Bribery Bakery

You couldn’t bribe me to return to Bribery Bakery. I stopped there with a buddy for a cup of coffee and something sweet. We both ordered coffee and I opted for some kind of chocolate strawberry bread pudding muffiny thing. I was shocked at the very poor selection of bakery items. This is a bakery? The bread pudding muffin was just ok and the coffee was not even warm. No thanks!

After seeing this place on Eater Austin’s must try bakeries I knew I had to stop by. First, this place is super cute. Definitely a place to grab a coffee, crosssiant and gossip with your girlfriends. The staff was super friendly and informed us all pastries were half off. Had I known how heavenly their cinnamon rolls were I would have ordered all of them put on 20lbs, lol. Unfortunately, I only ordered one and the next morning I realized half of it was gone. The culprit, also known as my husband, enjoyed it just as much as I did. We will definitely be back, but this time I’ll make sure and order one for my hubby.

I really, really want to love this place. However, I can’t seem to find anything I love eating here. The coffee is awesome, but it is only available in one size (I would love a larger size).
A few things I have tried here:
Savory Bread Pudding: A bit too rich for me. Overall tasty.
Coffee Cake: I wish it had a bit more of a coffee cake taste. I is sweet but no coffee tinge.
Shortbread Cookie: Very dry. Gel icing was not my cup of tea.
Blondie Brownie: Boyfriend loved it. I let him have it after trying a bite…
I will be back, and I will continue to look for something I love.

I love this little bakery. First of all, it’s ADORABLE. It’s a girlie dream. But it has something that boys (that aren’t into girlie things) will like too: delicious-​ass pastries, cakes, and savory items.
Since it’s up the street from me, it’s my go-​to either when I’m craving something sweet, or when I need to bring something to a party. But it’s worth a trip even if you’re not in the ‘hood.
The brown butter blondies may be one of the best dessert items I’ve ever had. They are to die for. I buy them every time I’m bringing dessert somewhere, and everybody goes nuts for them. They are HEAVEN. They’re a good size and rich, so you can easily share. All the desserts are pretty huge, except for maybe the almond cake and brownie, and are meant for sharing. I like to get a selection of things and then cut them up for serving. The seasonal donuts are always tasty, the brownie is so rich and amazing that even even though it’s bite size, you probably have to have a monster sweet tooth to eat more than half (particularly if you want to sample other things). I haven’t had the cinnamon roll yet, but it’s HUGE and looks amazing.
As well, they have great breakfast items, like the bacon gruyère popover (you can get it with herbed butter or honey butter) and breakfast sandwiches on biscuits (or maybe they are scones…). They usually have veggie option or two for breakfast as well. Tarts with goat cheese and tomatoes, scones… ugh. It’s great, just go already. They also have coffee and tea and things and it’s full of super cute swag you can buy if you want everyone to know how much you love Bribery Bakery.
They’re opening up in Mueller as well, and they said that location will be bakery by day, lounge by night.

Stopped by today for a sweet treat on Valentine’s Day. I had their chocolate cake and the hubby ordered one of their gorgeous cinnamon rolls. My chocolate cake was moist and very flavorful. The portion was huge and I joked that I had given myself diabetes by the time I was finished with it. The hubby enjoyed his cinnamon roll and said he would definitely come back. The atmosphere was very pretty and welcoming. Service was quick and friendly. All in all, it was a very nice experience.

The coffee was good but the desserts were amazing esp the cinnamon roll almost as big as my head. And the carrot cake was so tender and generous in portions I took some home and it was faboo the next day too.
Also the décor was adorable… loved taking the teenager there!

I find it a shame that someone would deliberately post fake negative reviews because she was told no about using the shop for a photo session. This place is serene, clean, and has the yummiest goodies in this area. Plus the face every Sunday afternoon you can grab what is left for half price cannot be beat. Take the time to make your OWN decision and do not base it on the posts based off a spiteful person who feels the need to be cruel because she did not get her way.

