that we spent thousands of dollars on a kitchen, but now have a crappy sink. Wish they would have given me a heads up.

Simply fabulous! I interviewed 3 other fabricators before choosing AGD. Like most people, I wanted competitive pricing but I wasn’t necessarily looking for the cheapest fabricator. I was looking for a company that was knowledgable, professional and stood behind their work.
The first time I called AGD I left a voicemail and I did not hear back. Because of the fabulous reviews on Unilocal,I decided to call a second time. Glad that I did!
I very much wanted to install Marble in my kitchen but after numerous warnings about staining and etching, I decided to look for another material. I did not want man-​made counters (Quartz), nor did I want granite. I love Soapstone but I wanted a lighter color slab, so my choices were limited. Luckily I found a gorgeous slab of Brushed Grey Goose Quartzite at Pacific Shores. It looks a lot like marble but does not stain or etch, nor does it show streaks like polished granite.
Abbie at AGD was fabulous. She helped me get all of the information (pricing, information on different materials, etc.) that I needed to make an informed decision. Jose came out, took measurements and got me scheduled within a week or 2. The installers were great. They arrived on time, tore out the old slab and backsplash, installed my beautiful new slab, cleaned up and headed out. The tile guys had to be rescheduled because my tile was not in. When they did come, they fixed my Sheetrock and installed the tile but we were 3 SQFT short. They came back again on the Saturday before Christmas and finished the job.
Abbie, Jose and Rebecca were all very good to work with. They made selection, scheduling and installation a great experience. I highly recommend AGD.

After tons of research and emailing back and forth with numerous granite fabricators, I chose Austin Granite Direct and could not be happier. Kenny did an outstanding job of getting me exactly what I wanted at the the best possible price! He always did what he said he was going to do, no questions asked!
If you are looking for an amazing, reliable, reasonable, and quality company and the personnel to go along with it, then please, by all means, choose Austin Granite Direct. Believe me, I know! Like I said I contacted close to a dozen fabricators and AGD had by far the best product and quality of work for the money! You won’t regret it!

Wow, wow, wow! These folks are great. I got more than I could have imagined and loved the experience.
Trent came out and measured the three spaces I needed granite. He gave me estimates based on what we were looking at and told me about potential ways to save money like using remnants. We then went to look at the remnants available and Rebecca showed us around describing each one and helping us with ideas. At no point did we feel pressured beyond just getting more excited about potential ideas! Both Rebecca and Trent were patient and helpful. All around professionals.
Once we decided on granite for two of the three projects (still thinking about the third), we were assigned a date and crew. We had Harold, Victor, and Carlos. They were so wonderful! They came out, set up quickly, were friendly and very efficient. They asked us about a few details that were very helpful — like whether we wanted the bar to extend on both sides when it met the wall. We had not thought about it, but it is such an improvement! Cutting on sight really allowed them to make it perfect and they were as friendly as could be. They didn’t even mind us nervously hovering over them while they worked.
We will definitely use Austin Granite Direct again. We have a third project we are working on for a counter on a cabinet in the dining room. We want something pretty spectacular, so we will keep looking, but as soon as we doo, we are calling Austin Granite Direct for the fabrication and installation. Thank you so much!

Details:
We used Austin Granite Direct in our extensive remodel project. We had detailed architectural drawings for the kitchen,. A custom built kitchen island from a Jumbo slab of Silestone with curvy shapes left me uneasy about the execution. But Austin Granite Direct rose to the task. They were easy to work with and made sure, through onsite visits, that the developed templates would fit precisely on our custom built island.
The curvy shape of the island was slightly refined for feel of the room on-​site.
Austin Granite Direct delivered the actual slab on schedule, despite having taken the template measurements one day later than originally scheduled.
When the slabs arrived a couple of days later, Pedro and his experienced crew did a first class install job that left nothing more to be desired. I was a little worried about the complex island shape but their execution was perfect. They were great communicators and I was able to meet on site to inspect the created slab before installation and to guide the exact cutting of the cutout for the undermount sink and to determine the exact faucet and auxiliary cutouts in the slab.
Pedro and his crew handled the whole process professionally and their work was very fast and tidy. I would definitely use them again, should I need another counter top job. I highly recommend the company, Pedro and his crew.

Thanks to a great referral from Kimberly K, I was able to discover Austin Granite Direct. I called Jose to come over for an estimate and ideas. He was punctual, in fact he called to let me know he was running about 10 minutes late. Jose is a very easy going guy and he knew his stuff. In fact during the entire project he was extremely communicative and punctual when we met before the job started. We scheduled the job to be done on Saturday, which was exceptional since that meant that the Suze and I could be there during the entire process.
It is actually alarming at the pace that these guys get at it. They weren’t in the house more than three minutes before they got stuck in and the demolition of the kitchen as I knew it began. They made quick work of the old counter tops and managed not to break a single tile, which was very helpful since we needed them for the back splash. They asked me questions as we went through the process since we had some unique issues. IE, the friggin builder of our home apparently didn’t own a level. We unfortunately ended up with a ¼ inch to ½ inch gap under the granite which we will need to put up some trim to cover. They laid down all the slabs, sealed them up, polished them so they were shining like mirrors and made their way out. The whole project was done and dusted in about 4.5hrs.
A couple of things which I really liked about AGD. Their price included a choice of built in sink. They have a tile guy who is coming out on Monday to complete the back splash for us. They will disconnect the old sink and discard it for you, however, they will not reinstall the faucets, garbage disposal and dishwasher line. We knew this going in so you will need to schedule a plumber to come out and do this for you. AGD will work with any granite yard in the greater Austin area, however they do have their own granite that you can purchase. We went this direction and probably saved a grand or so. Jose is a treat to work with. The kitchen looks Ab Fab and we couldn’t be more pleased with the job that they did. I guess now we need to do our bathrooms… ah jeez time to sell another kidney.