I have visited before and would give this place a good to great review based on my first experience but when I decided to bring my parents by I was forced to take back any praise I had for this place.
The staff could not have been less interested in helping us and after we ordered and paid for our food it was left out on the counter for 20 minutes instead of being heated and it wasn’t discovered until we went in the back to find someone because we didn’t know if we were ever going to get our food.
During this whole scenario the staff that did come in the dining area kept giving us rude faces and using extremely passive aggressive tones. I’ve been to a lot of different places and I can’t remember the last time I’ve been treated so poorly as a customer.
I understand bakeries are busy places in the morning but if you are so disinterested in helping customers then find another line of work.
Overall I’ll give them 2 stars as there food tends to be fairly good (although I’d stay away from the breakfast muffin, I think it might just be a preference thing and their pop tarts were under filled compared to others I have had in restaurants) but the quality of their food is only matched by the lack of professionalism and rudeness of their employees.

Do you want to eat sweet and savory interesting pastries and other nom noms? Go here now. Or when they’re open. Or go to the new Mueller location. Jodi is a baking rock star. I’ve followed her from F&D to her lovely stores. Adorable, delicious and full of good people. Popovers, quiche and the savory croissants are my favs.

Very cute and cozy little shop with AMAZING treats. Staff is friendly, and we’ve always had good experiences. Glad to have found this gem.

I recently brought something to Jodi (owner) via email about an issue of what appeared to be attacking a young girl over Instagram. I told her that I loved her bakery, but didn’t approve of her publicly shaming a CUSTOMER who had a negative experience and posted on Unilocal.
Here was her response… It goes to show who she is as an owner, and what you’ll get from her business. The customer will rarely be right in this person’s business, and feedback will not be taken to heart. Yes, it’s a direct copy and paste if you can believe it.

This place is absolutely adorable! I stopped by in the meal of the day during the week with a coworker. The espresso machine was down but we didn’t let that hinder our experience. I had coffee (served in a real big coffee cup which was nice!) and a chocolate peanut butter cookie. We were able to use free WiFi for an hour, get some work done and recharge. I ended up taking a cinnamon roll home to my family of three it was plenty big and absolutely delicious! I will be back.

We came to the flagship ship after attending a soft opening for the Mueller shop a couple of weeks ago.
First impression is that it’s a bizarre location. There’s not much appeal in Wells Branch. Inside is kitschy, eccentric, plain adorable, consignment-​chic, real life tea party, I loved it.
So, straight away I want to know where the cinnamon rolls are. Not ready, but only ten minutes to wait, cool. We say well order other stuff and just wait on the roll.
(Odd thing is, they opened at eight thirty, it’s about ten after nine, so it seems weird that there aren’t any of this coveted prize)
So we order two other items, and two coffees.
When we go to pay I say, Ok and the cinnamon roll. I get a bewildered stare, then the explanation again about them not being ready… Ok fine with waiting but can you let us pay now? Just sort of silly confusion.
There was a lady that seemed in charge, but wasn’t terribly friendly, and rather curt with the other ladies working there. She seemed to sort of talk at them. It seemed to make one of the gals nervous. She brought us a sealed box and asked if we’d rec’d our cinnamon roll yet, we said that we hadn’t gotten any anything yet, so we opened the box, and it was the roll. It was weird that we were being asked if we had what she was having us. She comes back a couple of minutes later with our other two items, but one was wrong.
It seemed like maybe the A Team was sent to Mueller and Wells Branch was left to flounder. I hope that won’t be a regular occurrence because I’d like to come back and eat my way through everything in the case.
My coffee wasn’t very exciting, a mocha that wasn’t very… Mocha. My friend had a vanilla latte that he didn’t comment on.

–Baby/​toddler friendly (step stool and changing table with backup diapers and diaper cream in bathroom, nice quality high chairs)
–Enormous pastries
–Friendly staff
Cons:
–Pastries are so large that they may bake unevenly – the chocolate croissant that I got was delicious in some spots, undercooked on others, and dry on the edges
–A cup of decaf coffee cost me $ 4, and it was lukewarm (this was by far the biggest bummer. $ 4!!!)
–need more tables
–while small child friendly, the workers were unable to tell me about the pasteurization status of some of the cheeses they serve
I’ll try it again, but I’ll steer clear of the coffee and will be trying it when I’m already in that part of town – not worth a special trip, IMO.

I LOVE this place and am so happy Jody picked north Austin to open her first place.
The quiche with goat cheese & roasted vegetables, the savory popovers, the brown butter blondie, the buttermilk pie! (the best one I’ve ever had) the savory bread pudding, the variety keeps coming and everything is worth sampling.
They even hired good baristas so you can get a decent cappuccino! Every time I’m tasked with bringing goodies to work for some event, this place is the first thing I think of :-)

Peanut butter ganache cookie.
I feel like breakfast is overpriced… But that cookie (and I guess their other sweets)
Just buy 2 cookies.

This place is a secret gem hidden in suburban north Austin.
When I walked in I was amazed by how cute the whole gettup was. I was so excited!!!
I wish my apartment was decorated as beautifully as this place.
The desserts are top notch. I’ve been twice, and everything I’ve ordered has never disappointed me.
Additionally, the seating is fabulous. If you want a nice place to catch up a friend, definitely come here! Want to eat a snack? Come here!
Lastly, the coolest thing about this place is the ladies’ restroom (can’t speak for the other restroom). It is awesome! There is a changing table, extra diapers just in case, and nice soap! Most importantly it was cute and smelled good.
If you’re around the area, this place is a must try! I’ve already gone twice and can’t wait to come again: D.

I think I may have come to late in the day because I don’t understand the raving reviews of this place.
I came in because I was looking for a lil coffee shop near my place where I could work on my laptop as I was Starbucks’d out. This place looked absolutely adorable, so I was excited to see what the fuss was about.
I came in around 2pm and there was one person in the shop. The staff was very sweet and courteous, so no complaints there. The offerings in the display case were pretty scarce and mostly seemed to consist of cookies, which I am not a big cookie person, and a few other nondescript baked goods that just did not look palatable to me. I «lucked out» and got the last bfast sandwich that they needed to heat up (so I have a funny feeling it had been sitting behind the glass for a hot min). They were out of espresso, so I settled for their drip.
The coffee was OK, but nothing mindblowing and they give you free refills (as they should as the mugs they serve the coffee in are on the 8−10oz side).
The sandwich, however, was lacking for me. With it being reheated it was kind of on the stale/​bland side. The bacon and egg that came on it had a sort of weird taste as well.
For the price, the product was definitely not on par. And, to add insult to injury, you can only access there wifi for 1hr sessions at a time.
So, I guess if you come in early and they have a little more variety that is on the fresher side of the day and are not here to have a bite and a cuppa joe while working on your laptop, then this place might be for you. I, on the other hand, have no reason to return. I so wanted to like this adorably decorated bakery, but it just didn’t have the substance to accompany the cuteness that I was looking for.

I love this place. But I always seem to stop by when it’s closed.
I finally came by when Bribery Bakery was open Thanksgiving Eve and picked up a few goodies. Not only is their bakery super cute (sorry, sans pics) and everyone is super nice, their baked goods are the real deal!
I tried an iced cookie (surprisingly better than most — 2 different kinds of icing!), brownie cupcake, and pumpkin cake. One common element is how moist and sweet their cakes are!
Bribery Bakery is definitely a cute little place to pick up something sweet and to make your day great!

T H E very best cinnamon roll I have ever experienced. Yes, it was a mouthwatering experience. The quiche was delicious as well.
Lots of great bakeries in Austin, but this is my favorite.
Also, the campy décor makes this a fun place to go. Not too many chairs, but a comfortable and energetic place to wait while they get your to-​go box ready.

I’ve read a lot of good about this place, but heard some bad. Overall, I’m glad I went, but I hate that I know it’s there!
I went for the carrot cake. I had been wanting some for over a month now and oh my stars, was it ever worth it!!! Not only was the portion huge, it was delectable. The cake was light and moist and the frosting was light and fluffy, not like typical cream cheese icing. I highly recommend getting carrot cake if it’s up your alley and then cutting a piece and hiding the rest for another time.
I also got the veggie quiche. I did think it was strange that the savory and sweet were packed in the same box, but it didn’t seem to commingle thank goodness! The quiche was perfectly seasoned and the crust was tasty and flaky. My only complaint was some of the veggies seemed overcooked. That’s okay though because the sprinkle of goat cheese made it all better.
The ladies at the counter were nice-​ish. I wouldn’t call them friendly or helpful, but I guess at least they weren’t mean.
I’ll probably go back there for that carrot cake again.

Bribery bakery has been on my radar to try for awhile. Today was a great day to give it a go because the SCOTUS just ruled in favor of equal rights! Let them eat cake! And I did. Specifically, the delicious carrot cake at Bribery. Equal layers of light and fluffy cream cheese icing and sweet, nutty layers of carrot cake. I normally don’t particularly care for frosting, but man oh man have they done it right!
I also had the delicious bacon and gruyère popovers. Nom nom nom! The honey butter and jalapeño butter were also amazing and just add a latte on the side and this inner and outer fat girl was happy! My scale might give me some crap tomorrow, but that’s okay. It was worth it!
The place is also super cute and cozy and a great place to relax, sip and indulge. I honestly loved everything about it. Great work, everyone. I’m on such a sugar high right now!!!

Wow is this place is simply gorgeous! Bribery Bakery is the perfect setting for a tea party or a small gathering of friends. Bright pinks, lush hues of blue and a touch of mint, the décor is just lovely.
Anita C. hosted a Brit and Co DYI party recently at Bribery Bakery. We were decorating cupcake stands so she decided to rent out a table and purchase some treats for us try at Bribery Bakery. They set us up with three gorgeously presented desserts and beautiful stands. We had red velvet cupcakes, a pineapple blondie dessert and a peanut butter cookie topped with rich creamy chocolate grenache frosting and sprinkled with a hint of salt. My favorite was the soft peanut butter cookie with its chocolate and salt goodness. The pineapple dessert was a close second. Sadly I did not have room for the cupcake but they looked fabulous.
I have tried some of their bites at food events like the Sustainable Food Centers Farm to Plate and enjoyed the desserts. I am glad I finally stopped by their charming storefront.

Prices are high, service is weak, but presentation and flavors are killer.
Egg, ham, and cheese biscuit $ 5.50– Huge biscuit with cheddar and pepper sprinkled throughout. Good flavor but biscuit is seriously huge. I ended up taking the top one off and cutting the second on in half. That was the perfect amount. Cheese, ham and egg were flavorful and delish.
‘Mom’ sugar cookie $ 2.50– yummy flavor. Definitely tasted like it came from a bakery. Cute design.
Junk drawer cookie $ 2.50 (I think??) — yummy but filled with raisins which immediately made me toss it out after the second bite. Blah. Wish they would advertise their ingredients in mixed cookies.
Carrot Cake $ 5.50– holy macaroni. HUGE portion and lots of frosting which was delicious. It was so big that I ate on this for a few days before finishing it up. Yum!
Flavors and presentation are on point. I loved he mish-​mash of chairs and furniture. I loved the bright colors and all the decorations. The employees seemed rushed and flustered, they seemed to be dragging through the customers wishing they weren’t there. They weren’t rude they were just like ‘Okay and what else? Okay and what else?’. No passion or enjoyment. Once you’re past them, the rest is totally enjoyable.

This is a super cute little bakery.
I really, REALLY love the interior décor — as soon as I walked inside I had images of beautiful baby and bridal showers. I don’t think hosting showers is something they offer right now, but I asked around and they were pretty open to discussing it.
What you NEED to get here is the pineapple blondie with brown butter icing. It is AMAZING. It’d be hard to eat more than half (me and my hubby tend to split it) but it’s just perfect. I highly recommend it.
I’ve also had a few savory things and pies — which were ok. I think this place really shines on its cakes and brownies, so that’s what I try to stick to. I almost wish the serving sizes were a little smaller so I could sample/​enjoy a few more things. The seating can also be a little awkward, though cute — communal tables are a bit messy and awkward when I’m ripping through a pineapple blondie, obviously. Strangers don’t need to be subjected to that!
But all in all, this is a great place to visit. Heading to Garbo’s first for lunch, and here after for dessert makes for a great afternoon! The ambiance, the blondie, and the nice people that work here make it a 5 star experience.

I’m giving this place five stars because the FOOD IS EXQUISITE. The seating is a little odd — the styling is more like grandma’s attic than a restaurant, which makes sense if this place is thinking is has a wholesaler future — and my egg sausage English muffin still had a cool center after its second warming, but I would still make the trek up here in a heartbeat to try out the different offerings.
Delicious and I shared the bacon gruyère popover, the chocolate croissant, and the sausage egg English muffin. We also each had a coffee, which were strong and flavorful. The honey butter served with the popover was a favorite. Check this place out before the line forms!
